Lazar: Patriots Lockerroom Teetering on a Mutiny

I agree, adversity is opportunity. Mayo has the opportunity to turn this into a culture building event.
I just have not seen anything yet from Mayo that tells me he can be that guy.
So far he seems way too concerned about what people think about him than a guy with a standard, a plan, and an unwavering approach
A Very Good QB can make a HC and vise/versa Mayo know his job is safe for at least two years.

Where is Tom Jackson when you need him?

They Hate their HC!

He did not do a total walk back, he stood by every reason he gave for that conclusion and walked back the word he used.
He did not retract any of the issues or reasons he gave to reach that conclusion.
Yeah, I think this is being missed... I think folks are hyper focused on the word "mutiny" which was indeed strong word choice but the issues that lead to the statement are all still there and Lazar didn't walk any of that back.

He did totally walk it back. He said it was his OPINION if this continue to be bad that Mayo could lose the locker room if they don't go to Mayo. That is totally different than claiming the team is on the brink of a mutiny.

It is just common sense to believe that some or even most players would not be happy to be losing with a really bad QB and what they perceive as much better QB sitting on the bench. Doesn't mean you have any inside sources saying it is remotely close.

Lazar has been on the start Maye brigade for a while. So his opinion on this could be biased. But he said in his retraction he has no sources and that he is worried that if Maye doesn't get a shot soon, that he thinks the Mayo might lose the players. 100% his opinion. Nothing based in actual facts which is what Lazar admitted to. 100% retraction.

I don't think they cut it because it was ********. I think they cut it because it was hyperbolic and could enflame the situation. That said, because this is the Patriots own media entity, it does create the question of whose decision it was to edit it out.
It's really just one word that's an issue, though. If you changed "on the verge of a mutiny" with "on the verge of losing the locker room", or something like that, and left the rest of the audio intact, would anything be lost? It's all valid and holds up.

He did walk back that he has no inside information that this team is on the brink of a mutiny and it was only his opinion. The fact that players are frustrated is pretty evident. It doesn't mean that the team is remotely close to turning on Mayo as the original comments by Lazar suggested.

I mean, he does have a lot of inside information. He works for the team and has locker room access.

It's kind of corporate PR 101 that when one of your employees says something controversial, you trot them out there to say the classic line - "my words are my own opinion and do not reflect the views of my employer" blah blah blah. But whether you want to spin it as an opinion or a report, it doesn't really matter. It's his "opinion" that he gets the feeling while talking to players with his locker room access that this is a problem. So... it's a problem.

I still think those would be too strong. We don't know if Mayo's on the verge of losing the locker room, which was Lazar's point when he issued the sort-of-retraction. All he can accurately report is there's a lot of frustration. Who it's aimed at and how it could vent isn't really known. Lazar saying it could lead to mutiny or losing the team is a possibility, but it's a leap too far that he said in the middle of an argument.

Because mutiny on the bounty's what we're all about
I'm gonna board your ship and turn it on out
No soft sucker with a parrot on his shoulder
'Cause I'm bad, gettin' bolder, cold getting colder
Terrorizing suckers on the seven seas
And if you've got beef, you'll get capped in the knees
We got sixteen men on a dead man's chest
And I shot those suckers and I'll shoot the rest

I said there is a possibility that Lazar was ordered to walk it back, but it doesn't change that that it was 100% walk back.

He said the locker room was teetering on a mutiny. That is strong language stating that Mayo has already begun to lose the locker room and the players are about to turn on him. But now he is saying he has no inside information on it and it was his only his opinion that if things don't change in a few weeks, there could be a real problem.

I mean how different is this from last year or even the year before? Player were upset then about the state of the team and they are now. But that is a long way from "being on the brink of mutiny". And it is not any breaking news that the players are upset. Polk and Pop had their temper tantrums on the field in front of 60k people.

A Very Good QB can make a HC and vise/versa Mayo know his job is safe for at least two years.
That’s not very reassuring.

It takes both.

I believe this is a different team with Vrabel.
Cousin, You hit the nail on the head. Vrabel was the only choice.

Brissett might be a nice guy but a statue back there. Slow decision making process.

Many on this site mocked Justin Fields the Pats could have had for nada and let him try to win a game or two .......but......heresy!!!!!. The Steelers OL rots almost.....I said almost.... as bad as ours. He is 3-1 and leading the conference. His passing rating is 70% to Brissetts 60%. He has thrown 3 TDs to Brissetts 2 and has run for 3 TDs in four games. and 146 yards on the ground to 41 for Brissett. Fields is averaging over 200 yards per game to 122 for Brissette. 15 sacks versus 10.

Wrong moves for Coach and "sacrificial" 2024 QB.

My thoughts.

Vrabel? I think people would be disappointed when the Vrabel they think they're getting is not the one they actually get. Overrated, IMO

He never said it wasn’t his opinion.
He was saying what he observed.
He didn’t walk back any observation just the phrase he used.

If things don’t change he could lose the locker room is the same as in the brink of mutiny it’s just a friendlier way of saying the same thing.

He never said he had sources, he was clear that it was what he was observing first hand.

I’m not sure how anyone ever took this as anything other than a first hand observation and a report if his perception of what he is observing. That is his job after all.

I 100% believe Lazar's reporting and the Patriots are pathetic for attempting to silence the report. Clown franchise from the top down. What other organization doesn't interview a single external coach or GM candidate when hiring for those positions (just to name an obvious example of their extreme ineptitude and nepotism)? No surprise the on-field product is the worst in the NFL.
