I'm starting to think Lawrence might never be really good. He's got the physical tools but it's still questionable if he's got the mental ones.
We should have seen some improvement there by now.

I wonder if he lacks the intensity for winning that QB’s need.

I think Lawrence should retire, on the grounds that his brain is undoubtedly permanently damaged and at risk of horrific deterioration if he gets hit again. Then sue that player and the team who hit him illegally for some outrageous sum, just to send a message.

Honestly that to me seems like the problem. The Cowboys on paper seem like a great fit.... but Jerry Jones is a control freak and wants total control which is going to be an issue with Bill. Also we don't know if Jones will keep McCarthy for another year.

The Giants are obviously a sweetheart team for Bill, but they are so down right now that it's a total rebuild, and we saw how Bill's last rebuild went. If he wants to go somewhere, win, and chase the wins record, that's not an ideal spot.

Bill has to be selective when taking an NFL job. He's 73 and getting fired again probably means he's done for good. He's also not going to have the same level of rope he had in NE with a pedigree of winning and and a grateful fanbase that is sentimental towards him. If he takes an NFL spot, he needs to really feel confidant that it's a fit.

I can only imagine Mac Jones reaction finding out that Bill is being hired as the new head coach.

You can't be mediocre during a rebuild and then be trending down towards the end and have the bottom fall out the final season. If Bill was hovering around .500 and on the edge of playoffs that is different.

He was also given pretty much total leeway on things like hiring Patricia and Judge. No other coach in the league would have been allowed to do that. You have to consider he was given a ton of trust and freedom up until his final year and the team got burned by it.

The scary thing for me is who's going to want this job when the GOAT got such a short leash and his replacement will get a much shorter one. Why would a good experienced coach line up for this kind of treatment.

That’s why I’m not super crazy about firing Mayo after one year even if I was never totally onboard with his hiring, I see no way Ben Johnson is walking through that door if he see’s Bill getting fired and the next coach getting one year with this disaster roster. He could go on a better team or he could go on a rebuilding team where he calls the shots and will get a 3 year minimum.

I agree with that but unfortunately you can't just keep him for that reason. You either think he will improve or you have to make the tough choice.

There's still a few games left maybe he somehow makes the decision easier.
