Jaguar Mac Jones is about to embarrass the genius BB and his all star coaching staff [mod edit: he didn’t]

We do know he has a problem with locking in on a receiver
If you watch the replay he had 2 targets wide open 3 yards over the LOS
It was 2nd down take the possible 1st down or 3rd and short
Instead he locks in and throws a duck
The pass should have never been thrown
Mostly because of his weak arm a CB gambles with jumping those routes on Mac. Not being in fear of the go route
If the ball had some zip and was thrown tall. Worst case incompletion
Instead he floats it numbers high

How you been Cap

Turning 65 on Sunday, going to the Pats game with my 66-year-old brother... I've been better, but compared to most I can't complain!

Starting Jones against the Bears was fatal. I can't get inside Bill's head, but simply keeping the kid in there while the team was playing very effectively is not pretending Zappe's the second coming or anything, it's just common sense. But Bill loves to go against the grain.

Not keeping Zappe as the starter was fatal to that season, the team's immediate future and probably his job. Kraft wasn't gonna fire him as the team was in the playoffs (which is where they were headed) and BB nipping on Shula's heels.
Here's the thing. Zappe also sucks. Their numbers are almost identical.
"Heart" can only take you so far, when he has to put his whole body into a 4-yard out, and it still flutters out there.

I doubt there are any Belichick haters here now. There's one poster I can think of who hated on Bill but he isn't a member here anymore.

There's definitely a vocal group here that seem to be Bill fans more than they are Pats fans. They take any criticism of Bill personally which is weird. All of them also despise Mac Jones with a passion which is hilarious. It will be interesting to see if they stick around if Bill does find a new coaching job.

There's a larger group which I would include myself that believe that Tom Brady ought to get a little more credit than BB for the dynasty simply for being the GOAT on the field at the most difficult position in sports and I have no doubt BB would agree. As for BB he is without a doubt an all time great arguably GOAT HC but over the last couple of seasons it became clear his time has passed and the team needed to move on. And funny thing is, I bet Bill himself knew it.

That ain't "hating".
Hello Pot, this is Kettle calling !
You always try to make people believe you do not hate Bill and the ones that defend him are 'Bill fans and not Pats fans' You have no idea what you are talking about. You criticize us for sticking up for Bill, but you are the one that jumped ship and became a Tampa fan for 3 years while Brady was there. You defended him so much over anything Bill or the Pats did. So let me ask you this, why are you here ? You are clearly a TB fan and not a Pats fan, that much is very clear. Now that Brady has retired why don't you go join a Chiefs message board, since that's whom you want to win based on your avatar. It is very tiring seeing you call fans of Bill 'your hooded hero' and the constant pot shots you take at the ones that do defend him. I can go back and look at many of your posts and how you are very hypocritical. You bash Bill and yet defend Tom when he says the exact same thing but in a different way. When you get called out, you can't give anyone a straight answer. You pick and choose what you want to reply to .
You are absolutely a Bill hater, You said he lost you completely when he hired MP and JJ. If you did think he was the GOAT coach as you claim,, one decision would not make you loose complete faith in him after giving us 20 glorious years. And my take is, Bill deserves as much if not more credit than Tom, without Bill there would be no Tom, at least not on the Pats. Remember he was a 6th round pick, no one took him, he might have been taken by another team as a perpetual back up . Any other coach would have given into pressure and given Drew his job back when he recovered even if Tom was on the Patriots. Let that sink in for a minute !! Without Bill, there is no Tom Brady the GOAT QB !!!

My friends, this is supposed to be a thread for pointing and laughing about a terrible prediction that Mac would be good after he left and he was obviously not. I don’t know how or why it transformed into yet another “I hate Bill Belichick” thread.

Just FYI, that's where you made it Tom vs Bill instead of Tom and Bill.

IMO it's okay to celebrate both Tom and Bill and be thankful for what they were able to create together, and leave it at that.

Wrong.
You defended him so much over anything Bill or the Pats did. So let me ask you this, why are you here ? You are clearly a TB fan and not a Pats fan, that much is very clear.
I simply pointed out that BB's decisions over his final couple of seasons heavily played a role in Mac Jones career going south and some posters just can't handle that or any other post that says not everything Bill did was perfect..so that makes me not a Pats fan. Great logic. Lol

Why would a 4th year QB like Jones still have the same mechanical issues he always had like throwing off his back foot? He is accused of having a weak arm but his mechanics are much worse and bad mechanics impact a lot of things like throwing power and accuracy.

And those habits were never coached out of him. What does that tell you about the coaching he got. Says it all.

No "Chiefs fan" would have an avatar like I have.

It is very tiring seeing you call fans of Bill 'your hooded hero' and the constant pot shots you take at the ones that do defend him.
Some people just can't take it when someone points out that as great as BB was, not everything Bill did was perfect. It's really weird.

I am a Brady fan, yes. I loved the partnership he had with Bill and that's what gave us the dynasty. In a way Brady was an offensive "coach" himself and that allowed Bill to do what he does best on defense. QB's like that don't come around very often. When it comes to great player vs great coach, I take the great player every single time. Would be the same in any sport.
When you get called out, you can't give anyone a straight answer. You pick and choose what you want to reply to .

Yes he did. I was IBWT all the way until that happened.

You're talking like I changed my mind and decided Bill always sucked as a coach. But yeah when those hires happened, I knew it was time for Bill to go.

Being an NFL head coach is not a lifetime achievement award. That's what the red and yellow jackets are for.

And my take is, Bill deserves as much if not more credit than Tom, without Bill there would be no Tom, at least not on the Pats.
From my perspective, great player >>>> great coach

Peyton Manning took a .300 college coach to a Super Bowl. Troy Aikman took a mid coach Barry Switzer to a championship. I don't remember the last time a great coach singlehandedly took a bad team to a championship. In any sport. Likely because that can't happen. It's all about the players, always was and always will be. And BB himself agrees with that.

Anyway I don't want to make this Tom vs Bill part XLVI, that was not my intention. I think it's completely fair to point out that the coaching dysfunction from 2022-2023 had a lot and I really do mean a lot more to do with Jones faceplanting in NE than anything else. If you think Jones always sucked and that excuses coach Bill then it's fair to wonder why GM Bill drafted him in the first round. And that's not "hating" except from the perspective of Bill apologists who can't tolerate anything that says their hero is less than perfect.

Yeah and when you're comparing a first round pick like Jones to Bailey Zappe - that's definitely a problem.

No ****?! I could've sworn you're a coaches over players kinda guy and really thought it was Bill who did everything. Huh.

My dad coasted through his 60s thinking getting old was overrated. Then he turned 70 and calls that the real line when you truly feel it. He's 77 now. Still rides a bike, works, and drinks whiskey every day.

Your early to mid 60's are when you start discovering maybe your Mom was on to something back when she suggested you should treat your body like the temple she knew it was instead of the carnival tent you were sure it was intended to be. Mid to late 60's is when the bill for all those carny shows starts coming due and you discover just how staggering the accrued interest truly is.
In your 70's the damn tent just falls the hell in.

Your Dad and I have a bit in common. I still ride a bike (a few in fact although the Norton is getting to be a tough ride these days) and most everday I work at drinking whiskey

That answer is easy: it's because @sb1 hates Bill Belichick and for him every thread is an "I Hate Bill Belichick" thread.

It's not any criticism but criticism from a known BB hater and a Jets fan trolling.
