Yeah, if he was cleared as fully healthy and held himself out then that does complicate things. But I have a hard time predicting that situation. If over $100M is on the line, he's probably going to want to suit up, but the optics would be very bad for Miami/the NFL.
I also have to think it wouldn't be definitive if the doctors said he couldn't play: "You aren't ready to play now." I could see that stretching on for months, where the doctors won't allow him to go in but also won't say that he's never able to play again.

In that scenario, he still gets all the guaranteed money, since it is guaranteed for injury (i.e., "If you can't play because of injuries we'll still pay you").

Weird they scheduled the Pats to play the Bills twice in December again. I don't think they'll ask Maye to throw only 3 passes if the wind shows up again.

Mac would be an upgrade so it's not a bad idea

Well, it's also not like the Dolphins have a better answer at QB. I'd think they'd hold out hope that he returns this season. If it stretches into the offseason, then they might realize they have to bite the bullet and start again at QB.

They're the same player
Except Jones has no mental toughness whatsoever
And isn’t as mobile, has a weaker arm, and doesn’t understand how to execute an NFL passing game. Otherwise, they are the same.

When you take a hit so bad it looks like you’re immediately throwing up gang signs on your back, it’s time to retire.

People were already calling for his retirement on the last concussion. It’s getting ridiculous at this point.
It time. Tua is a young man and today there is so much evidence and information on CTE. He's got generational wealth.. he needs to think about his long term health. Being there for his family and children. He doesn't want to be 50 with early dementia. Walking away may save his life.

You know something... if.. just if... Jacoby playes well enough to earn a gino Smith type contract. The Dolphins could be destination for him. .. I personally think we won't see Tua this season. If we do it's remarkable. So Miami will tread water with the back up and sign to a veteran.

Least he can hit a 5 yard slant

The Dolphins should strongly consider making a trade now and not wait before it's too far into the season.

A Mac Jones trade would be very intriguing though because McDaniel was on the staff that initially wanted him and it would settle the argument whether coaching and talent was holding him back or not.
