Robinson and Wallace

I want them both to stay in and play, I want to see if they develop. We are not going to see that development when they are on the bench. This is my first disappointment with Mayo. Wallace should just have been developed all thru camp at the LT spot and not bounce around between left and right.

Now what I would like to see is bringing in Charles Leno as he is now healed and going on visits. DJ Humphries is another one but he is still rehabbing and is not ready to go on visits. I like the idea of developing Cole Strange as a Center when he comes back and keeping Sow at LG on his return. But to put a scrub in Love or whoever in there at the cost of Wallace's development- no way. This year is not about winning games but developing talent. The Jets have a very good D and a superior Dline. We had a pair of rookies with a two day window before the Thursday game.

I would prefer L Robinson on our Scout Team he's not ready for Sunday Afternoons.

We need to know what we have for the future.

ROBINSON
1) He is really getting abused. He needs to sit and learn the NFL game.
2) On the other hand, he is a fine run blocker. For now he should be our backup RG and our 6th OL in jumbo sets. I would much rather Jordan be starting at RG. Each week, it is Jordan that has been allowing the fewest pressures and sacks.

WALLACE
3) Well, he isn't a present or future LT, or even swing OT. He is a RT. I guess that it was useful to learn this. We did need to know for future planning.
4) Now, we need to see whether Wallace has a future as our starting RT or whether he will be a backup RT for his rookie contract.
5) We need to move Onwenu back to RG. We have 3 OT's (not counting Thomas) who can play RT when healthy (Lowe, Jacobs and Wallace).
Let's use one of them as the starting RT.

BOTTOM LINE
Let's play a solid IOL. If necessary, we should bring in more players from other Practice Squads or elevate our PS OT or trade for backup OT.
My hope is that Jacobs will be able to play LT when Lowe is injured. I recognize that we should try Thomas and Jones more during practces.
You nor I can say what Wallace or anyone else will become. LT or otherwise. Not when guys are rookies, on initial starts. Brady was on training wheels in year 2 with initial starts. DId that persist? Same thing. Reality is Robinson and Wallace supposedly have shown they have the physical skills. Robinson stepped up to win time on the starting unit, but does that mean he's a seasoned veteran and polished product in his first couple games? No. Wallace showed he was not ready yet at either tackle. He's in now only due to player losses. So sure it will be rough. And he's playing LT on top of that. Paul Parillo said it well at end of camp: "those two lineman so far look good but are struggling jumping to the NFL like most rookies do. He said if the pats can get them in by mid year and the team can establish they are part of the long term answer, that will be a big win for this year in terms of determining what personnell if still needed on the o-line. Both are playing early and having their growning pains. But we grade them out after a week or so based on a finished product veteran grading curve really?

Sow and Strange need to play as soon as possible.

Onwenwu is also better at guard than tackle.

If Lowe can get healthy I think you plug him back into LT. I don't think we really have any better option.

RT is a little trickier strange and Sow at guard with Onwenwu staying at RT might be the best option but Onwenwu is our best guard so it might make sense just to plug Wallace in at RT and put Onwenwu back where he's best.

So far it's only got worse so I have very little confidence in the players and coaching.
Your right. Bottom line is this line fix was never going to be a quick thing, even if they have a decent mix of bodies. It was going to take a big chunk of the year. Why? they never got set in camp on a starting 5 and injurys snuck in. They added 3 new guys and some rookies. PLus all 5 learning an entirely new west coast offense that is hard for many teams to master. O-lines take time as a unit. Many fans try and grade them game #1 on a finished product grading curve. Look for them to get it together by Nov. That's if the injury bug does not derail.

And he won't be get ready playing the scout team. These guys have to be developed. Peters had input on these guys, he wanted them, If he cant develop them it is on him, and maybe he should be the one not to be here next season. He did ok before last Thursday.

Agreed, the reason Brisset is here is to take a beating while the line develops. Harsh, but true. that is why he got 8 mill. I want the Pats to pick top 5 again next spring and I want Maye to sit for at least 6 more games. Let him play a game at thanksgiving, get the bye week and play the last 4 games. Wallace should have an exp LG on the side of him by then in Sow or Strange.

You cannot “develop” OLmen by playing them if they’re getting their QBs ****ING KILLED.

For all those WHINING about Suamataia not be drafted, the Chiefs just benched him...... Just food for thought.
