OT: WEEI is rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic again

Looks like it is that time of the year that WEEI reshuffles their on air roster to get crushed by 98.5. Adam Jones and Rich Keefe will be doing the midday show. Andy Hart gets a fulltime spot and Christian Arcand is promoted to head the afternoon show. Meggo is demoted to fill in host. Gresh and Fauria look to be out.

Funny, I think Meggo is better than Jones or Arcand who are unlistenable. Either way, it is just moving around crap to make different crap. I will never get why they continue to counter program Felger and Mazz with watered down versions of Felger and Mazz.

I guess the morning show is going to stay the same.

Adam Jones is a Felger wannabe without the entertainment value and I just can't listen to Arcand's stupid accent. If I was WEEI, I probably find the biggest homers or just get guys who are going to talk straight sports without all the grab ass BS for the afternoon slot. I prefer the latter. You ain't going to out ***** Felger and Mazz. So why try? Get 2020s version of Fred Smerlas without all of his bafoonery. Either that or get an Evan Lazar type who is good at what Lazar does (actually analyzing the game on the field), but for all Boston sports and talk actual sports every day.

Them trying to find their own Felger and Mazz isn't going to happen. They really should try and switch gears and have an X's and O's show or a show with positive takes. I get the whole "if it bleeds it leads" mentality when it comes to the media as a whole but what EEI has been trying isn't working. Time to switch gears.

Everyone at WEEI is weak and they need new people. Gresh was OK at first but he is a 98.5 retread and is now back to his old self rambling with incoherent speculation. Fauria is only better than Merloni who was awful. There is a lot of improvement possible.

Sure. But I am not sure I am a great "pointers" guy. I founded and run two medical device companies, which does include pretty extensive marketing, but I am not sure that is the same as Sports Radio. But feel free to send your audition along.

As demanding as it is in Southern CA, I don't notice anyone critical on talk radio the rare times I actually listen. On the other hand, The LA times has always been fairly critical of both the Dodgers and Lakers. Nobody gives a **** about the Angels, Kings, Rams, Chargers and especially the Clippers. You better be prepared for backlash if you say you're a Clippers fan out here.

Greg hill is carrying the ratings for WEEI... thus this would be the 2nd gig gresh gets canned from.. remember he got ousted at 98.5. I love Christian on mid day.. the best was him, Lou and Glenn. When Glenn retired it changed everything. I didn't mind gresh but he's over talks the second host alot and can be a bit overbearing on his short sighted opinions . I believe Christian will probably take a gull time gig with WBZ sports. Andy hart is funny to me with his takes.

Gresch used to be on a local sports radio show in RI before he hit the big time.. he was unlistenable then, so I suspect he carried that tradition with him to EEI....
OTOH I find most sportstalk radio unlistenable as all they try to do is gin up nontroversy..

It's really not that hard to talk intelligently about sports, and to do so in a fun and engaging way. I think one of the biggest mistakes these stations make is that they think people want "edgy" stuff or hot takes or counter hot takes. All I really want is to have guys with good radio voices talk intelligently about sports and do so in a way that makes me glad I've listened. It doesn't really seem like too much to ask.
