OK, we were the worst last year. IMO, there is lots and lots of improvement.
==================================
We now have Brissette/Maye throwing to Polk, Osborn, Baker, Hooper and Gibson [plus returning Douglas, Thornton, Boutte, and part-year Bourne] instead of

Jones/Zappe passing to Parker, Schuster, Reagor, Elliot and Gisecki [Douglas, Thornton, Boutte and part-year Bourne]
==================================
Sure, it's wait and say and lots of question marks. However, I much, much prefer this year's group to last year's.
================================
I agree that the blockers are no better, basically

Lowe/Okorafor, Strange/Sow, Andrews, Robinson/Sow, Onwenu instead of
Lowe/McDermott, Strange/Mafi, Andrews, Sow, Onwenu

Basically, we replaced Mafi with Robinson, who is a starter at least until Strange is back, and
we replaced McDermott with Okorafor. We hoped for more, but didn't get it.

Aside from the QB, Rham is the biggest loser in all of this. As one of the broadcasts stated during the preseason, he’s going to constantly face 8-9 man boxes where defenses dare the Pats to throw.

We swapped out Brown for Okorafor, so OL looks worse on paper. However, Okorafor is way less injury prone, so that should hopefully mean they will have more time to gel and work as a unit. I would say Wallace replaced McDermott. Hopefully he gives us better production there. Robinson is already looking better than Mafi ever did, so that will be an upgrade. Hopefully Lowe & Sow also play better with much better coaching.

Okorafor < Brown
Robinson > Mafi
Wallace <?> McDermott

Gibson is going to play a more role in this offense. AVP likes to establish play action so the run won't be ignored.

Screens will be quick hitters.

I hope we can take advantage of that. We had an abysmal QB last year. I think it was legitimately the worst QB play I've seen. Mac couldn't give us _anything_ a QB needs. The Patriots are a workforce and I think Brissett reflects that more. If the line can hold, I think we'll see markedly better offensive production. All it takes is some consistency and then the defenses have to adapt.

I haven't been able to really examine the preseason/camp notes as much as I have in the past. How has Gibson looked? How does it look like he'll be used? He seems versatile, can catch, but also fumblea. I would hope the Patriots could fix that issue.

I think we have to compare apples to apples. Comparing the 2023 ending OL to the 2024 starting OL is apples to oranges. We need to compare the two starting OLs. The 2024 has injuries and will continue to have injuries and who knows what group will be standing at the end of the year. I can not remember who we started with in 2023, but this is close?

LT - Lowe/Okorafor < Brown
LG - Leverett < Strange
C - Andrews = Andrews
RG - Robinson < Sow
RT - Wallace/Okorafor > Lowe

Did you watch preseason game #2 and #3 against the opponents backups? Brissett was challenging Mac for the worse preseason play ever.

Gibson has been fine from what I've seen.. he's the pass catching back, he's also a former WR who can line up out wide. Can also run between the tackles. Running the ball takes commitment and discipline from an O line. If we can establish that it makes the offense much better.

So, Leverett is our 2024 LG? I missed the memo where Sow was demoted.

2025
I believe that our starting OT's last year were Brown and Sow.

CONCLUSION
I agree that this year's starting OL isn't as good as last year's, and certainly not as good if you swap Sow and Onwenu.
Brown, Strange, Andrews, Onwenu, Sow

Theoretically, we could have a much, much better OL this year if we re-signed Brown and got him and motivated him.

Agreed. Rham is the early down back. Gibson is the screen quick hitter back.. don't forget hasty as well.

Did Sow START at RG last year?
Sow will not start at LG this year is my understanding, Leverett will start at LG. I could be wrong.

As injuries happen and heal, we can update the comparison. I believe Sow started at RG last year. Comparing apples to oranges is silly.

I never said Sow was demoted. I said he was injured. Is Sow practicing again?
