Polk instead Kingsley Suamataia?

It was as if the Kraft were telling Wolf that we HAVE to take a WR, any WR in round two.
Yeah, that's not been a massive fan outcry at all to do just that for the past five years + - including by you yourself. Yet now suddenly its not all about the "weaponz" cuz 1) they're not the right ones or 2) there is finally realization that its a team game and if there's no time to throw weapons are rendered immaterial.

I bet if I wait a little while a future post will once again shift back to "the patriots have to take a WR in the first round of the next draft" when none of the current crop go over a 1000 yards or have 7+ TDs this year (which they won't).

I think that's what he was saying too. You don't have to have huge expectations but calling his play trash before he's even played one snap here is pretty harsh.
Okorafor is a seven year vet... do we need more time?

Lowe hasn't even shown glimpses of competency. With young players, you will usually see hints of potential, flashes... there have been none.

God, I feel like I've been transported back to the early 90's with fans telling me Scott Secules has loads of potential at QB and a bright future. We're not just doormats again, but we've accepted it.

The didn’t call their play trash, he called them trash.

I was calling their level of play trash, not them as people... give me a break with the faux indignation.
Go re-read your post. You called them trash, not their play. Language matters.

Is your point that a 7-year veteran should be able to learn and be effective at a new position is less that a TC and pre-season?

I don't think a game or 2 more with his new teammates and coaches before you absolutely give up on him and throw him out would seem like a reasonable thing to do.

I've already discussed this ad nauseam. I'll provide the names, some nitwit will say these options weren't very good, I'll provide their resumes... and the end result will be "because I said so" as a final retort.

Okorafor sucked in Pittsburgh, Lowe has sucked his entire career... anything would be better. Any attempt to improve that didn't involve signing and relying on bad players.

The bottom line is we have a bunch of new regime apologists now who will rubber stamp any horrible move they make because they're not the old mean guy... and that's enough.
Bruh.

He's been in the league for SIX YEARS.

That would seem to contradict the idea he's trash.

I said that I wouldn't expect anyone to have high expectations. I just think calling him trash would indicate you want to throw him out and I think we all should give someone a game or 2 before going that far.

It’a probably about time to stop letting the president of the Zuri Henry fan club stop telling us which offensive linemen are good and bad.

Oh give me a break, that was the team that led the entire NFL in sacks last year... they weren't playing the Giants.
Give me a break. He looked okay - nothing special, A sack and a hold/game isn't great, ya know?

And note that in my next post, I was quite willing to growl about Harry over AJ Brown, and Cole Strange AND Thornton over Nakobe Dean.

The Pats missed way too much for a few years there. That said, I'm of the mind that QB/weapons is today's NFL. So I'll give Polk, who I really liked at Washington, a few games before I start complaining.

I agree, by design. Although I think what the two designs we're imagining are vastly different. When they're overpaying for fringe NFL players so they can hit 90% of the cap floor in 2026, we can revisit this.

Teams basically had a free pass this year with their cap. There is no expectation that the cap will jump in '25 and '26 the way it did in '24. Which means there should be better options at positions of need, via FA and trade.

For instance, if something like the Aiyuk situation repeats next year, the team holding the player will be way less likely to have the money to keep him.

OK, I concede defeat on this one; Suamataia looked pretty poor in the highlights. Geez, you guy, you are taking all the fun out of second guessing the Patriots draft....however I am optimistic that there plenty of opportunities to second guess as the season progresses.

However, I still think that Baker will turn into a legit NFL WR and the Polk will be our reliable 3-down receiver (I suspect we will be seeing a lot of 3'd and 7's). Polk would have been a fine third or fourth round selection. Last years draft was excellent, but the obvious OL holes have not been addressed.

Maye instead of Alt, would be a better poll.
Or, to get into the weeds, Giovanni Manu (taken 126 by Detroit) instead of mercurial, inconsistent Javon Baker (taken 110 by the WR-desperate Patriots).

A LT with intriguing physical tools who is raw versus a prima dona whose play can’t match his mouth.
