It appears that the plan was to draft the franchise QB this year, hang onto as much cap space as possible, get as high a draft spot as possible in 2025 and make the big moves next year. If 2025 is also a crap year, that plan will be scrapped along with the coaching staff.
Also, the plan was to extend all of the players that the staff wanted for the playoff runs in 2025-2027.

Apparently, they are not sure about Wise and Jon Jones. I'd keep them both. We need veteran leadership in the clubhouse as well as on the field.

I think it depends on how the rest of 2024 goes. If it’s like the last six games . . .
yup. If we terribly for the rest of the season, message board posters will go nuts.

That will change Kraft's plan not at all.

We’ll see. Honestly, I have no idea what Kraft will do.

You're missing the point.
Did they play execrably? - Yes.
Do they deserve to be called out for it? - Yes.
Do they deserve to be called out for it publicly? - By the press, yes; by the fans, yes. By their coach, emphatically no; his criticisms belong in house.
"Execrably" Nice.

He's had one draft and the season of that draft isn't even halfway over yet.

That’s ok, these guys would have gotten rid of both Belichick and Brady their first year. Both were obvious busts, no need to wait and see how they actually work out. Hell, Brady hadn’t even completed one pass seven games into his rookie season, what a waste of a draft pick.

We had the 3rd pick in the draft, the 3rd ranked QB on just about everyone's board fell to the Pats, and Wolf took him. Hard to screw that up.

Yet if he fails, which according to many here happens to 70% of 1st round QB’s then Wolf was an idiot for not trading back, and ruined the franchise. So he gets the blame if Maye fails, but not the credit if he succeeds. Totally reasonable, very logical. Almost as reasonable and logical as giving him 6 months to turn the franchise around.

Note:This really isn’t meant for you Peachhead, it’s just my vent.

And he's somehow made a 4-13 team worse already.

You don't seem to understand just how bad this team is. The 2000 Patriots would kick the dogshit out of this team. This is the worst team we've had here since 1990.

That’s hard to argue with given their performance so far this season, but I think the reality of where they are at is different than that. I’m off to work but I’ll return to this next chance I get and give you my take on it. You probably won’t agree, but I’ll give it anyways.

There are nuggets of talent on this team beyond Drake Maye, but on the whole, you are correct.

It’s why you want to build a team with a lot of middle class players, rather than stars and scrubs. Like someone else used to…..
Bill got rid of Richard Seymour after the first half of the dynasty and they didn't win another SB for years. Then he dumped Brady, Gronk, Gilmore and Thuney and the team fell faster than a lead balloon. Dumping stars doesn't win anything.

Just doing what's best for the football team.

LOL. Bill "feels bad for the players." I miss his tender-hearted and compassionate nature, don't you?
He's lobbying for a coaching job.

Based on....'trust me, bro' or the voices in your head?
I'd ask that same question to the fans here who think that Mayo has lost the team or think they know what's going on in the locker room.

Dark energy forcing the observable universe to continue expanding 13.8 billion years after the Big Bang is incomprehensible.

Mayo calling out his team as "soft" after they got pushed around by the Jacksonville Jaguars is not only comprehensible, it is true. These large adult men being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars need to suck it up, look at the tape, and say, yeah, we got manhandled by a 1-5 team. Do you really think the egos of these manchildren who played high school and college football are not used to being called out by their coach?

Soft? Dante Scarnecchia used much more colorful language than that when his offensive line let some large man ruffle Tom Brady's skirt. Are these guys such babies that they can't be called out?

Mayo did not do it for his ego. He called out his team for getting mauled by The Jacksonville Jaguars!
The players can handle it but a segment of the fanbase obviously can't.

Yeah ideally. You have a team full of B's and then a few A's at key positions including QB. Pats used to be good they never had some mediocre trash tier units. Usually the biggest weak point was still a decent challenge for the opposing team.

I get the point about not being lopsided. You don't want a piece of trash team but then have Stafford and Johnson as studs and then try to compensate that way. But the answer isn't to give up on stars either. Who was the last team to win a Super Bowl without some sort of super elite talent.

2023: Mahomes and Kelce

2007: Strahan, Umeniyora, Burress
