What do you expect from Maye on Sunday?

More interesting will be the first start of another rookie QB, Spencer Rattler, with New Orleans.

He has a better supporting cast. Nonetheless, it will be point of emphasis with me to contrast picks 3 and 150.

Quick Google and I found 26.5 o/u for Drake rushing yards. Seems like a lot of a rookie QB getting his first start but I still think I like that bet too.
Drake Maye averaged 37.4 yards per game at North Carolina his junior year and over 300 passing yards per game for his career

I have high hopes for Maye, but if he fails it's more likely because our offensive line looks like it has since week one of last season

13/24 152 yards 0 TD 1 INT

My guess is far better than anything we saw out of Brissett the first five games, but still not great. He might make a big play or two or even three that makes you optimistic for the future, but I also expect him to make some really bad mistakes.

That'd be stat line if BB was still coaching.
But, in our situation, with this decision coming the way it did, they better not play him with handcuffs on.
I want to see good balance on O, with run game - but no need to pander for a "rookie", let him rip a few.
He'll get slaughtered if they don't let him test the D deep and only throw on 3rd down.
We'll also be behind, so chances are he'll throw over 200yds.
I do expect 1 or 2 INT's, but it'll be fine if also gets 2TD's.

Official: 18/28 240yds 2TD 2INT

People on here want him hurt? That makes no sense. Who are these people?
I haven't heard anyone say that. Those for and against him playing seem to be unified on hoping for no injuries or even no big hits. I do suspect some "Play Drake" folks wouldn't mind seeing him fail as a starting QB, because they didn't like the pick at #3.

I think by the numbers he far exceeded all reasonable expectations.

The biggest thing to me was how he responded to the shaky start. He threw a bad pick, got roughed up a bit, missed some throws. Could have easily crumbled but he came back to play great. After that 3 td’s, lost fumble, and a freak pick that im not really gonna crush him for. That fumble has to be a throwaway though. Made some plays with his legs too. Great sign for those of us worried about him getting broken this year.

It went better than I thought it would. No complaints from me.

You expected worse than 3 turnovers?

You expected worse than 3 turnovers?
Let's talk about those three turnovers for a moment. Only the first INT where Drake Maye threw high and into the secondary was indeed a mistake and should not have happened. The other two were products of good defense and a rookie lineman getting beat at the line.

The second INT was pure and simple a great play by the d-lineman to get his hand up at the last moment in the passing lane followed by and even better play by the defender to hang onto the football on the back of the the Patriots receiver who could not have expected the ball to come fluttering at him after the tip. That was not Drake's fault.

The fumble on the strip sack by Danielle Hunter was entirely 2nd year RT Demontray Jacobs's getting beaten off the snap and giving Hunter a free shot at Maye. Danielle Hunter sparks strip-sack takeaway vs. Drake Maye at Pats' 10-yard line

I'll tell you that I was pretty impressed with Jarrod Mayor saying the words, "we let him down" when asked about Drake Maye's toughness in this game. I'm hoping that this lights a fire under both the offense and defense to play to their maximum level since this kid gives them a chance to win.

Mac Jones started well and then… well you know. I want to see Maye when the league has seen tape on him and prepares for him. How he responds will tell the tale…

@SHOWTIME15 laughed at me when I said in 2021 I’d trade Mac Jones for Lawrence anyday. Nice call lmao
