wow

This story, a day old, may give insight to what is leading to reinstatement:

As is customary in the legal profession, it is our practice not to comment on confidential settlement discussions. However, as Mr. Peppers’ lawyer has raised this, we can confirm that Mr. Peppers’ lawyer asked us to meet to discuss a potential settlement and asked us to convey a settlement proposal,” their statement continued.

The woman’s lawyers said they presented a proposal that did include “a monetary payment for our client’s pain and suffering.” The proposal also asked for an apology from Peppers, for him to undergo intensive counseling, and to make a financial contribution to a domestic abuse support organization.

But there was no pressure for a multi-million dollar settlement to avoid time in court, Wigdor and Gottlieb said."

The article then recites probably what they could find according to court/police docs, and I imagine the truth is about halfway between Peppers and the woman's story.

Also, a hugggeeeeeee "Come on, man!" moment: The drug charge is stemming from him having cocaine in his wallet when he was being processed after arrest. Could've dumped it before leaving the house lol.

Not sure we know that. Curious to hear what the video evidence was. Sounds like it cleared him.
I have to imagine the video evidence almost completely exonerates him if it's enough to take him off the exempt list entirely and also reinstate him immediately.

wow.

didn't see this one coming

it will be good to see him back in foxboro. but the number 5 on his jersey will still look stupid. looks like a kickers number

didn’t she fabricate the story?

I don't think she fabricated (maybe embellished?), I'm not sure what the point of reaching out to discuss a settlement is for if you have video evidence that would result in complete exoneration. However, I'm not a lawyer. We have a few here, though, who might know what that means!

This is what I was afraid of. They’re basically saying that even if he’s guilty, he’d be retroactively suspended for those games he was on the commissioner’s exempt list and now be allowed to play. They just have to determine if it’s a “paid suspension” on the commissioner’s exempt list or if they go back and make it a true unpaid suspension. Doesn’t say anything about the NFL’s perception of his guilt or innocence, and I’m not sure the Pats will put him on the field.

(For those wondering, Mike Hall of the Browns was suspended 5 games earlier this season but was given credit for “time served” on the commissioner’s exempt list for the first 4 games.)

This entire story is sad no matter what the facts end up showing…. It’s just sad. No matter who is right, who is wrong, the story is sad (obv for different reasons, but still).

I hated the story then, I also hate it now. Humans are so brilliant at time, and so despicable at others. Even that makes me sad. I’m 50 now. I’m even sad at my cynical outlook and sad for the youngster who was full of hope.

I travel more than most people in my area. Because of that - I still think ‘most people are decent, regardless of their origins and place of birth’. People just usually tend to want to help others and want to be decent. But. As time passes, it becomes more and more difficult to remind myself.

Peppers the player was one of my favs. Effort, desire, improvement… but I can’t vouch for Peppers the human atm.

This is great! The leader on the defense can light a fire under these guys asses and remind them they are still playing for something!

So we should have got him back for the Dolphins. We'd have won with him lol.
