He has been awful for weeks…like huge decline. BUT, it is also true that Eliot Wolf is a complete moron for believing this line had any chance to be competent

He's not alone in that. The talent on the line has been suspect for three years, and it simply wasn't a priority for either BB or Wolf. As I recall, the line was pretty much a disaster whenever Andrews was out the last couple years, too, but maybe if Maye were behind it, it wouldn't have felt that way.

I know the draft and FA discussions always drift to other positions as the team finds new ways to fail, but it shouldn't take a personnel genius to know that investing in a LT who can see Maye into his prime years needs to be job #1 or 2 this off-season.

But if you're going to replace him with the new guy why cut him and not his backup. Makes no sense unless they want to send a message. But the message I'm getting is desperation.

It might not be message sending to the team. He might simply not take coaching well and therefore isn't likely to get any better or maybe let the team do things on offense they want to do. The only way this makes sense to me right now is if Strange is activated this weekend, but maybe there is some game planning going on. I don't really expect that of the current coaching staff, but it wouldn't be realistic to think that AVP doesn't feel somewhat hamstrung by the OL here.

I’m not upset about Jordan’s release I’m upset that it took 12 games of playing him every snap to conclude a waiver wire guy was better, and to come to the realization that the guys they sat behind him are actually better players in their mind.

I’m upset because we have football people who stink at evaluation football players and making football decisions.

Jordan might be happy because he got a reprieve from it.

Could it possibly have nothing to do with his play and there are other issues we are unaware of? I mean we all groaned when Judon was let go and that turned out to be the right decision. I am in the same boat as you as I think this organization from the owner to the water boy is dysfunctional. But I want to hear what Mayo has to say today before I determine if he is more of a clown coach than I already think he is.

I'm assuming they cut him because they felt they had someone better. It's also possible Strange is closer to being ready to play. Just have to let it play out.

No doubt it's odd, but seems reasonable to assume (a) there is an attitude/locker room problem with him or (b) he was simply filling a spot, they got a long look at him, and didn't see any upside ... so on to the next one. There are going to be lots of players like that in the rebuild. Try people out, make a judgement, and move on as needed.

It’s not the transaction, it’s what it indicates. Are you not at all concerned about the organizations ability to evaluate players?
Jordans come and go but if the brain trust can’t evaluate players properly we are in trouble for a long time. So far they seem very bad at it, and every week we seem to get more examples.

The word from reported was the locker room as a whole was unbothered after the blowout. I doubt the response to that is to gib to the worst unit on your team, the one that protects the franchise QB and cut a guy who has played 96% of the plays to send a message and put your qb at risk. If that’s the reason I am even more concerned.

First if I had to guess the simplest explanation that comes to mind is they probably tried to bench him and he responded poorly and isn't worth the trouble so they cut him.

From carrying 7 WRs and rotating them so much. To choosing Jacoby over Maye and then taking so long to switch. Now this they seem skittish or just flat out don't trust their own ability to evaluate.

I don't have the complete list but so far this month the Chiefs, Chargers, Giants, Eagles, Rams, Washington, Jags, Lions, Bengals, and Broncos have all outright cut players this month. Do they all seem hesitant or incapable of making logical and timely evaluations?

Look, teams cut players all the time for all kinds of reasons. It's not just the Pats. It's every team all across the league. People freaking out about cutting an underperforming player are looking to pile on or are freaking out or freaking out's sake.

Agreed. There is no OG on the roster outside of ownenu that is a starter in the NFL.

There's too much mediocre on this roster to get overly attached to anyone other than guys who are truly contributors and guys who are good enough to set themselves apart.

Have to look at it this way: (and I mean this in a general sense) If we wouldn't want them next year, we shouldn't care about what happens to them now. Especially with just five games left on the schedule.

I care because it may impact Drake Maye's health. Whatever they do now to shuffle the line, it better not be worse, but with this team's massive coaching issues, it probably will be. The Patriots have the worst coaching staff in the league, and I have little faith that change will yield a positive return. I guess Brown at center is the counterexample.

Exactly. Keeping Sow and not Jordan makes me think the front office views him as having better long term upside. If Sow has better long term upside then he should have gotten snaps over Jordan.

Pats need to be developing young talent during the rebuild, starting a journeyman that they don’t feel strongly enough to keep on the roster is stupid. If this is how the team feels about Jordan he should have never been playing in the first place.
