The NFL have a way of playing out a way we never thought. Imagine us being in the thick of it Miami will definitely take a few steps back now unfortunately.

Really hard to see Tua continue to go through this. He's a young man and he needs to think about his long term health. He's got generational wealth now. He needs to do some hard thinking.

On the game. Mami seems like frauds.. on defense they couldn't stop 1 guy a RB, on offense I don't know where Tua was going with the ball. Buffalo literally had no one of all pro or even pro bowl caliber on defense and they still couldn't take advantage. Now Tua is out and I don't see Miami as a contender.
tua ... in as much as hes a dolphin, i hate to see injuries, especially avoidable ones... there are some helmets in the league that offer better protection than others, like the ones for linemen... realistically, he needs to wear one of those plus the guardian cap if he wants to continue playing...

based on his injury history, its evident hes susceptible to concussions... needs to do everything he can to mitigate that issue... at the very least he should have been wearing the GC... I don't care how silly it looks... better that than scrambled eggs between your ears...

I think star is a bit much, but this is the exact scenario I was thinking of when I thought his best destination this offseason was Miami. Get into a QB friendly system, with tons of YAC weapons, behind another Alabama alumni who has a history of injuries. You get in for a couple games, put up decent numbers because you throw a slant to Tyreek Hill and he takes it 60 yards for a TD, then you hit the market next year looking for a place that will pay you to compete for the starting role. It would have been a good potential rehab spot for him.

On Tua, hope the kid is alright. Forget football, I want him to remember his kids names in ten years.
But Mac throws helium balls and struggles throwing outside the numbers has he brushed that up??

Agree. However the damage is already done. You just feel for the guy. I can bet although he will of course want to play football as he's just 25 years old. He will really need to think about his future.. players are stepping away from the game younger now. With the NFL likely to add an 18th game.. the probability for more injuries are imminent.

How on the AFC east I think if we can stay in games and maybe steal a game during the season we aren't supposed to we could be in position to maybe make a playoff berth. I know probably not. But good to dream LOL..

I just said the same thing brother. Miami have a explosive offense. The bills had practice squad players on defense basically and they couldn't take advantage. This is why I think we can take Buffalo defenders for bull rides with our running game while Allen sits on the sidelines.

Hypothetically, if Tua isn’t cleared to play again then the Dolphins owe him $124M in remaining full and injury-only guarantees over the next three seasons. That’s on top of the $42M signing bonus they just paid him, 80% of which still needs to hit the cap. I’m not sure how in the world they’d navigate that.
If he files retirement paperwork next year, all of his current and future guaranteed salaries, and all of the remaining years of his signing and option bonuses, will accelerate into 2025’s cap. That instantly bites an extra $100M or more out of their salary cap, in a year where they’re already projected to be over the cap. They’d need to have a fire sale cutting, trading and restructuring players just to become cap compliant to fit that dumped deal in. But I don’t even know if it’s mathematically possible for them to make $100M in cap space even if they cut everyone due to dead money. There might be a narrow pathway if they cut most players with a June 1st designation, and restructure/extend some others, but even then it would probably barely be scraping by and the roster would end up being almost entirely veteran minimum and rookie contracts.

I wonder if this one might be the thing that does it for Tua himself. If he sees that video, and cares about his mental function the rest of his life, he might need to just hang 'em up now. I'd feel horrible for him, but you can't ask a QB to play in bubble wrap and play well.

Either way, this Dolphins team does not look very good. The Jets do not look very good either. Both look 1 dumb locker room moment away from internal implosion. The Bills are not as talented, but solid, and seem destined to lead the division again.
Without over-reacting to ONE win against a very overrated bad Bengals team, the Pats could fight to stay in the mix for #2 in the division.

It is week two. They looked great last night, but it is a long season. Every year over the first few weeks, there are teams that people are touting as Super Bowl contenders who either miss the playoffs or barely make it in and have an early exit. And there are teams people leave for dead who go deep into the playoffs.

Now more than ever. Teams come into the season barely in shape and organized. Because of practicing rules many teams take a few weeks to be clicking on all cylinders. The teams that come into the season ready tend to look far better than they are early. Not saying that is Buffalo, but it could be.
True

Its easy to overreact and crown the champs and the dogs this early in the game. Nevertheless, Josh Allen looked very polished last night. I saw a QB who makes those around him better players. The Buffalo defense looked good too. The game really went sideways because of Tua which is of no surprise to me. The INTs were all on him trying to force the ball.

My take is that Buffalo will contend for the AFCE, when I originally thought that they would take a year off.

If the Pats develop Drake well and can stay within 2 games of the Bills, they can sweep them to end the season (they play twice in the final 3 weeks) and take the division away. Just a thought

When you have the best QB, you rarely have "off" seasons but the Bills as a team are not as good as they've been the last couple years. Allen makes up for that, however so the drop off is limited. Like the Brady years here.
Dolphins have gotten worse also. Jets got better at QB, but the roster is worse overall.
This game might be more an indictment of the Dolphins than a coronation of the Bills.
Yup

Put Allen on the Pats and they are a playoff team. I believe that you'd really see what guys like Thornton and Polk can do.

Mac does not seem like a good match for Tyreek from a personality perspective. Couple that with some poor throws and things could sour quickly if Miami goes that route.

Jesus. I hate the Dolphins as much as anyone but that’s just fandom.

My reaction immediately after seeing it was “oh no”.

Someone has to do the right thing for the kid and ask the question…should he really keep playing football at all?

That’s TWO severe concussions…

Dudes have had horrific CTE later in life with far less traumatic blows.

And who knows how many undiagnosed ones he’s had going back to H.S. ?

Hate to see it.
THREE serious concussions, I believe.

Josh Allen has shown plenty of times during his career that he can go from elite QB to a turnover machine for many games.

The Dolphins haven't looked good yet this year. They were awful in the first half last week and probably would have lost to the Jags if Etienne didn't fumble the football at the Miami 2 yard line.

With Allen, the Bills only season without at least 10 wins and the playoffs was his rookie season.

Just a thought but if they are destined for that bad a cap situation maybe they should start their fire sale now?

Per Spotrac, the critical issue is whether he gets cleared by doctors. If they do not allow him to return, then he is entitled to collect that money.

If they clear him and he "chooses" to retire, Miami is not obliged to pay.

Both sides may negotiate a settlement in the "middle" somewhere (e.g., he gets all his 2025 money but gives up anything beyond that, or he gets 55% of the remaining money, etc.).
