The Bye Is The Time For An Extension Or Two

That rebuttal I've heard when criticizing the re-signings of Dugger, Owenu, Rham and Barmore was weak. Clearly, 3 out of the 4 have almost zero impact on the team and nobody would complain had Owenu or Dugger left in FA.

However, the better argument is that every team has spend 89% of the cap in a 4 year span.
89% of the cap in CASH

You’re absolutely correct! I had made mention of the possibility of trying to add a chase young or a Josh sweat.. would allow white to play inside where he belongs.
Wise plays over the T. He is a true 3-4 DE. 3-4 DE could play either inside or on the edge on passing downs. White plays too much in space, that’s not his best role.

Last year, I wondered out loud about keeping any of the lot. People admonished the thought. Come to find out, 3-10 later, maybe I was right. Why bother with 95% of the players on this roster ? Not only do they lose, they lose in ridiculous fashion AND give the impression they don’t care.

Keep Gonzalez, Maye, and perhaps Barmore. Who cares what happens to the rest ? I can hear it now “you need ___ players to field a team blah blah blah…”. WHO CARES ?! If they are going to be a bottom 3 team AGAiN, why not load up on a bunch of smart, if untalented street FAs ? It’s exhausting watching this roster.
Adding IMPACT player's are what's lacking on D.. pursue a chase young or sweat ,or koonce.. edge rushers that are still only 25 years old. We need young star players. J.jones is still a Good player but probably a rotational CB at this point. Adding a charvaius ward would secure the 2nd CB spot...

If we can add those sought after edge guys is allows white and Barmore to create havoc inside.. we'll be a force against the run and pressure up the middle won't allow QBs to step up to make throws.

But...I haven't liked Wise since 2020. He has 2-3 good games and then nothing. I see him as one more guy that lessens the opportunity for an important play.

Drake, Henry, Bourne, Austin, and Gibson are the only players on offense that have shown any consistency. No one else deserves anything imo.

The defense needs to give back extensions that were already given.

Losing teams should have more roster turnover.

Someone refresh my memory: Is offering an extension during a bye a common practice?

Wise is a nice guy; long; but runs with cement shoes and doesn't seem to know the horse collar rule. Totally expendable.

I don't see the need to extend any pending FA currently on the roster. If it happens, fine. If not, meh.

Re sign Lowe and Ben Brown to modest deals tbh. Lowe is at least a backup and shouldn’t be costly to keep

Why? They're both just terrible.

Need depth. Brown is decent but hopefully Strange is long term center. I don’t love Lowe but he’s worth keeping around
I have good news for one and all. Lowe is signed for 2025. His $1.1M contract is not guaranteed, so he can be easily cut if he is beaten our by four players for the OT positions.

**** I thought someone said penis extensions…wrong thread? Right thread, wrong name i.e. ****? Extend the vets that have been solid. Wise, Hooper, etc. Rest are just…****s…

No. Neither can play. They've proven that over, and over, and over again, week in and week out.
You can get backups who can at least look like they've played the position before.

He’s going to get the Proven Performance Escalator increase, which OverTheCap is projecting as a $3.185M salary. Still not guaranteed, and players have taken pay cuts from the PPE increase in order to keep their jobs before (Marco Wilson last offseason is one example).

In that case, we shouldn't risk injury and sign him to a new contract with a minimal signing bonus or just cut him. He isn't worth anywhere near $3.85M. I guess that there is no rush. This can be done (or not) after the draft.

Home depot lowe and CVS Jacobs are not NFL players. These guys are actors casted in the replacements. Definitely on board with extending wise 2yr deal and same for Hooper.

What's that mean in layman's terms
Practically, it means we can forget that the CBA has a cash spending requirement because it’s too low to really be relevant.
