2024 Draft Picks
  • 1 (3): QB Drake Maye, North Carolina.
  • 2 (37): WR Ja'Lynn Polk, Washington.
  • 3 (68): OT Caedan Wallace, Penn State.
  • 4 (103): G Layden Robinson, Texas A&M.
  • 4 (110): WR Javon Baker, UCF.
  • 6 (180): CB Marcellas Dial, South Carolina.
  • 6 (193): QB Joe Milton III, Tennessee.
  • 7 (231): TE Jaheim Bell, Florida State.
Every one of them should make the team (Dial is probably 60-40) Drake Maye is threatening to be an elite QB. Polk, Wallace and Robinson are threatening to be legitimate NFL starters. Baker has shown some big play talent but also looks a little overwhelmed at times. Bell could be a steal and who knows with Milton. Did we fill all our holes? Not even close but this is looking like a high end class. I'm giving Elliot an A-

With the disclaimer that we don't really know anything without seeing any regular season games, my initial impressions so far:

Maye - Positive

Polk - Mostly Positive

Wallace - Neutral (it would be better if we had established starters and he could just focus on being a backup for year one)

Robinson - Neutral (same as Wallace)

Baker - Negative. I knew he'd be a work in progress but man does he look raw.

Dial - Neutral.

Milton - Neutral. He's exactly who I thought he'd be in his first NFL action: A guy who can effortlessly flick his wrist and throw the ball 80 yards to the other team.

Bell - Mostly Positive (as much as you can be with a 7th round pick).

Impossible to say as they haven't had any playing time in real games to make an accurate assessment.

Now, if you want to evaluate the previous two draft classes, that would be doable.

I think the First Five is going contribute don't sleep on Javon Baker he'll be alright. This class will be better than any prior BB Draft as a whole.

I love the upside thru out
they all need a ton of coaching, but the Pats made sure they have plenty of that.
forget about the record and play the young guys

I feel pretty good. You have to be happy about maye and polk to this point. The rest still needs development and tbd, robinson and wallace would be most important of that group i hope at least one can become a reliable starter for us. I still have hopes for Baker becoming an impact player too but he’ll take time.

The only gripe ive had was not being more aggressive at 68 and trading up to 63 for sumaitaia or a few spots higher if we liked one if the other tackles more in that run. They seem much better prospects than wallace and might have cost a 6th rounder for the move up? Hope to be proven wrong and wallace turns out fine but it seemed like the smart move to get in the center of that tackle run even if you needed to overpay slightly.

Any BB draft? That's a bold statement.
Alright maybe I was too bold I'm talking about his Drafts during the later Brady Years... you're a stickler arc.

If you get a true franchise QB and every other draft pick is terrible, it's still a wildly successful draft.

When you add Polk who looks like a starting caliber NFL receiver, and at least one starting offensive lineman, it is trending toward slam dunk.

Agreed with that, especially considering what was offered for the #3 pick and the amount of people who thought we should trade down or draft wr /ot. The magnitude of that decision to stay put and invest in maye would definitely get the draft a passing grade at worst regardless of what else happens.

Conversely if he fails and the rest of this draft / next couple drafts are so so we are probably looking at a new regime in a couple years.

I'm hoping they all succeed, even the one(s) I think were a mistake to draft. [Though, TBF, that would require the latter group be traded rather than released in the future.]

Revisit at end of season.

At least Baker has shut his mouth...not ten better receivers than me on the planet....my ass! ****ing dumbass.

Maye looks good hoping he lives up to his promise.

Polk looks solid. Given how many 2nd round (and lower) have turned in some big rookie years, I have to say I was hoping for that. But haven't seen anything that leads me to believe that will be the case. And to be fair some things that may prevent that are out of his control.

The OL well not much to go on really the OL is a **** show. Would of liked to see Wallace step up and surprise us. And he may still at some point. But again no real opinion.

Baker see above.

Dial didn't make it so that's that.

Milton is what he was in college. A dude with a cannon and athleticism with no touch or consistent accuracy. Think he winds up on the PS at some point this year once league rosters settle down at the position.

Bell I'm actually kind of excited about. Liked him in college and he showed some bright spots especially when Hunter and Hooper went down.

Overall can't complain but like others have said. Won't know for a couple of years. Remember many folks, myself included, thought Buffalo missed on Allen. He was erratic with his decisions (could argue he still is), inaccurate etc.. year three it just clicked.

I'll choose to whistle past the graveyard on the opposite example at QB....
