The end of the road is near for David Andrews... Ten years in, he's played what, three full seasons?

I think he's a good center... Just think it's time to hang up the cleats...

Maybe Jake Andrews will be a viable replacement... But he's hurt too... Add another "need" to the draft list

He hasn’t made that much money (relatively of course) I bet he’ll play out that final year.

OTC shows the extension he signed is fully guaranteed... so he can play, get cut, it all costs the same for us... Or reach an injury settlement with the team... BB used to do that when feasible... Think the roster spot is more valuable than an injured David Andrews moving forward

I'm not sure of the issue.

If Andrews needs surgery, he should have it. It's not crucial to the team for him to play injured. And yes, that will make it more likely that he plays in 2025 and mentors his replacement. He got an extension to play in 2025; he'll play.

This injury is exactly the reason that he wanted the extension. He wanted to guarantee $3.5M of additional money.

We saw how Quinten Williams tossed him like a rag doll in that Jets game that was the confirmation for me.

Yeah, there's no reason for him to risk a career ending complication for a season that isn't likely to go anywhere. I'd rather have him for one more year (even if it's only the first half while a rookie gets up to speed) than have him at 50% in a lost season. The only real unfortunate thing would be if Maye does play this year, Andrews would have been a great resource for him on the field. But again, if he's not 100%, it may end up doing more harm than good anyway.

Such a gut punch. Another one. Now 2 of our captains and most tenured guys, and probably most important guys on both sides of the LoS are out. Bentley & Andrews are the ones people look to. This is horrible.
The first year of the non-BB era is going to be a true dumpster fire.

Even Andrew’s not at his best is still the leader of the OL. Tough to replace that especially when you have so many inexperienced guys coming in and out.

Center is now a high draft priority, right up there with LT. Andrews has always been an adequate center, making up in smarts for being undersized. (The other Andrews was supposed to be the in case of fire, break glass standby. Turns out he is glass). Considering his age and the severity of this injury it's probably best to plan on him not contributing going forward. Count it as gravy if he's back at some point.

Not that you've heard this before on the forum... however just another ball drop by the front office of not having quality depth on the line... they knew Jake was on IR as well as strange... how Dave Andrews has been a warrior... and he should at least be a patriots hall of famer IMO

Strange did this last year. Gutted it out rather than getting surgery and gave his all for a terrible season for the team. And then got the surgery in the off season and isn't available to start this year. I admire the toughness of these guys a lot, but god knows these are some terrible Patriot teams to give up your health for.

I’m just thankful we pulled out game 1. We’ll avoid a winless season.

Dunno about anyone else but I get the feeling this just isn't our year. Maybe it's just me though...

It doesn't sit well with me that a beast like Andrews is considering playing through this injury while the front office keeps trotting out Jacoby because they are afraid to play Maye.

Minor point but Strange gutted out one injury and then a second injury was the one he needed the surgery for that is still keeping him out.
