Scary thing is we don't even know if he's a good coordinator. Some guys like Pepper Johnson or Scar are just really good position coaches.
Nick Caley is listed as a TE's Coach pass game coordinator: Mike Laufleur is their OC. What's the word on Laufleur??

He doesn't call plays, McVay does. He was also the coordinator for the Jets for 2 years. He had a crap QB but they still stunk on offense.

Sadly, Kraft is probably not changing coaches because he'll feel he needs to give Mayo 2 years. I agree with that on a general basis but not when a unique talent like Ben Johnson is out there. Like I would have sent 3 1st round picks for Maye if you had to, I'd give up quite a bit to land Johnson. IF you just have to fire Mayo to land Johnson it is a no brainer. Other than Johnson I don't see anyone that is a slam dunk to end up any better than Mayo would long term. I don't even know if Johnson has the aptitude be a good head coach but his offense would be really good with Maye and a top offense means playoffs every year.

The easiest way to get the very few innovative and top-notch offensive coordinators is to hire them as head coach.

The only one I can definitively say will be available is Ben Johnson. Would they really replace AVP with a Caley level coach and hope they are a young McVay in waiting?
Probably not, but that's the only other way of possibly getting a top Coordinator.

I kind of feel like the Pats are where the Chargers have been for several seasons: A good QB, an underwhelming team, poor coaches. And now I have to wait for the owners to get out of their own way and turn the team over to a real football professional.

I don’t know I’m always leery of guys who have a head coach who institutes most of the offensive scheme
That's one of Ben Johnson's biggest selling points. You're more likely to find his HC shotgunning a beer than going over the intricacies of the forward pass.

Let's think of it from Ben Johnson's point of view. If he goes somewhere, he's going to want to go someplace with a young QB in place (check), able to set up his own GM (not sure Kraft will dump Wolf and Groh even if he does dump Mayo, which is also doubtful), and will command a lot of money (will Kraft do that after paying Bill so much money?).

Even if Kraft went after him, I think other openings could be more attractive (Jacksonville?).

Hoping Bears DE Sweat sits this one out as well.

I'm all in on Johnson even IF it means we moving on from Mayo. I love the kind of Offense He runs.

Kliff Kingsbury as a an option. Could have a Renaissance like Dan quinn
That's where I'm leaning, too. Put a better structure around him than the Cardinals did and maybe he could do well.

I am not against that ^ either good experience and can run a Potent Offense. IF the Kraft's blow Black Monday 2025 Doom on Them: you ain't going to find a better bunch of Coordinators available.

Kliff Kingsbury is already proven on the College level and had a measure of success in the Pros. This time might be the charm.

I don't think there's anything attractive about Jacksonville, T Lawrence is too inconsistent. And they're are locked in with his recent Extension sucks being them.

Yeah, I don't disagree. But the supporting cast is much better, so someone like Johnson might think they could turn it around faster than someplace like the Patriots which still needs a lot of talent.

I didn't realize the Bears have won 9 straight home games, last 5 last year and then 4-0 this year.

Though the 4 wins this year are:
Titans
Rams (injury plagued that game)
Panthers
Jaguars.

These are 2 bad teams. I think Pats would win this if at home.
IMO, If you had a draft of all the players on both teams, Drake Maye would be chosen first.
I think If Bears had to do the 2024 draft over, they would not choose William over Maye or Daniels.

Of all the Three QB's J Daniels was the most Tempting and we are seeing it now. But his body type was only concern coming in the NFL. Drake Maye is the Prototypical got it all: can do it all. It's hard not to like Caleb Williams I see some Mahomes in his game: excellent arm strength and escapability. None of their stories are written yet, I like all three QB's and wish em all good health.

I suspect it will not go over well, but I find it hard to enjoy the games these days when the incompetence of the coaches and of the GM places our young quarterback in such peril play after play after play. It's infuriating, though not as infuriating as the likelihood that the besotted old fool of an owner will likely do absolutely nothing about it.

I had hopes for him. He was whiffing on tackles too like Wilson. I don't know know why these guys regressed.. pelligrino IMO is the best DB coach in the NFL.
You have called it all year Real, after Gonzo all our so called Big CB's suck. Whether it's Wilson - Austin or Dial Jr.

I think this is absolutely right, and I wish the owners would begin now to lay the basis for acting on this fact. Step one would be to acknowledge their near across-the-board failure to run a professional hiring process and thereby to put in place a competent post-Belichick leadership team: Coaches, front office, the whole dismal lot.
