Nah, be good at team building.

QB is just another position, the most important one… but just another position.
It's not just another position the QB salaries are out of control and the Schooler's of the league pay the price not the failed QBs just doesn't seem right to me. Minimum salaries should be raised too. I just think there has to be a way to account for this better.

Schooler will get a good contract for what he does if he keeps playing well and the Patriots value system stays similar to the past. Slater had a nice career and career earnings.

QB is not special, don’t upend how salaries work just because some teams suck at their job.

Wow, obviously knew he sucks, but all that dead $...with Danny Devito and Drew Lock the rest of the way?

TANKVILLE!

Blame Goodell. Let him eat their salaries. He's been building this at his own benefit. The more they get paid, the more he gets paid.

Schefter says Daniel Jones asked for his release. Makes sense.

Same reason Cam wasn't going to back up Mac Jones here when he lost his starter job.

Jets should bring him in and see what Rodgers does
Your favorite team could use a QB and they won't be able to afford much other than a reclamation project.

They deserve it. Joe Schoen decides he wants to re-sign a 3-13 starter to a 4 yr 160 million dollar contract. The following year he’s trying to pony up hard for Drake Maye?

That is absolutely insane and quite the reason to be fired. Who cares if he thought there was nobody better at the time. Sign a Brissett, Mariotta, Minshew type guy, take your lumps and rebuild until you get the guy. To change your mind that quick on a huge investment like that means you didn’t do your homework or you just aren’t a good evaluator of talent.

Man, that is a giant pill to swallow. $47M dead cap and gain like $750,000 in space this year, then another $22M in dead cap in 2025. So that's like almost $70M in dead cap and they still have no QB lol.

Not really sure why they felt they had to release him NOW though. What opportunities are out there for him in the last third of this season...?
If they focus the news on this, maybe they won't notice the coach and he can save his job?

Injury guarantees... if he hit the practice field, or hurt himself working out, he could possibly be able to get 23m - or whatever the number is - in injury guarantees ... i'm sure they would rather eat the single turd that is a cap hit vs eating the pile of **** that is paying someone 23m not to play because the giants were dumb enough to put him in a position where he could get hurt.

I mentioned this in another thread, but what if Jones would've agreed to rescind some or all of his guarantees; would he still be the starter today...?

no. because he sucks. daboll gave him a plank, and jones walked it, and found himself swimming in water that was over his head.

just like mac getting his ass sat last year. the only reason mac wasn't cut loose was they knew that they could get a late round pick for him in the off season.

the deal DJ got was cheap money tbh. the giants could have cashed him out and they'd never notice it on their bottom line. So its not the money... thats just the cost of doing business. hes gone because hes a terrible quarterback

They signed someone else to be backup to ensure that he didn't see the field because Jones had a 38m injury guarantee. He was still trying to help so the team either let him go as a courtesy or to eliminate him as a distraction.

The article I read said that Jones was willing to waive the guarantee. I can't imagine that the NFLPA would be ok with setting that precedence.
