Pats front office at the deadline

Callahan’s proposals:
Bourne + 7th for future 5th
Osborn + 7th for 6th
Jonathan Jones for future 6th
5th for Emmanuel Forbes + 6th

I’d definitely keep Jones if that’s all he’s worth, especially since Callahan has him going to the Vikings, who would need the Pats to pay down Jones’ contract before trading him. I’d be open to re-signing him this offseason, so I’m not ready to give him away. Kind of the same idea with Bourne, who already is under contract and should be fully healthy to compete for a starting role in training camp. The 49ers don’t have their 2025 5th, so I get why he had to make it 2026. That just seems like a big difference to me. Osborn can go for that value or even less, frankly.

Forbes fits the reclamation project profile, with the added fun of him being the guy they picked before Gonzalez. I’ll make the caveat that I always do with first round rookie contracts. Forbes is due right around $5M total in 2025 and 2026, but it’s fully guaranteed. If you get anything out of him, then $2.5M per year is perfectly fine. If he really busts and doesn’t make the 2025 roster, then you’re still on the hook for those guarantees (minus offsets) once he clears waivers. That $5M is the bigger risk than the minimal trade value.
I have no idea why we'd eat Bourne's guaranteed money for almost nothing. Enthusiastic player who is a leader. Coming off ACL surgery, why would we throw him away?

Sorry for not reading the entire thread, but a question:

WHY WERE WE NOT IN ON Cam Robinson and Dionate Johnson?

We could have easily absorbed their salaries or given them an extension before FA in 2025, no?
Nobody trades away quality tackles. Cam Robinson probably sucks.

Everywhere teams Oline are stinking. Texans Oline looks horrendous with absence of 2 stud wide receivers.

So our Oline is actually decent considering we don't have playmakers at wr position.

Keep up upskilling Lowe . I am liking what peters is doing on the Oline . Hopefully Lowe, strange , brown and Wallace pan out with Robinson and Jacobs becoming very good swing options.

Then the next draft and off-season will be really set well when we go from a position of strength on the Oline. If Polk develops into the possession receiver we could be all on on tee Higgins stake and just need a CB 2 , Developmental tight end, bruising back, couple of veteran linebackers , 1 stud edge player and few depth pieces on CB.

WOLF!!!

But he is far better than what we have right now and could play RT too….

Just a hypothetical question for all of you to gauge what you think. Would you trade a 2nd Round and a 4th Round Pick in 2025, and a 3rd Round Pick in 2026 for D.K. Metcalf? The question isn't whether or not Seattle would take the deal, the question is would you do it? Furthermore, what would you give up in a trade before the deadline this year for Metcalf? Discuss.

I’m not sure why the Seahawks would entertain trading him now when they can probably get the exact same value for him in the offseason without hurting themselves the remainder of this season.

What were they supposed to do?

You’re certainly not giving up assets while rebuilding,

Nope.
He's almost 27 and gets injured a lot. Really good player, but he's someone you'd consider 2 more years into the rebuild as a piece. They need those picks for actual players, in theory.

Tennessee QB's suck like Brissett if you haven't noticed.

So you give Tennessee’s star receivers a pass because the QB sucks, but you think the Patriots rookie receivers are a bust even though they were playing with Brissett.

Sure

The only way they are traded is if they want out like Trent Williams did.

At this point Metcalf would not move the needle enough to make it worth the risky investment. The last few 1b type WR to switch teams mid career have not done that much and he already seems to be on the downside, or at least reached his ceiling. The price could only be justified if he was the last piece, not on this Pats team.

So you think the Patriots rookie receivers are a bust even though they were playing with Brissett.
So you think a QB, other than Brissett, could throw the ball more gently so our stone hands rookie receivers could catch it? Maybe we could find a QB that throws underhand and, poof, our rookie WRs would start catching the ball?

No at this point. Our 2nd round is top 40. Metcalf has another 2 season tops. There is heightened injury risk .

No idea why we would do that, we are in re-build and stand a good chance of getting one of the two best WR's in the coming draft. either Travis Hunter or Tetairoa McMillan
