Patriots Player Departure LG Michael Jordan released

Of course, but I was just saying that they didn't sit him after committing all those penalties due to having no depth behind him. To your point, he's meant to be the depth. He's not meant to be a full-season starter. But they have to survive the year as best they can with him until they can hopefully upgrade that spot next offseason. But I'd also keep him next season - unless they suddenly acquire an insane amount of talent - because he's at least proven that he can step in if they need him to.
That’s why I was surprised at the Jordan cut. He seems like a good depth piece and cutting him like that suggests that it wasn’t solely a talent decision.

Why is Vederian Lowe playing a similar amount of snaps?

Because that's who they have. Unfortunately.

What does not carrying a dedicated Swing Tackle on the 53 to replace VD have to do with replacing MJ on it with an INFERIOR player?

Remember last year when Adrian Klemm got really angry and went at (in person) Eliot Wolf for his inability to scout offensive linemen?

We all thought Klemm was crazy for attacking a personnel guy (especially when Sidy Sow looked decent for a 4th rounder) and that Klemm had lost his mind because he basically insinuated that the linemen on the team sucked.

Well, now, we're looking Chuk Okorafor, Keith Leverett, Michael Jordan, Demontrey Jacobs, Vedrian Lowe, Tyrone Wheatley, Caeden Wallace, Sidy Sow, Atonio Mafi, Layden Robinson, Zachary Thomas, and um... I guess I should mention Riley Reiff, Calvin Anderson, McDermott also

I'm no longer convinced that Adrian Klemm was out of his mind.

not exactly a murderer's row there!

That was in response to the question of why Jordan had played 96% of the snaps. My answer was that it was the same reason Lowe is starting - because they didn't/don't have a better option. As for why he was cut, I didn't know then when this was brought up, and like everyone else, I'm curious to hopefully find out.

Don't mean to pile on Jordan for that play where he was blocking literally nobody but it looks like he stepped over the LOS (blue line) right here. I was gonna give him "credit" for not being the illegal man downfield but maybe I spoke too soon. This is a flag if the ref was watching right? Or is it a penalty only if both feet are over the LOS?
You can be a yard away from los

Rather than be wrong, I'll wait to see what those same decision-makers were thinking tomorrow. That will then lead to another thread where we'll at least have a decision to give us some context to wonder what they're doing. Right now, we have no idea what they're thinking.
It’s tomorrow and now we know this:

New Patriots guard Lester Cotton was present. Cotton took starting left guard Michael Jordan’s spot on the roster.

The 29 year old journeyman guy Miami cut after playing 60 snaps is currently with the starters protecting Drake Maye. Behind him are guys who weren’t good enough to replace the guy who got released.

They’ve got a good excuse. His father “Kevin” goes by his middle name Michael, a name that he’s had since well before that other Michael Jordan became a household name.

87.7% of the plays on an injury plagued line.

He is bad.

But so much for continuity.

I mean, there are a bunch of guys still on the team who are backups.

Why weren't they starting ahead of Jordan if they are worth keeping?

Seems they are sending "messages" to the players, but here's my message to Mayo and Wolf. Send a "message" to yourselves.

Wolf decides who starts and who sits?

Sow seemed pretty good last year. I wonder if his injury has set him back this year? He could be a keeper.
I think they feel sow will be a good LG and if strange can fill center they have solved 3 spots ( LG,C,RG) and just need to get other 2 spots sorted out.

If we are lucky, we might possibly see Wallace, strange and sow in starting line up after the bye . Let's see if that line can be marginally better than what we have seen so far.

We have too many needs and with next draft class being so so on tackles and defense regressing so much it might be worthwhile to concentrate on defense next draft .

FA - just sign two of the best available tackles and overpay for tee Higgins . Use the 40 million saved this year towards overpayment for the tackles . They might not be pro bowl level but if they are top 20-25 that will do.

