Question about Comp pick that was used on Brady

Do we know who the player or players that lead to us getting the comp pick at 199?

This guy seems to think it was Tom Tupa but there are incorrect facts in his article so I am trying to confirm if this is correct?

Based on the comp picks we got in the draft - a 4th, two 6ths (199/201) and a 7th... its most likely that the Brady pick actually came from the loss of Todd Collins signing with the rams

I think the salaries per player signing went (in descending order) Wohlabaugh (7 years, 26.25m) Collins (4 yrs/10m) , Wheeler (unknown), Tupa (4 yrs/6.1m), I don't know what Wheeler signed for, so maybe it was him? Wohlabaugh was most certainly the 4th round compensatory pick, followed by Collins (the first 6th rounder which was 199), then wheeler & tupa based on the contract info i found...

If anyone knows what Mark Wheelers Eagles contract terms were, please let me know...

Perfect thanks, I had never heard the Tupa angle so I was skeptical.

They lost Wolabaugh through the Browns expansion draft. I wasn't happy the Pats lost him.

I didn't like Todd Collins and Tupa leaving either. It took the Pats a long time to find a good punter like Tupa.

I did not watch the video, but I was always under the impression that it was Todd Collins, as @Pape mentioned above.

David Nugent (201) and Patrick Pass (239) were the other selections from comp picks.


If not for pick #199, that was actually not a particularly productive draft, thanks in part to Klemm's injuries.
The only players signed to a second contract were a sixth and seventh rounder.
Redmond did come up big in the 2001 playoffs though, and the first round 'trade' did work out well.

dude, only reason i knew was you made me curious... wohlabaugh was on the free agency list, so it begged the question, if not him, who?

and yeah I agree - was not happy when he left... did not like his replacement at all (Damien Woody)... was glad when 1. we signed compton and 2 we left him walk to the jete...

Compton really brought an edge with him and with him and Antoine Smith we were able to solidify our ground game.
