Sidy sore... more like it
I wonder what our Starting OL will look like??

Okorafor - Leverett - Andrews - Robinson - Onwenu

Okorafor - Robinson - Andrews - Onwenu - Wallace

2024
So, Leverett is our 2024 LG? I missed the memo where Sow was demoted.

2025
I believe that our starting OT's last year were Brown and Sow.

CONCLUSION
I agree that this year's starting OL isn't as good as last year's, and certainly not as good if you swap Sow and Onwenu.
Brown, Strange, Andrews, Onwenu, Sow

Theoretically, we could have a much, much better OL this year if we re-signed Brown and got him and motivated him.
I don't get the love for Brown. Dude took plays off. I am of the opinion he's addition by subtraction. I know I am gonna get pilloried for it, but I'll die on this hill. All set with his unprofessional BS.

I agree, BUT even taking plays off Brown is still better than Okorafor or Lowe. How many sacks around the left side in 2024 will it take before .............

We swapped out Brown for Okorafor, so OL looks worse on paper. However, Okorafor is way less injury prone, so that should hopefully mean they will have more time to gel and work as a unit. I would say Wallace replaced McDermott. Hopefully he gives us better production there. Robinson is already looking better than Mafi ever did, so that will be an upgrade. Hopefully Lowe & Sow also play better with much better coaching.

Okorafor < Brown
Robinson > Mafi
Wallace <?> McDermott
Okafor won't play LT beyond the first game, if that.

I dunno. I watched him take off so many plays last year. All set. I'm willing to try Lowe the Turnstile. Can't be worse.

Sow will not start at LG this year is my understanding, Leverett will start at LG. I could be wrong.

As injuries happen and heal, we can update the comparison. I believe Sow started at RG last year. Comparing apples to oranges is silly.

I never said Sow was demoted. I said he was injured. Is Sow practicing again?
SOW
I thought that you were comparing our 2024 OL with the 2023 OL. I get it. You excluded Sow because he is injured.

I agree that an injured Sow won't start Game 1.

Are you saying that you believe that Leverett is ahead of Sow on the LG depth chart, and will continue to start when Sow is healthy?

SOW 2023
I stand corrected. Sow did NOT start at RT.

Sow did play every pre-season snap at RT and was expected to be the Game One starter at RT. Onwenu was injured and was not available to pay RG, so Sow started at RG, and unless injured, never game up the spot.

EVALUATION OF SOW
Sow had a fine 2023 season and was considered among the very best of the rookie OL's. I believe that he is considered a starter now, and has shown the flexibility to be able to start at LG, RG and RT. I believe that he also played LT in college, but never in the NFL.

Tarred and feathered.

If Sow is expected back in a game or two, I would expect that Leverett would start. I think that we would all like to see Robinson be established and developed at one position.

However, if Sow is out for awhile, I would be tempted to let Wallace start a few games at RT, even though he may be far from "ready".

So go sign him. I think 100% of the turnstile is still better than 50% Brown. I was happy to see him not get signed.

I get the line sucks. I think it's not going to get better with Brown because his effort is so mixed. Even if The Turnstile sucks, hopefully they can scheme up around his weaknesses at some point. He'll be consistent, unlike the lazy Brown.

No Sow is ahead. When he starts is the 2024 Sow better than the 2023 Strange? Maybe but not a lot.

Sow is not a tackle, but is a good guard. How good Sow will be with a 2nd year jump is still to be seen. Leverett will be gone, but what will happen when Strange returns?

Watch the turnstile for awhile. You might change your mind.
My hope is what I added above, they figure out what he can and can't do and scheme accordingly. I'm not making excuses, hence the nickname. I am just looking for him to stay consistent and listen to coaches. All the ability in the world doesn't mean jack if the player is taking pays off.

Depends on how many plays they take off. It can be argued that Lowe is absent all the time. Sounds like "taking plays off" is a pet peeve of yours? The good thing about talented guys that take plays off is that they are great late in the season when the playoffs motivate them.

You hate Randy Moss too I take it? He took plays off commonly in the regular season.

When Burrow can sleep wake up and make a sandwich back there on Sunday Afternoon. Don't worry about me calling you out Steve.

No, Randy was there when it counted, but.... Randy didn't win a ring either. Unfortunately, starting OL guys can't take plays off. I really think you can scheme around flaws, and that's what made Dante Scarnecchia so great. But the coach has gotta know what the player is gonna bring.

I really hated Brown last year. More than once I was yelling at the TV. I am hoping that they'll get proper coaching and the OL coach won't go MIA.

I am not worried about that, either The Bengals OL has not been historically great per se.

Jacoby and Van Pelt will have to become great at short passes, screen passes and effective at play action... the edges of this offensive line will suck.

Get the ball out fast and feed Demario because you'll have no time to throw. Thornton is getting screwed in this scenario yet again.

The Fastest guy on the Team and we are going to play a QB who can't get him the ball.
