Maye is the best player on offense

Gonzo is the best player on defense.

Prove me wrong.

Hopefully we can get the Best Player in the 2025 Draft who could help both CB/WR Travis Hunter. See what I did there.

But wait according to a few here, Gonzo was overrated!

He's legit as hell. The fact he looks as good as he does with a defense that is lacking all over is a testament to this.

Hopefully he doesn't still show on the injury report with a bad hip. He played through it pretty well last game but I'd feel a lot better if it wasn't an ongoing thing. The kind of reactive cutting that a DB has to do is hard on the hips.

Devil's advocate here:

Then why don't we win with Gonzo? If his impact play is that remarkable, why has our record been horrendous the past 2 years? We know he is not the reason we lose. However, does his position/play have enough impact on whether we win or not?

There's no need for teams to go at Gonzo. There are enough weak spots elsewhere on the D to keep any OC spoiled for choice.

Because this a sport with 52 players on a roster and 11 men on the field for every single play.

He’s still basically a rookie having only played 4 games last year, which is nuts.

You can still run on the patriots, the offense is terribly slow and sadly poorly coached.

If you have two legit WR, a pass catching back or a TE you can also throw on the Patriots. Take prime Darrel Revis and put him on this team you don’t win any more games

Just quickly checking stats with Jaylon Johnson and Patrick Surtain II (two CB's being tossed around as "best of"), you'd actually be pressed to say teams are targeting Gonzalez more than most CB1's. He holds his own in similar fashion, but he is attacked quite often.

Easy…we have NO pass rush and below average safeties. Also possibly an incompetent D coordinator

Same reason the Jets don't win with Sauce Gardner, and that the Broncos didn't win for 3 years with Pat Surtain. An elite CB does not win games, he protects a good team from losing games.

Is this a troll post?

He’s been beating the drum for us to draft King Tet assuming Travis Hunter is off the board. He’s been getting resistance by many who don’t feel WR is as important as say OL. I think he’s trying to prove a point.

Great answer. So essentially Gonzalez will not be truly impactful until we revamp our offense and improve our team?

OL is important, there's just no top end OL in the draft.
