Surprised he didn't say Wolf is holding out for a 2026 5th. Would have made it more convincing. This was from a joke account.

Wouldn't miss Bourne and Osborne and have no desire for Forbes. I no longer remember why, but I do remember that I that he was too skinny and didn't make plays. Why we would want to trade Jonathan Jones, a real Patriot, a real leader stepping up, a consistent performer, for a 6th round draft choice, boggles the mind. Please keep JJ. Unless you think the 6th round draft choice would be the resurrection of Tom Brady, don't do it.Callahan: 4 Patriots fake trades and 1 dilemma before NFL deadline
The NFL trade deadline is less than a week away. Here are 4 trades the Patriots should make before 4 p.m. Tuesday.www.bostonherald.com
Callahan’s proposals:
Bourne + 7th for future 5th
Osborn + 7th for 6th
Jonathan Jones for future 6th
5th for Emmanuel Forbes + 6th
I’d definitely keep Jones if that’s all he’s worth, especially since Callahan has him going to the Vikings, who would need the Pats to pay down Jones’ contract before trading him. I’d be open to re-signing him this offseason, so I’m not ready to give him away. Kind of the same idea with Bourne, who already is under contract and should be fully healthy to compete for a starting role in training camp. The 49ers don’t have their 2025 5th, so I get why he had to make it 2026. That just seems like a big difference to me. Osborn can go for that value or even less, frankly.
Forbes fits the reclamation project profile, with the added fun of him being the guy they picked before Gonzalez. I’ll make the caveat that I always do with first round rookie contracts. Forbes is due right around $5M total in 2025 and 2026, but it’s fully guaranteed. If you get anything out of him, then $2.5M per year is perfectly fine. If he really busts and doesn’t make the 2025 roster, then you’re still on the hook for those guarantees (minus offsets) once he clears waivers. That $5M is the bigger risk than the minimal trade value.
Maybe they did have an offer in, maybe multiple teams, and the jags gave him the option of where he wanted to go??
Don't know, just a thought. Where would you go? To the Patriots or one of the better teams in the league?
Makes you wonder if Wolf is planning on the team sucking again next season and only turning the corner in Maye year 3?The Jags wouldn't have given him an option if we simply out bid the Vikings' offer of a 5th (that could turn into a 4th). And the Jags STILL ate 7M. The Patriots could have picked up all of his salary...and offered the Jags their 4th (we have an extra 3rd from the Judon trade).
I'd have done it if Cam Robinson would have agreed to a 2 year extension for 2025-2026. We could have used him to play LT next year...and possibly RT the year after that. We have the cap space to do those kinds of deals.....
Well...coulda, shoulda, woulda......(shrugs)
I would give up a 4th for E Forbes we Desperately need another Outside CB.Callahan: 4 Patriots fake trades and 1 dilemma before NFL deadline

Well Forbes isn’t going to help with that right now, because he’s been horrifically bad. I’m thinking long term, whether they could train him up enough over the offseason to make him a decent #4 CB in 2025 with a chance of being a #2 in 2026.I would give up a 4th for E Forbes we Desperately need another Outside CB.
If they have to go LT as their first pick, hope they don't have first pick in the draft cause there are much better value options than that.I love MacMillen and Hunter but they have to go LT with their first pick. If the scouting reports come down that Campbell and Banks aren’t worthy of a high pick they will have a tough choice to make, but if the value is close they have to go LT.

We didn't draft PattenPatten, givens, branch, Julian, Mitchell, Myers, and pop. That's 7 WRs in 2 decades that I can recall whom we're drafted who worked out. That's Pathetic! Let's see what Boutte, Polk and baker's end up becoming.
Your right as he went undrafted so no one drafted him. LOL.We didn't draft Patten
Feels like to me.. the teams using this season to allow the new regime to settle in and allow maye to acclimate to the league. I have to say I'm so thankful to have drake.. with everything around him shot to ****.. he's handling things very well.Makes you wonder if Wolf is planning on the team sucking again next season and only turning the corner in Maye year 3?
I know its early, so far Maye's demeanor and approach are more impressive than his physical skills. I agree that this season is all about developing Maye and building around him. That is a pragmatic approach that needs to evolve now that we know that Maye is good enough to start and the locker room has had its say. Wolf needs to recognize that this years team needs to be considered part of preparation for next year instead of trading off leadership and talent that would impact building momentum.Feels like to me.. the teams using this season to allow the new regime to settle in and allow maye to acclimate to the league. Whole heartily agree! It's also important to win some games down the stretch. So things are looking up heading into the off season. Keep the leaders that we have in Godchaux, KB around this season. This team needs all the leaders I can get. They need to build of last week and use it to propel them the rest of the season. 5 to 6 wins this season would be an accomplishment .I know its early, so far Maye's demeanor and approach are more impressive than his physical skills. And out of all those only Branch was identified as high pick worthy and who then paid off. The others were all shots in the dark - pretty successful shots in the dark, but if they hadn't worked out it would have been no big deal. I can only think of Morgan, Fryar, and Glenn as early round picks who played to expected level, in addition to Branch. Considering the success rate the Pats should always trade any 1st, 2nd round picks they think to spend on WR for multiple 5-7s and take a scatter gun approach.Patten, givens, branch, Julian, Mitchell, Myers, and pop. Totally forgot about T. Glenn. Just imagine if he had been healthy and stayed here. He and brady would have been excellent together. Brady would have Glenn on the outside, brown in the slot and branch on the outside as well. But your right you alway want to take swings in the draft. I'm hopeful with polk and baker. They have as QB who can get them the ball. Hopefully we can see something from them both the remainder of the season. And out of all those only Branch was identified as high pick worthy and who then paid off.
