Wolf has made worse GM decisions than post Brady BB

He's on record saying he didn't like the Maye pick. So who does he pick? Does he trade down and grab one of the lesser QBs?
He never said that?

I remember him talking around draft day and he had Williams, Daniels, and Maye in a group ahead of the other guys. I don't think he ever said which of the 3 he'd prefer.

That's how they hate if you haven't been paying attention they do it in every thread.
When I see the then vs now debate, I tend to move on. I was bored so I read everything and it was exhausting. BB was a great coach here and IMO is the top 2 or 3 coaches of all time (he is my #1). He is not here now and personally don't give a **** about what he thinks about this team or its players. I love listening to him talk ball but he is media so a grain of salt needs to be taken.

Lets talk about FA and draft to improve this team rather than dwelling on BB vs Mayo. Happy Thanksgiving all

How many offensive linemen were drafted in 2024?

We set records for the most offensive linemen and most offensive tackles drafted in total for the seven-round draft era. Fifty-five linemen were selected, and 28 of them are offensive tackles.Apr 27, 2024. OFFENSIVE TACKLE RANKINGS 2024 NFL DRAFT
The 2024 NFL Draft offers a deep group of offensive Linemen. We didn't pick one on the list....

He’s not on record saying he didn’t like the pick.

Bill wouldn't have drafted Drew either.

He never believed in building a team from QB outward but the other way around.

Yeah I bet Bill would have wanted a re-do on the decision to let Meyers walk to sign Juju Tiktok Schuster…

I've heard he wanted to keep Meyers and others Wanted a more explosive player.
Meyers said in his own words it came down to a million dollars.. BB didn't want to budge. His words not mines.

For some reason they like making things up just so the can complain about him. I've made it quite clear how ridiculous I think it is.

This graph is very telling. The line is so bad that the Pats release a starter and no other team in the league thought he was good enough to pick up.
Agreed and the team keeps signing other teams practice squad players . I know that the practice squad is now used a roster hold for players. I really don't know what the team is trying to accomplish by doing so.

Using the PS to learn about and develop players makes good sense. Bringing back a player who you released after being on the roster for weeks does not. It would have been better to add a different player who has unexplored potential.

It’s not clear though if it was over one million dollars total or per year. I can’t imagine it was one million total.

True. We have 6'9 tackle Caleb Jones who at one point was a starter in GB he's on the PS either he's worse than Jacobs or lowe becuase a man his size should be dominant at LT.. I have no problem seeing what players can do. However the team the last few seasons never really properly addressed the OL and it's abysmal this season. Lowe, jacobs, are not NFL starters.

It’s still isn’t clear if it’s per year or total. I think he meant per year.

Also, Schuster signed for $8.3M per year with $16M guaranteed. Meyers signed with the Raiders for $11M per year and $21M guaranteed.

His story isn’t adding up.

I wanted you to see in his words to make your own determination.. but yeah... he says a million but could be so many different things as you said.

Free Agency

The pats were DOA in 2024 FA. It was a weak class & they were arguably the most undesirable team in the NFL. Calvin Ridley will be 31 next year. There was no long-term solution at LT or WR available. I'd rather sign Higgins next FA anyway.

The pats overpaid some of their own FAs but they had to field a team. None of their own signigns will hinder future offseasons as they can ditch most of them by 2026. They have 130+ million to spend next year. Does Stevenson, Dugger & Onwenu being overpaid really matter? Hopefully these players rebound next year.

It's hard for me to criticize Wolf harshly for the last FA class. He signed players to mostly 1 year deals to fill out the roster. Obviously most of them weren't going to work out. This upcoming FA class is stronger offensively & the pats will be in a better spot to sign them.

The Draft

Maye was a no brainer. I wanted him since it became evident the pats had a chance at a top pick last season. They are lucky he was available at third overall. Polk was a reach and McConkey was the obvious choice at 34th overall. I wanted the pats to draft AJ Brown in 2019 & George Pickens in 2022. They clearly still can't evaluate the position. Rounds 3-7 are TBD as Wallace has barely played RT.

I don't think there is a lot of evidence of Wolf being incompetent other than continuing the 20 year pats tradition of whiffing at WR. Him aggressively targeting Ridley & Aiyuk is a good sign IMO. I'm more pessimistic on the coaching staff than the front office longterm.
