For a team that was projected to maybe win 3-4 games total with known "fatal flaw" issues at OL - add in the absolutely terrible ineptness that was shown the past two seasons where the conclusion of every game could be discerned in about the first ten minutes; this season so far, even with the loss today, has been football actually worth watching. Football where the Patriots have a solid chance to win.

These expectations of either immediate gratification or worse saviorship of a single individual are fascinating to watch. Two competitive games thus far, one win and one loss. Fundamental execution that far outweighs the mental and physical moronic play that highlighted the past two seasons are demonstrating positive, if small, progress.

Yet, still not good enough for most. "If only...." "They shoulda...." "Look at that super shiny thing over there, I'm so envious...." "All our players suck..."

1-1 in a season they were supposed to be lucky to even be within shouting distance of any win.

If you told me in July that we would start off 1-1,

I would have expected reactions to be largely fine,

But today we got such interesting hot takes as “the entire defense are JAGs including Gonzalez” and also “Drake Maye is no better than Daniel Jones” (when Maye hasn’t even played yet)

This place sure is interesting sometimes.
If by "interesting" you mean polulated with multiple aholes, then yes, it is an "interesting" place.

They fought hard. They showed up. They showed some grit and passion.

The QB didn't ***** and moan and actually tried to get the W.

Keion White once again made an oline look like Ragdolls.

This my friends is progress...

Defense still showed upper tier skill/talent.

Offense showed toughness and grit.

Game came down to busted coverage and a blocked FG.

Upward and onward, comrades. The fun is just starting.

LFG Pats.

I might be in the minority but I think Maye should start sooner than later, maybe even next week, if not, then against the niners !

I agree. The Pats have 10 days before the 49ers, so that is a good place for Maye to start. Maye is now comfortable running on the field.

I resemble that remark. Thanks for thinking of me

I generally agree with you, but I still want to start Maye. It’s not a need for gratification or worship - I know he will screw up sometimes - but most of the rest of the team has been pretty competent and it’s caused the glaring weakness at QB to become very evident.

The current starting QB is playing excessively conservative at his best moments while also still periodically making very stupid mistakes at his worst. If they are holding the kid out to keep him from making those mistakes and so he can learn from the vet, but the vet is playing like this, I struggle to grasp what is actually being learned.

Wouldn't that be the worst possible team to put him against. On the road?

Drake Maye is closer to the next Josh Allen.
MHJ has been left wide open by crap defense today, he’s probably going to be good but today is no sign of that
Nabors is better than MHJ and they are 0-2 because QB
What a terrible drop by Nabers in a clutch situation, though... (4th and 4 tied 18 at what would've been a catch at the WAS 11). Can't blame him too much since he basically carried the team.

Yeah it’s a tough assignment but it’s also a “mini bye” where they’re coming off a Thursday night game, so they have extra prep time to get him ready to be the starter. Extra practices, extra reps. It’s less about the opponent and more about getting Maye ready for the job itself.

Gibson deserves some love. What a run! Think he needs more carries and/or we really gotta start thinking about activating harris. Rham looked kinda winded to me at the end, not as much pop.Gibson obviously had to come off after the long run but imagine having a fresh Kevin Harris in that spot or anywhere in the mix. Rham was over 20 carries again

In all honesty im not sure what to make of the wr’s still. We’ll see what film review shows but it sounds like they were getting open again from some of the comments. If so while frustrating its pretty encouraging. For a long time there just hasn’t been anything available period for our qbs, now it sounds like we may be halfway there and maybe an offseason away from a nice offense.

Game was there for the taking. A play or 2 would have changed the result. Jacoby is one tough SOB.

Were these receivers getting open down field? Could not tell from the broadcast.