I hope we get a number 1 or 2 pick and can trade down to 6/7 while getting an additional 2nd round and 2026 first rounder. Use the 3 high picks on defense . I don't want us to draft McMillan and he turning out like a dud. I am not confident in the current coaching staff to develop or evaluate a wide receiver. We already drafted 2 receivers this season. Let them dry to develop them in 2025 and possibly a 4th or 5th rounder.

Use the 3rd rounders on running back and tight end.

Use draft to sign best player available. We have needs everywhere so it will fit in. No drafting for needs like 2024 and overdrafting offensive players.

The scouts should be on the road now and talking and evaluating candidates more. The emphasis for wolf should be on the scouts now rather than looking in Jan or Feb. Work like your career depends on this.

I've got to agree with Andy and the good captain.

Sure, swapping out one member of a terrible offensive line for another doesn't look like a big deal. Still, what does it show about how the team is operating?

First, even if Mr Cotton is an upgrade on Mr Jordan taken in isolation, it breaks the continuity of the O-line, which surely has some value in itself.

Second, why should Mr Jordan be the one cut rather than one of the back-up O-line men? (Mr (Tyrese) Robinson would seem favourite.)

People have, reasonably enough, suggested that there must have been some off-the-field transgression to explain the cut. But in his press conference Van Pelt paid tribute to Mr Jordan, said that Mr Jordan had "worked his butt off", and that he had explained to the team that this is just the way things are in the NFL. Not even a Belichickean "we did what we thought was best for the team".

So either the team doesn't know what it is doing and, having achieved a bit of continuity on the O-line, changes its mind overnight, or -- and this is far worse -- Wolf is making personnel decisions to change one player for another without the approval of the coaches.

Not a good look.

Wolf decides who starts and who sits?
??

Where did I say that?

Wolf and Mayo decide who gets cut.

Are you saying that Wolf didn't agree with Mayo starting Jordan this year? Maybe Wolf wanted Sidy Sow to start?

We are evaluating LGs for the future. Jordan has no future in NE.

We have Strange, Sow plus two we have recently signed

We have 6 other OGs on the 53, including Onwenu, Strange, Sow, Robinson

Sow and Strange are recovering from injuries. Cottonis a better backup for the future

It's not really freaking out, but trying to understand why they are disrupting continuity (as upstater said) to replace him with another guy who sucks. Maybe he was bad in the locker room, but again, if players are jolly after getting blown out, that locker room is garbage, and it's more than one player.
When a player is that bad, it could be for any reason. Bad influence in the lockerroom. Maybe got in a fight with someone valuable. Maybe there's some guy on the wire that they think is cheaper that is just as good. A PS guy could be developing and looking like a better option.

Point is, he's bad enough that anything small could have been the reason.

It's kind of strange to see such violent reactions to a poor player being let go. It's not like he was the starting DB for 95% of the snaps but was benched for a SB for an unknown reason.

There's nobody here who has any clue why the Pats let Jordan go but many of you think you have all the answers anyway. That's funny.

You have to work your BB hate into every post. Dude, make an appointment with a therapist. PatsFans is not your psychiatrist. Show a therapist on a doll where BB touched you. Heal and move on. In the meantime spare us your completely biased posts.

Lots of people name their kid that if their last name is Jordan. Hell, when I was in high school ages ago, the biggest jock in the school got a girl pregnant. The name? Jordan Justice for Michael Jordan and David Justice.

Yesterday you said we should wait until today to find out. Today we still do not know, and you say that you are curious to find out.

At some point it becomes obvious the Pats management team, Wolf and co., are out of touch. Wolf told us that Okorafor would be the LT. Then Wolf told us that Wallace would be the LT. Then Wolf had a press conference and told us he liked the OL personnel. Obviously, by Wolf's own words, he is clueless.

Now you say wait until tomorrow. When tomorrow arrives you say you are very curious. What I am curious about is when you think Wolf will loose all credibility with Pats fans, even as you try to delay judgement which is essentially propping Wolf up?
