So, how you feeling about our draft class?

He may be inactive for most of the year. That's fine. As with many others, we have time to let him learn on the job.
That's a possibility, but I don't know what Thornton is going to do.. say if Thornton does little does mayo give baker his snaps?

Drafting well is drafting well.

If your defense is old and slow as in 2020, you need to revamp the entire D.

They did.

It's called a rebuild.

Mac Jones was so bad he set the offense back but with marginally competent QBing the offense is much better than people believe.
Whenever a QB turns the ball over your percentages of winning greatly decrease.

It was a expectation by mid-season the QB position was a liability more than a strength. I think we had a stretch last season where the QB turned the ball over in like 4 or 5 consecutive games? Is that right?

That is the guy I am most worried about I don't see how a QB like Brissett helps Tyquan. Brissett is not a QB who make s difficult throws thus his record get ready for Field goals galore.

I think the First Five is going contribute don't sleep on Javon Baker he'll be alright. This class will be better than any prior BB Draft as a whole.

I get that Bill's drafting was panned in the second half of the run, but from 2001 to 2014ish its pretty freakin' good. Nearly every draft had solid contributors, with red jacket guys and a couple HoFers sprinkled in here and there. I think he cared more about coachability later on, but for the majority of the run, they are pretty good.

Maye should Start - Polk is going to contribute - Wallace should start just looking at the alternatives @ Tackle - Robinson looks like a Starter at RG. I really like Javon Baker personally as a player though he maybe a you know the way he runs his mouth off. That's Four and a half Players who could legitimately contribute. If that happens I would call it a very successful First Draft.

I agree. I want Drake in.. but we know it's not happening right now... but yes TT is going to suffer becuase of it. Hopefully we can even make FGs this season.

Chad Wide-Left or Wide-Right is gone smart move by Mayo...many here wanted him back over Joey Syle I don't know why.

Joey slye is definitely a better pick. The guys money! Another 4th round pick down the drain.. Chad WHY-land.. I can understand understand with briss why your patriots spirits aren't up.

Did anybody pick up Chad Wide-Left??

Another note. I love seeing mayo take charge.. tells me that the honey moon is over.. it's week 1 time for business.. he's asserting himself... that is great for maye daye... when Brissett start throwing INTS.. I can see maye daye warming up on the sidelines.

Only tight windows Brissett can get to is at the Grey hound bus station.

Any BB draft? That's a bold statement.
It's going to be pretty hard to top 2010 (McCourty, Gronk), 2012 (Hightower, Chandler Jones), 2002 (Branch, Givens, Graham, Green), or 2001 (Seymour, Light). I hope I'm wrong but I'm doubting 2024 has any Pro Bowlers let alone HOFers.

Not to mention those drafts found solid contributors on loaded teams. We're having a hard time finding contributors on a rather awful team.

They didn't draft badly.

Look around the NFL and you'll see the average is 3 starters per draft.

2020: Onwenu, Dugger, Anfernee + Uche who is just a backup (this is the draft where they lost a 2nd for Mo Sanu)
2021: Barmore, Rhamondre (a failed draft because of a failed QB in Mac, which happens to a lot of teams...)
2022: Marcus Jones (Cole Strange is injured, Jack Jones was a headcase, Tyquan it's now or never). A failed draft for now, but not if Tyquan and Strange pan out.
2023: Gonzalez, Keion White, Sidy Sow, Demario Douglas (Jake Andrews and Marte Mapu could still pan out and become future starters). This draft was a success.

3 average drafts and 1 above average.
2022: With lots and lots of competition in camp and the preseason, Thornton will start this year. That's not a failure.
2022: Strange was/is an OK starter
2023: Baringer is a starter and an important asset.
2023: still a possibility

Are they? See @upstater1 post above.

Which post? The ones I went back to read mostly agree with me. I also posted my analysis of 2024 draft so far on the second page. I only see Layden Robinson and Polk contributing any time soon. Wallace has the best chance to contribute but somehow isn't able to beat out Lowe or Okorafor. Robinson has a chance to start if Sow or Onwenu get injured or Onwenu is moved to RT (unlikely in the new offensive system).

Ah, I was referring to the 2024 draft specifically. I agree with @upstater1 that we actually started drafting decently since 2020. There was just a lot of ground that needed to be made up with all the pro bowlers/patriots lifers we lost in short time. I even made a ridiculous mnemonic to remember all the players we lost since 2020, other than Brady.

I think this year's draft is far too early to call success or failure, but it looks like it's going to have multiple contributors, so it will probably be average to good, unless Maye is a Dude. Then it's exceptional.
