I stand by everything I said in this thread Wolf and Mayo have a plan and it's to sit Maye for a time until they feel he's ready. I wasn't a fan of the notion at First but now I'm alright with it.

Just because the old mean guy is gone, doesn't mean we rubber stamp every move the new regime makes. Objectivity is judging every decision based on its merits. This was a bad signing at the outset. Relying on Lowe was a bad decision as well. Time reveals all...

I just took a quick look at the thread you definitely were vocal in not liking it but I didn't really find anyone that thought it was a good move. Mostly people just felt it was meh. More concerned over what it meant for Onwenwu than excited for Chucks.

Venecol seemed to be who you were arguing with. Mostly people just thought you were being over the top. Clearly you were spot on.

Oddly enough I didn't post a thing. Typically that means I probably wasn't thrilled and just didn't want to bad mouth anyone.

Well we know the old mean guy is a legend but it's also a reason he's no longer here. However your right. But let's remember this is still a rebuilding team with the 3rd overall pick. I'm also going to admit I too was wrong on the O line.. I should not say O line but more tackle spots.. also you have to guys injured in stranger and Sow. That's vastly impacted the depth. Lowe we are stuck with him unless a more capable LT falls from the sky.

Nonsense... there's never a good time to sign bad players. There's no justification for entering this season relying on Okorafor and Lowe to start. That's just excuse making.

March 7th was just the start of the conversation, as free agency rolled on and they didn't sign anyone else I got more and more annoyed. Fine, no problem, Wolf will fix it in the draft... right? Wrong, he was taking a WR in the second round no matter what, it didn't matter which one... he had tunnel vision.

Throughout this entire process more and more people said it was smart to take a long view, that these were smart signings.

They weren't... they were dumb signings. Signings a bad GM would make. They signed these guys to start, not be backups... that's dumb.

I don't understand the take of "well not everyone can be a starter," I get that... but you still don't sign bad players. You sign as many good/great players as you can and let competition sort it out.

I already beat this horse to death, there were many better similarly priced free agents available and guys they should have drafted in the 2nd round.

Enough with the “it’s a long term rebuild” talk, there’s no excuse for signing bad players.

I'm thinking that the already slim possibility of Bakhtiari signing with the Patriots is even more remote with this news, since he is going to get paid at least $2 million without having to put his body on the line.

Sign him to a 1 year $12M deal with a $2M signing bonus. The bonus equalizes the injury protection benefit. Otherwise he has a chance at $10M in salary. It is not guaranteed since week 1 has passed. Each week he is good enough to keep he would get $625K. If he’s not worth it he gets cut and they save the remainder of the deal. A chance to prove he’s not washed, which I believe is what he wants.

The Giants have been “rebuilding” since Tom Coughlin left. It took the Eagles 48 years until they rebuilt enough to win another ring. You don’t sign bad players… period.

You sign good/great athletes and do your best to develop them. It might not work, they might suck, but it won’t be because they simply didn’t have the athleticism to succeed. Chad Jackson and N’Keal sucked, they were great athletes at least. A bad athlete has zero chance.
