Patriots Player Departure Josh Uche traded to Chiefs for 2026 6th

As many others have said. Dude was doing nothing for the Pats and was probably one of the guys "freelancing" and causing issues. Just clogging up a roster spot at this stage. So you get some little bit of value from him and create a roster spot for someone else you'd rather have on the 53 developing. Obviously not a high pick, but it is a nice toss-in for a future trade when trying to move up to target a player in the draft.

I don't care about the "helping the Chiefs" **** at this point. I only care about the Patriots winning and the Jets losing.

I’ve seen others post that too, but why? They’re 7-0. Yeah, they’re flawed, but who’s going to knock them off? The Bills are as inconsistent as ever. The Ravens have a history of blowing it in the playoffs, and have allowed more points than the Pats thus far this season. The Texans? Diggs might be done for the year. The 9ers have major injury issues. The Lions? Awesome story, but would anyone bet money on Goff over Mahomes in the Super Bowl?

I’m not seeing it yet, as much as I’d like to see it.

Very true, the lions could average 40 ppg from here until the sb while mahomes goes in with a 1:1 td:int ratio and i still wouldn’t feel comfortable about goff beating them.

In 2021, we traded Stephon Gilmore for a 2023 6th round pick.

In 2023, we drafted Kayshon Boutte with that pick.

Just saying that those draft picks do work out sometimes.....it is something for nothing. Uche deserved to go to a winner, we weren't gonna back up the Brinks truck for him in March.

I'm fine with getting any pick for Uche. Last year of his contract. He's a liability against the run and little benefit against the pass.

Brinks truck? Uche? He’s closer to a vet minimum guy.

Return not so great ... thought a 5th ...
this is more like a 7th. Best of luck to him ... he's going on a great ride.

What the hell is "# a sex pected?" Is that like a muscular 69?

Bill the genius still undercutting his former colleagues. He has no idea if they would get a comp pick for him.
If they sign a lot of free agents they wont get any comps.
He is on a mission to destroy the franchise.

I can write a 200 page post on all the personnel moves he f’ed up

Spiteful old man

If they don’t sign him they’ll get a comp pick, which will probably be a sixth anyway

We have a ton of cap space coach and we'll likely be using a lot of it so what makes you think we're getting any comp pick at all for him? Pats got what they could for someone who it seems has no place here anymore. It is what it is.

Uche wasn't being utilized here so at least we got a pick.

If he can't perform in a Spagnulo defense where he should thrive, then he's never gonna be a regular contributor in any defense.

IF Maye gets' back under Center: Mayo will win more Games that BB expected.

The bitterness is on display on both sides...I do think this is his payback for Krafts being less than diplomatic since the breakup.

That said, hes not wrong... I don't really see the point in moving on from him for that return.

I agree, if they get comp picks in 2026, I'd be disappointed in there free agent spending. Uche is having a down year and only signed for 3 million. He's not getting big money, and his role is unlikely to be full time on the new team. NFL Insiders reported before the trade a 6th is all they'd get for Uche and since the 2026 draft is looking way better than 2025 I'd rather wait a year anyways.

Patriots free agents in 2025 at link and very few would be compensatory picks:

If they don't sign more than that in 2025 off season, I'd be shocked.

BB is just going to trash the Pats regardless of reality. He's biased and his opinion on the Pats is just not based on a fair view of things.

Really?

Thunder has a natural tendency to hoard cash. (Traditionally bottom of the league cash spenders)
Wolf's "The Packer Way" philosophy leans heavily on the draft.
Kraft Group business principles are en vogue in Foxborough.
Mayo's "Ready to burn some cash" declaration earlier in the year was immediately walked back.

Assuming the team will deviate from its DNA is presumptuous.
