Do we know who the player or players that lead to us getting the comp pick at 199?

This guy seems to think it was Tom Tupa but there are incorrect facts in his article so I am trying to confirm if this is correct?

The story says Tupa Signing with the Jets prior to 99 lead to our comp pick 199 in 2000.

Should be in the Brady forum.

in 1999, the Pats lost Tom Tupa (jete), Mark Wheeler (iggles), Dave Wolabaugh (brownies) & Todd Collins (stl rams)... those are the guys we drew comp picks from

Based on the comp picks we got in the draft - a 4th, two 6ths (199/201) and a 7th... its most likely that the Brady pick actually came from the loss of Todd Collins signing with the rams

I think the salaries per player signing went (in descending order) Wohlabaugh (7 years, 26.25m) Collins (4 yrs/10m) , Wheeler (unknown), Tupa (4 yrs/6.1m), I don't know what Wheeler signed for, so maybe it was him? Wohlabaugh was most certainly the 4th round compensatory pick, followed by Collins (the first 6th rounder which was 199), then wheeler & tupa based on the contract info i found...

If anyone knows what Mark Wheelers Eagles contract terms were, please let me know...

Clown reply because putting the clown emoji does not do justice to just how clownish this clownish response is.
Should it be in the Brady forum or not? I'll hang up and listen.

Perfect thanks, I had never heard the Tupa angle so I was skeptical.

They lost Wolabaugh through the Browns expansion draft. I wasn't happy the Pats lost him.

I didn't like Todd Collins and Tupa leaving either. It took the Pats a long time to find a good punter like Tupa.

Memba that time we were down 28-3 ? That ended up being a lot funnier an hour later…

I did not watch the video, but I was always under the impression that it was Todd Collins, as @Pape mentioned above.

David Nugent (201) and Patrick Pass (239) were the other selections from comp picks.

If not for pick #199, that was actually not a particularly productive draft, thanks in part to Klemm's injuries.
The only players signed to a second contract were a sixth and seventh rounder.
Redmond did come up big in the 2001 playoffs though, and the first round 'trade' did work out well.

1.16 -- given to Jete as compensation for signing Belichick
2.46 -- OL Adrian Klemm; 26 games played (10 starts) in 4 seasons with Pats
3.76 -- RB J.R. Redmond; 33 games played (5 starts) in 3 seasons w/Pats; came up big in 2001 playoffs
4.107 - forfeited for selecting J'Juan Cherry in 1999 supplemental draft; he never played in the NFL
4.127 - comp pick [Dave Wohlabaugh], OT Greg Robinson-Randall; 35 games played (23 starts) in 3 seasons with Pats
5.141 - TE Dave Stachelski; never played for the Pats
5.161 - DT Jeff Marriott; never played in the NFL
6.187 - S Antwan Harris; 52 games (2 starts) in 4 seasons with Pats
6.199 - comp pick [Todd Collins], TB12; 285 games played (283 starts) in 20 seasons with Pats
6.201 - comp pick [Mark Wheeler], DE David Nugent; 15 games (1 start) in 2 seasons with Pats
7.212 - Traded to SF for a 2001 sixth
7.226 - LB Casey Tisdale; never played in the NFL
7.239 - comp pick [Tom Tupa], FB Patrick Pass; 78 games played (11 starts) in 7 seasons with Pats

Whatchu talking about Willis lol

Bill for a first and Brady at 199 most productive draft in NFL history lol

We lost OT Scott Rehberg to the Browns expansion draft... a swing tackle/guard, so it was no big loss... the Browns signed Wohlabaugh as a free agent... at the time, he became the highest paid center in the league...

But I was told it was horrible, the GM only hit on 11% of his picks.

I always thought it was Wohlabaugh. Just looked it up. Mandela effect for me.

dude, only reason i knew was you made me curious... wohlabaugh was on the free agency list, so it begged the question, if not him, who?

and yeah I agree - was not happy when he left... did not like his replacement at all (Damien Woody)... was glad when 1. we signed compton and 2 we left him walk to the jete...

Compton really brought an edge with him and with him and Antoine Smith we were able to solidify our ground game.
