The Bye Is The Time For An Extension Or Two

My nominations
Wise
Hooper
I like both players and have played well as older player's this season. They both bring value to the team. I have no issues with a 2 year extension for either or.

Jones is a serious question mark. How much is he worth to play CB? for how long a contract? I don't think that he would sign an incentive-laden contract without seeing what he is worth in free agency.
======
With regard to Ellis and Austin, I think that the team will wait until after the season to sign RFA's. Of course, the ERFA's have no choice.

All of these will likely be back for camp. Of course, we should test these players in the rest of the games.

RFA'S: Austin, Ellis, Brown, Cotten
ERFA's: Pharms, Jacobs, Jackson

Jones is one of the older players I would retain, he’s always played well and it won’t cost a ton to keep him. But overall the emphasis needs to be on youth. Although I would try to sign Garrett Bolles to stabilize LT while they search for a long term answer.

Jackson is on IR.. Elliss probably stands to have the most upside and probably worth a team Friendly extension. I also really like Austin as well.

I am looking forwards to Bell being given some time. He could be the future, there was a lot of positivity about when he was drafted.
On the small side but the team needs to put him in position to make plays more often before the season ends to see what they have.

Speaking for myself.. I pretty much already know what we have on this team.. I'm just ready for the off season.. it's difficult to assess just what we have with 3s and 4s at WR.

There’s nobody on this team eligible for an extension that I’d want to extend.

I'd say hooper.. you need a veteran TE that's a great leader and is a sure target for a young QB. That's just my opinion.

Wise is so burnt. He can barely walk without that giraffe limp. He was a good Patriot-Way guy (I guess), but the truth is, we never heard from him. He was the most unknown, unimpactful player to ever wear the "C". Nothing against him, but need to get younger and better at DE.

Hooper has been mostly good in his role. He is getting old (along with Henry) but makes sense to keep him for '25...
unless they decide to scheme a role for Bell & draft a true TE to develop - which we MUST do.
Then there might not be room for Hooper.
But, we absolutely need to draft a prototypical TE to take over in '26 once Henry is done.

We need an infusion of talent and youth on the defensive line. A unblockabable stud is out there in the draft the name I've heard was Carter a defensive end. Wise has been a great patriots and even better man off the field. If he sticks around it will be a team friendly deal in a situational role. Bell can be that guy.. he just needs to be featured and put in play making positions.

No one would have complained if Onwenu left in FA and we had another of Wolf's choice of OL's?

ROFL!!!
No. You wouldn’t even notice him missing, just like you don’t even notice him now.

But keep spending that money on mediocre players to average 3.5 wins within the last two years.

Not sure about Jon Jones anymore. He has been getting beat this year...we also were unable to trade him at the deadline....

Now, I love me some Jon Jones....but he's getting up there in age....or he's been playing injured....

Based on some of the comments, I know for a fact some of you don't watch the games. You only read the play-by-play lines from ESPN/NFL.com. *SMH* Utterly ridiculous.

For FA targets:
Dan Moore Jr. At tackle, Josh sweat and chase young at DE, chavaious ward at CB, Higgins at WR and or adding diggs.

Hooper I'd like to see back.
I'm good with wrong-side-of -30 Wise, and him showing up for 3 games a season, and disappearing for the other 14. Only thing that would give me pause, is that he's the only DE on the roster who can sometimes set the edge.
wises spot is the perfect Keion White role. The problem is because we lack any edge players we play white out of position a lot.

So we might be 2-11?

You are telling us it would have been stupid to get a good WR for Maye and think watching the sucky guys suck was a good plan. Why couldn’t we do that at G too?

Your absolutely correct! I had made mention of the possibility of trying to add a chase young or a Josh sweat.. would allow white to play inside where he belongs.
