Thank god another Mayo thread
Shall we return to the sort of giddy horseshit we wasted our time with after the the Jets "win"?

I thought the call to not go for two was a poor one. Your offense has momentum. Come up with a bootleg or some trick play and win the game. I think Bill and most coaches go for two in that spot.

If he was making the right coaching decisions and the team wasn't talented enough to take advantage, that would be one thing. But his area of expertise (D) is bad. His management stinks. I'm unsure what he does on the sidelines. Kraft needs to understand no loyalty should be given to Mayo. The loyalty and priority should be the franchise. Specifically, coaches suited for Maye. You can't afford to waste 2025. Assuming no improvement, fire him and give a blank check to Johnson or some other innovative Offensive mind out there.

My biggest concern: Mayo and his staff are retained while Kraft pours tons of money into signing free agents and they have a good draft. The team will show improvement yet not make the leap it could with competent coaching. It's a recipe for mediocrity, perhaps for years to come.

Everyone *****ing about not going for two conveniently leaving up the fact that they struggle to even score the touchdown the first place.

Total Titan incompetence is the only reason you scored.

What a depressing thought, we could be wandering in the nfl (super bowl) desert for many years

We've had front row view of the Jets for many many years. We know what this will look like.

I wanted 2 too but Bill would've never gone for two. He was equally cowardly and behind the curve the last few years

The smart play was to kick the EP and go to overtime. Especially the way the offense was playing all day.

The dumb decision was not taking the correct side of the field when they lost the toss.

The dilemma not only the Pats face is that coaching in the NFL in general has been on a decline for years. There has been way too much turnover. Let’s say they move on from Mayo, the chances that the Pats find an effective coach are pretty slim.

Andy Reid is the last HC to coach in the 90’s, 2000’s, 2010’s into the 2020’s. Once he’s gone, the list of HC’s in the NFL is quite brutal.

It's water under the bridge now, but there were much more qualified candidates to succeed BB than Mayo. I will hazard a guess that upgrading from Mayo after this season would not be difficult. I'll toss Vrabel's hat into the ring for starters; also, Detroit's Johnson is oft mentioned.

The problem is you don't hire a neophyte like Mayo to oversee a ground-up rebuild. I assume Kraft's plan was that BB would leave the football operation humming along and Mayo could gradually acclimate himself as coaching CEO. Instead, Mayo inherited a weak player roster and nonexistent coaching staff, which he's ill-equipped to manage from standpoints of football knowledge and experience.

If MayoNays were white, Thunderdick wouldn’t have hired him.
I think it was more the dreamy eyes and pleasing manner which so captured Robert's attention.

To those who think further discussion of Mayo's tenure is uncalled for, surely a 92% vote in favor of firing any team's head coach is significant, is it not?

Would Ben Johnson demand similar control to what BB got to come here?

He should, and the Krafts need to be hands off.

Drake Maye should be an attractive piece to lure a top HC/GM talent here, working for the Krafts, much less so.

Yeah, who wouldn't want to work with owners who brought their team 6 Super Bowls.
The Krafts' role was to hire the right man for the job, on the basis of that candidate's football resume and skills, not because some old fool copped a man-crush on him.

What a cowardly and defeatist post.
