DRAFT 2025 Patriots Draft Prospects

Dead right. Belichick and Brady should have been ****canned during their first years here as well. Knee jerk Patsfans who want instant success or else are the smartest fans. Too bad they picked Drake Maye as well, you were right in demanding they draft a receiver, that Mac Jones to Harrison combo would have killed it.
Keep being you Ivan.

Who are you? Are you that teenager in the gambling TV ad? Good stuff though. I enjoy your posts.
HA HA, I had to look that TV ad up, not me LOL.
Winning at gambling on sports is doable but the time and energy needed to do it would be too time consuming for me so I stick to crushing it in the stock market,
I do Enjoy detailed research and analysis though and being retired early I can indulge in such shenanigans like analyzing the NFL draft.

You keep on being miserable PF2, don’t want you to have to have a positive thought.
You're no greater Patsfan than I am Ivan: I wasn't born last night I cal tell you: this 2024 version of the Patriots is the Worse ever.

There is no justification passing on an elite WR like McMillan in the top 10. He plays like Mike Evans.

Do you people seriously want to watch another year of Maye throwing to untalented smurfs so we can draft another Isiah Wynn?

Never said I was, just that you are perpetually miserable. You were even miserable all through the Dynasty years. Nothing ever satisfies you, all you do is whine.

Sure as hell don’t want to watch another year of 5,000 holding calls like this season, and situations like this first half now vs. Indy where receivers weren’t the issue and OL was. Obviously hope they can improve both.

Have you ever wondered why our O line holds so much? Because no one can get open, zero separation. Maye has to create plays and improvise because none of our wide receivers are capable of beating man coverage. Besides…most of our yardage today came out tight ends and running backs…not our wide receivers. Our leading wideout today has 29 yards.

You realize teams run the ball too, no? Feel free to think so cut and dry though.

I just think until we upgrade our skilled positions at O…this team will never sniff better than .500, and certainly have no chance to beat the elite AFC teams. Let’s address the major issues. I also agree with you O-Line needs to be upgraded but not at the expense of Maye throwing to JAGS

Doing some research on the draft and so far reinforcing the idea is a weak draft and Travis Hunter is by far the best prospect.
I took 8 different big boards and also the NFL Mock Database which combines hundreds of mock's and team needs, and 68 online big boards to compare consensus ranking vs expected draft position.

Only 3 players show up in all 9 as top 15

Travis Hunter-STUD: #1 in all 9
McMillan-WR: As high as #2 and as low as #11
Jeanty-RB: As high as #2, as low as #11

The most over drafted:
The QB's Sanders and Ward expected to go 2 and 3 but ranked 9th and 11th on average as prospects

Most Under drafted:
Jeanty, Average 7th prospect but drafted 11th
Starks-Safety 9th best prospect drafted 16th or higher

As you would expect QB is over-drafted and RB and Safety under drafted.

Main takeaways
-Top prospects are few: Hunter, McMillan and Jeanty
-There are 27 other guys that get into the top 15 so after the top 3 and the QB's the prospects in the first round are not separated by that much.

-Tackles: Banks, Campbell, Milum, Simmons show up in top 15 at least once but Milum and Campbell arm length means they are guards and not tackles IMO.

-Wide Receivers: Hunter, McMillan, Egbuka and Tre Harris are the 4 that show up in at least 1 top 15 list

-Travis Hunter is the ideal draft pick-please oh pretty please!
-McMillan had bad separation #'s last year but can't see if he's improved on that this year, seems to have the hands and size and produces but separation is important. If that has improved he'd be the #2 choice.
-You don't take Jeanty as RB so you might have as good a chance hitting at 15 as you do at #4.
-If available: Hunter-Yes, McMillan-Maybe, then trade down, if possible, if not then Banks is probably the best choice left.
To be fair about this, arm length issues for Campbell and Milum are not confirmed but rumored. Anything below the 33” level and I’d agree that is likely a deal breaker for them to be a very good or elite LT1 in the NFL. However, IMHO there are not more than 10 LTs in the league currently that could be considered elite or very good. That is why, year in, year out, there always seem to be 4 - 6 OTs taken in the first round, and why you see so many bust. For that reason, regarding Campbell and Milum, my prediction is that if either or both have confirmed arm length of between 33” and 34,” some team or teams will gamble on them and if either or both have arms longer than 34” they’re going top 15. Based on who they’ve brought in at OT, I don’t believe Wolf will take either unless he sees a 34”+ number.

With that said, right now I’m in the “throw money at the best available veteran LT and draft who they hope becomes the future LT1 with the high second round pick” camp, and free up the high first rounder for the guy at any position other than QB that can make a strong impact in 2025.

I’d be OK with McMillen, Banks (assuming his arms meet their length standard), Graham, Jeanty, or even Starks, Egbuka, Pierce, Walker, or Scourton. Each is flawed but that’s my current view of who’d possibly be worth a top 10 or even top 5 pick by the Pats. Even better, if Campbell, Banks, and Milum come up short on Wolf’s arm length criterion, a trade down that allows them to make two Day 1 picks or 4 Day 2 picks (they have 3 right now) plus something else of nice value (a player at a need position such as a Wills or Mayer, or a 2026 first or second).

Did you watch him yesterday? Did he play like Mike Evans yesterday?

The OL holds so much because they are overmatched athletically, and not responsive enough to coaching directed at getting them to stop committing penalties.

KCSVEN - thanks for this thoughtful and researched post. I enjoyed it. From what we know today, I agree with how you are looking at the draft. Hunter or trading a top three pick to a QB hungry team are my hopes and I believe you need to be in the top three to accompolish this. OTs don't look strong this year. With a suboptimal roster talent wise, I'm hoping for trades down and across. I've seen a couple things that make me believe strong draft at TE and RB. Maybe we can fill some of those holes in the midrounds. Thanks again for your work on this site.

I really didn't see any holds today, nothing that should have been flagged. This isn't a comment about whether they are good or not. So much more was happening when the Colts OL was grabbing. I seriously don't know what's going on out there anymore. They keep throwing flags on non-holds. This isn't a complaint either since the Colts got jobbed on that flag on the pick play.

Austin reminds me a lot of Terry Glenn. Take him in the first round please, it would open up the field a lot for Maye.

I've been pushing LSU OT Will Campbell to the Pats for next year's draft, but he got his QB Nussmeier racked up yesterday. The DE from Oklahoma, Thomas, beat him on a speed rush and Campbell looked like he barely got out of his stance. I thought Campbell played pretty good besides that one play, but he looked totally asleep on that sack. It looked like Thomas set it up by bull rushing the previous series and then setting up wide and just speed rushing right by Campbell. Nussmeier had to go to the tent and the locker room but eventually returned and played great, but would hate to see a hit like that happen to Maye.
