Nice showing from Maye tonight and a few positives to take away from it. However, a lot of questions remain up front and Brissett's shoulder injury will now be the point of discussion heading into the opener.

Press conferences incoming:

Did left tackle #77 just line up in the backfield again?

This may go down as one of the worst offenses in league history. The OL is so damn bad. They can't run the ball, they can't give time to let routes develop when they are trying to pass the ball and they are undisciplined. You hope to see some of that crap cleaned up throughout the preseason so you can go to work on other problems, yet here we are.

I don’t think Brissett’s injury will ultimately be that serious, I think they were just being precautionary.

The officiating was very weird tonight… Okorafor definitely goofed to some extent but he was one of several guys lining up the way he was yet was the only one called… and many other calls were suspect. Game felt pretty… strange in this regard. Not sure how much stock to put into it.

Backup center is an issue but hopefully this can be addressed one way or another.

Onwenu was OK at best at RT. Robinson did not really live up to his positive press. I would be looking into getting Onwenu back at guard and figuring something else out at tackle.

Hopefully Sow is not seriously injured. Leaves the door open for Jordan to make the team who I did not originally have on my list as making it, but he looked fine and I think he’s a decent player.

Boutte getting no real looks makes me scratch my head a little. Either they see him as a relative lock or they’re trying to hide him a bit to keep him from being claimed. I still think he’s worth keeping over Osborn…

Terrell Jennings continues to show nice burst out of the backfield, I think he might be a hidden gem.

The safeties were all over the place tonight. Saw nice plays by Hawkins, Pettus and Bledsoe. This is good since they needed a little help there. Conversely, some of the depth CBs struggled a bit despite opportunities to prove themselves.

Still think they should keep all 4 QBs but I dunno what will happen. If they’re not gonna keep Zappe then they certainly didn’t do him any favors the last 2 weeks.

Gibson is going to have a good year.
Polk was sharp.
Pats had 3 WRs open on 1 play.- Pop, Polk and T 111
Osborn should have caught that pass from Brisett.

1. Milton is not an NFL QB! TE maybe
2. Zappe is done
3. Pats should consider signing Mike White
4. There are no fixes for this OL during the season, Wolfe blew it in FA by not getting an anchor for the line
5. Trent Brown on his worst day is better than anyone on this line.
6. Polk looks good as a #2 or 3 WR
7. Maye shows promise but he will get hurt with this OL
8. Ellis is a keeper
9. Pats will be 0-4 before you can blink anele...first 4 game are all tough.

This season will be a real test as to who is a real Pats fan and who isn't. This Offense could be historically bad.
No confidence in Mayo or Wolfe as leaders of the franchise.

Maye should not see the field under any circumstances. Not until mid-season or so. Assuming OL is better.

Putting him out there against the likes of Bosa and others is just ludicrous.
Makes you wonder if there is still value to keeping Zappe around.

Brissett’s already dinged up. Maye needs protected, and Milton is a 7th round rookie. (and starting him over Maye would be a horrible look)

Still hopeful this team could be looking much better later in the season. Maybe a 93 esque finish to the season.

I’m beginning to realize this may be thr worst Patriots team I’ve ever seen since I became a fan in 1992. And they might win fewer games than the 2 that team did.

But…the year after that, Parcells came in and brought hope.

The real question is…if the team wins 2 or fewer games, will Kraft stand behind Mayo and Wolf, or will they be the sacrificial buffer hires between Bill and the guys who will actually lead the team next?

How many games lost would you say Mayo has to go after one season?

Or is there no circumstance that happens?

Look…the O line is horrific.

I can live with an awful season IF Maye develops, doesn’t get killed, and the team improves over the year.

But if it doesn’t look very different in December, not sure I’d like to see year two of this regime.
