He was also sacked three times, so I'd take the "analytics" with a grain of salt.
Yeah something a little strange about this stat

I find the lack of pressure somewhat concerning.

That spray chart plus modest pressure must mean we did a great job in coverage and/or confusing the QB. He was forced to throw it short pretty much every time.

You can bring more guys or you can drop them back - we did the latter. But we still got at least some pressure (White).

It's predominately the same coaches and players as last year, there is a lot of continuity on defense.

If they weren't good it would have been more surprising, they were very good last year... all that more impressive considering they were carrying the 32nd ranked offense on their backs.

The secondary was absolutely amazing.

I've discovered "analytics" is more often than not a bunch of math nerds who know little to nothing about football making up stats to fit their predetermined bias.

Football isn't hard; sack, sack percentage, QB hits, time to throw... that's all you need to determine pressure.

I do have to say that my WR Beankies from a few years ago, Iosivas and CJones were fairly ineffective. I guess we'll see if they really suck or if the Pats' D is really that good. I'm for the latter just to support my barely hanging on a thread ego. My others from that same year, TPalmer and TTucker, were meh. Even CWatson from 2 years ago was meh... even though he had a TD.

Call me crazy, but I have been thinking about this for a few years - with teams transitioning more and more towards high flying passing attacks and stocking their defensive rosters with more corners and lighter DLs/more "tweener" LBs, it seems like there's been a prime opportunity to really take advantage of that trend with a punishing running game. Teams, on average, are just not built to stop the run these days - and even if they can do it decently, they don't have much depth in that regard and you will wear them down after a little while. Even the Patriots' defense itself is probably susceptible to this problem.
I would think somebody would’ve done it then. If you look at the top 15 passing offfenses by yards per attempt or by total yards or by many measures, they almost always make the playoffs.

You can take the bottom 15 rushing offenses and half of them make the playoffs

There’s just no correlation to being a good running team and making the playoffs.

There’s a huge correlation between a good passing offense and making the playoffs

Of course, having a good rushing offense, does not preclude you from having a good passing offense but teams with both do not do better than the team that has the better passing offense.
All the analytics come back and say passing offense is what wins. Rushing offense is rather irrelevant in terms of making playoffs.

I have no idea how this all relates to the patriots. It’s a lot different when you have a journeyman quarterback who’s never averaged 200 yards a game in his life versus a potential all-pro quarterback.
Nobody’s taking the ball out of the best quarterbacks hands to hand it to a running back when the games matter

Jonas Gray says "Hi!"

OK, I'm just joking, but there's a serious point. At its best, under McDaniels, the Patriots offense was highly flexible from week to week and within games. Once the opponents reacted, they came up with something else.

Unless AvP has more tricks up his sleeve, other teams will figure the Pats out. But all the signs yesterday were that he knows what he's doing, so I'm sure he has his plans for that.

Don’t forget strange if he comes back. Is leverett still the backup center? Otherwise id say hes pretty expendable here, though he had trouble at c anyways. Someone mentioned they could try strange at backup c . Could they try him at LT too? Guard could be in pretty nice shape once sow is back even with onwenu considered rt , but my preference is obviously to be able to play him at rg
Leverett is still our backup center. Apparently, Jordan couldn't beat him out for that role. My hope is that we will replace Leverett with a real center sometime soon, with Hudson from the Practice Squad or a minor trade.

If Lowe can stay healthy, they will probably try him a RT where he played better in TC before benching or cutting him.

I think we will probably saw the following line against SEA:

Lowe - Jordan - Andrews - Onwenu - Okorafor
So, you would bench Robinson so the Okorafor can start. For me, that is a non-starter. I would much rather just cut Okorafor.

Our best lineup for now is
Lowe, Sow/Strange, Andrews, Robinson, Onwenu, (Wallace as the #6 OL when needed)

We certainly hope that someone in addition to Lowe will soon be better than Okorafor at LT.

Also am I the only one concerned that Baker and Mayo are going to clash leading to a trade or release?
so?

Baker can whine all he wants. He currently is #6 (soon to be 7th) on the depth chart on a running team that only will throw to four WR's plus TE's and RB's. Baker is unlikely to be active this year, unless he shows that he is better than the 6 ahead of him and is much more mature.

Amazing to think how good the Pats' secondary was last year with their top 3-4 CBs out. I do have to wonder what the definition of "Time pressured per dropback" means. If they have 4 seconds and still can't find anyone to throw to and end up scrambling, is that really a pressure, or what I'd like to call a "Coverage Pressure" (similar to coverage sack)?

Worked for Tenn with Henry for a few years.

Keion White's sacking him 2.5 times did seem relatively pressure free. Like a light breeze while Burrow was skipping in the wind singing "La Di Da that's the name of this song." I think they hugged at the end. Cathartic.
