I getting that the team has no talent, but they are not even trying to win games. That is the part that bugs me. I don't care if they lose, but they should at least coach the game like a ****ty team trying to win games instead of a good team that thinks they can score points at will.

Trent Williams missed 1 pass play last week, and Purdy was immediately sacked, very few teams have any line depth, Patriots happen to have less and have injuries across every line position. What team's 4th string Left Tackle would fair well against Joey Bosa? Why does AVP have the 4th string tackle 1 on 1 with Bosa without help?

With Robinson and Jacobs, adding Onwenu out of position, and now Andrews out, the line has no chance, but no line in the NFL would have a chance playing only 1 starter in his position. Add the fact Jacoby cannot move and its hopeless. If you want some semblance of a competitive offense then you have to play Maye because he can move, he can run away from pressure, he can throw accurately on the run.
Daniels is either standing there all day in the pocket or just runs away from any pressure. Purdy either had all day or ran away from pressure. We don't have the line to stand there all day so you need to run away from pressure, Jacoby can't so there is no hope, at least with Maye you got more hope he can run away from pressure.
So, if you are not playing Maye because of the line, then you are not prioritizing wanting to win, and if that's the case you accept losing and are playing for draft position.
On a positive note, schedule gets easier, they were never beating the 1-2 49ers on the road, they needed that win and they were not overlooking the Pats. They are 1-3 when most expected 0-4.
Until they get 4 actual starters playing on the line, they need to win low scoring games, Miami at home with a backup QB off a short week is the ideal game right now, if they don't play a close game in that 1......?

All the injuries are just the football gods punishing us for not starting Maye

Can someone explain to me in simple sentences why a team who drafted ahead of us in the draft are already looking this good while we have become the laughing stock of the league? If the answer is they made better hires then that's an admission of incompetence not an excuse. Yes, they have Daniels, but let's be honest if we had Daniels he'd be holding the clipboard.
They beat 3 teams.

1 was a team we did in fact beat.

1 is the Giants who are a bottomfeeder team that we would have a shot against.

The last is a 1-3 Cardinals team who haven't looked so hot.

The Niners who we just lost to are much better than any team Washington beat. Seattle is one of the few undefeafted teams in the league and looks better than anyone Washington beat. That leaves the Jets who are very up and down but have a ton of talent and an elite QB when he is on.

Context matters. We could be having a very different discussion if you flipped schedules.

This is the only reason to not play Maye. He is young and is skill potential is impressive but his skill set needs time to fill out.
I suspect - based on reports from Perry et al - that Maye's development is such that he could indeed start now, Whether the goddam slowpokes in charge would choose even under the best of circumstances to do so is a real question. The problem is that we are in far from "the best of circumstances." In large part because of Wolf's incompetence, there really isn't an NFL offense there for Maye to start on. No o-line, no effective downfield threats, no discernible progress on the part of the OC in developing any sort of effective offensive identity - they can't even do the basics. Given the level of apparent competence on the coaching staff and the utter failure of the GM to provide a workable offensive roster, there is no way forward which makes sense. If job 1 is to develop Drake Maye, there simply aren't the resources on the team to accomplish that. You see it in Maye's facial expression: "What the Hell is this?," he seems to be thinking, suggesting he's every bit as intelligent as he has been thought to be. What the Hell is this, indeed.

Some rebuild, eh?

Get Elliot wolf out of here.
Get AVP out of here.
Get Brissett out of here.
Get Stephenson out of here.
If they lose another game like that I’m ready to get Mayo out of here, too.

The Krafts need to sack up, call Josh McDaniel, write the checks, and fix this train wreck.

We have had a tough schedule. We might well win a game or two in the next stretch. but I don't think that really will mean much other than that there may be other teams as lousy as ours or teams who take us so lightly - for good reason - that they don't play up to their abilities.

We are all wary of coming off as handwringing, alarmist sissies, so we don't want to say it, but this team - certainly on offense but increasingly on defense as well - is just plain lousy, maybe historically bad. I don't think it really matters who starts at qb at this point, and I think that the offense is so bad that starting would afford Maye no opportunity to learn by starting on an NFL offense, because we dont have one.

Heh. At least that would make for a more entertaining season - who doesn't enjoy a nice blood bath from time to time? - in a sort of macabre way. Maybe in the season's Grand Finale, they would blow up the damned Lighthouse. That'd be fun too.

Not convinced this team comes particularly close to beating Arizona on the road. Certainly doesn't drop 42 on them when we've only managed 52 in four games. I kinda see what you mean but the eye test says the Commanders are clearly just better than us, no matter the schedule.

I’ve been watching the Oats for 49 years and Brissett is the worst starting QB we’ve ever had.

EVER.

Dude is laughing all the way to the bank.
What's Ryan Mallet up to these days?

Oops. I forgot his demise.

I doubt that.

It's been so bad for 3 weeks now, they know if they roll him out there next week he's going to get booed relentlessly the whole game.
There is NOTHING a DC has to game plan for.. we are the WORST offense in the NFL even the Andy Dalton Panthers are more productive. We are sitting on so much cap room... I charge wolf to do something... j. Jones is getting routinely beat, there is no one beyond gonzo and peppers that QBs respect... we will be in a rock fight with Skylar Thompson next week or Huntley..

I'm not even going to mention the OL....

Krafts supposedly love him.

If Bill doesn’t get a job, and Josh would come back I’m all for it.

Guy can coach offense.

AVP certainly can not.

Was listening on ESPN and was saying how dabol is on the hot seat.. also Cleveland is paying AVPs salary this season.. I believe dabol would be excellent for Drake. I can't see AVP here beyond this season at this rate.

So you only like a winner

My first game was in 1972. Jim Plunkett was their QB and we totally sucked.
But I stuck with them because they were our team. There was no team picking. We were from Boston and the Patriots were OUR team
We made it to a SB in 1986 and 1997. But I went through many bad years.
When we finally won and became the best franchise ever. It made all the suffering and made being a champ that much more sweeter.

You have not even seen many lean years and your jumping ship.
There is a lot to say about loyalty. It builds character

Now I know you are only kidding and will be so happy you stayed a Pats fan when our next dynasty begins.
That was funny about the Dallas thing since they have nit one a SB in 27 years
Way before your 1st Pats game
Given that this owner, organization, and fanbase ran a six-time Super Bowl-winning coach out-of-town after just one single shot at drafting a QB (far and away the most important position in sports), the last thing I want to hear from anyone is about “loyalty.”

There was far more involved in Belichick's justifiable firing than his drafting of a qb and his subsequent failure to develop him. As for loyalty, that is a luxury a team this bad can ill afford.
