Jaguar Mac Jones is about to embarrass the genius BB and his all star coaching staff [mod edit: he didn’t]

Garbage argument.
No, it's not. You just disagree.
Tom had the flexibility of going to a team which was already flush with talent. Gronk tagging along certainly helped, drafting two All Pros and key resignings helped. Bill needed to rebuild.
Bill needed to rebuild because he was complicit in driving TB12 out of New England and his awful performance as a GM. As far as Tampa Bay, QB is the most important position and Brady was transcendent. Tampa Bay doesn't win a SB without TB12.
If Bill goes to KC does he win a Super Bowl? Do the 49ers (seeing how their coach poops his pants in big games) win with Bill?
I don't know. Maybe. Does he swap a defensive coordinator to offense? Does he bench key players for the SB? There's no doubt the man is a great coach and knows football inside and out. Given the right players and coaches, he'd take teams deeps into the playoffs.

While you make a good point - please note I never said Brady would be ringless w/o BB - let’s not discount the fact that the 2020 TB squad accumulated lots of talent for that run. So, again, while Brady was the key cog, let’s not pretend he single-handedly dragged trash to the SB.
That's true. He can't catch the ball or block.

The 2024 schedule and the OP's comment combine to make this as good a time as any to roll out the classic words, made famous by the greatest HC of all time:

"We're on to Cincinnati."

Mac Jones, Matt Patricia, so many others and so much else are now part of the past. I wish them all only the best.
But now true Pats fans have a team to support through a few bumps in the road, just as we were so giddy to support that team during the most successful run of any Franchise in the history of the NFL or, arguably, all of professional sports.

Bandwagoners are welcome to jump off at any time. You won't be missed.

Clearly winning 2 Super Bowls in 9 season as a defensive coordinator is good. Not as good as Fat Matt's 2 in 6 seasons as a coordinator but still pretty good. I guess that make Matt a better defensive mind.
Yep, and that's EXACTLY why putting those two SBs on the same plain as the ones he won as head coach is unjustified.

How many of Matt's gameplans are in the Hall of Fame?

Another way to put it is MP has the same number of rings as Don Shula therefore MP is just as good as him.

Sounds good to me! Lol

There's a staute of Doug Pederson in Philly. Thanks Bill!

It is garbage. It's akin to a kid choosing to live with an upper class family as opposed to a married couple building a life and starting a family from scratch.

He needed to rebuild anyway. Defense and offense was dearth of talent in 2019.

Yes- Brady was transcendent but even he couldn't overcome the **** of the 2019 offense.

Exactly. We don't know. Just like we don't know how Tom would have done if he didn't go to Tampa Bay and somewhere else instead. We don't know how Andy Reid would do w/o Mahomes or how Shanny Jr would do if TB12 was his QB and not JimmyG.

Let’s not rewrite history. Tampa Bay 8-8 with a QB that threw 36 INTs the season before TB, Gronk, and a bunch of other ring chasers joined up. That team was loaded.

They needed to rebuild regardless because playing in 4 Super Bowls in 5 years and kicking cap down the road had a cost.

Brady didn’t want to stick around for a rebuild and his wife wanted to live in Florida. This isn’t Days Of Our Lives…

Mac Looked great in yesterday's preseason game. 16-23 2 TD's no interceptions. It's only one preseason game (true) but
Amazing what a supportive and non backstabbing coaching staff can do to help a young QB. Joe has a real chance to develop with Pederson into a very good qb.
Maybe fences could have been mended if Bill hadn't thrown this kid under the bus so many times.
Another case of Bill's oversize ego ruining the team. Bill was a pric* with this kid and f'ed him up like he f'ed up the team.

I had advocated for keeping MAC as a backup QB for 24 and seeing how things play out in TC.
Might have allowed Pats to draft Joe Alt or Harrison or Malik Nabors. Or at a minimum been better competition for Maye than Brissett.

If somehow Lawrence goes down and Mac lights it up...it will be yet another huge black eye for "The greatest Coach of All time"
By the way..the greatest coach of all time will end up being "Andy Reid"

I am rooting for:
1. BB to never get the all time wins record
2. not be recognized as greatest head coach of all time
3. Not getting another HC job.

What he did ti the Patriots over the past 5 years was blatant malpractice and his incredibly poor judgment destroyed this franchise. Justice will be for him to not get another job,
you sound bitter and now nobody can take you serious. stop

VrabelJr: Let's not rewrite history.

Also VrabelJr: Gives incorrect stat regarding Tampa Bay's record and the number of INT's their QB threw

Oh sorry it was 30 INTs, not 36.

That’s not what happened at all… Zappe told his old high school OC or something that he knew he would be a starter, he didn’t tell BB. Then later that other person told people he had said that, not Zappe.

I always felt like there were all these reports of people saying Zappe said or did something but it was very nebulous in details or from someone several degrees removed from the situation. Part of the issue was due to the local media putting a magnifying glass on the “QB battle” and trying to find any little shred of worthwhile Zappe news, but I also think sometimes people were just sending up bogus Zappe stories (possibly Mac’s camp).

Mac was let go and the news articles about his antics have followed him to Jax despite him having no chance of being a starter there. Meanwhile the Pats kept Zappe despite the supposed “toxicity” and we haven’t had one single sniff of issues even though he might have expected to be able to battle Brissett for the top job but instead is buried at the bottom of the depth chart. I think this tells us all we need to know doesn’t it?

Lmao. Ross said “ Quarterback battle.”

Did anyone here see the “ boxing match” between “ Dollar” Bill and Mafee on Billions? That is the best analogy to the Quaterback battle between Jones and Zappe last season. Check it out on

Bro… let it go. Go grab a beer and enjoy the next few more years of misery. We have won waaaayyyy too much up here in New England the last 20 plus years. You gotta expect the law of averages is gonna kick our proverbial azzzes!!
