Wolf on Lowe: “It’s been impressive to watch him progress”

This was Lowe's "block" on Mac's int vs the Colts at the point where ball came out. Unless his eyes were shut there's no way Jones didn't see the rush and I think it impacted his decision when to throw it. Combined with his usual subpar mechanics and you have an int. If Lowe wasn't beaten cleanly who knows what happens.

I was called a Mac shill last year for both pointing this out and saying the OL was not great.

We have to go with that Single RB set can't go Empty with Lowe on the left side. Let's hope AVP don't think otherwise.
We did on Thursday, and per the McCourty's, Lowe wasn't aware the running back was in to chip and Lowe still screwed it up allowing for a pretty decent hit on Maye.

Then Biggest disappointment to me is Calvin Anderson it's telling if they have Lowe well ahead of him. It's looking like Anderson a sure cut!

Don't think Anderson has gotten many reps and is still working his way back....

We can't wait forever.

It still was a throw off the back of his foot at the end of a game that we really needed to win....

And the rusher is obviously executing an inside move which suggests that the LOS was probably that black line....Jones was 21 feet behind the LOS throwing off the back of his foot.... and don't I see EE in the flat there for a dump off?

Right. And when you have a QB with poor mechanics like Mac... you're inviting disaster by giving the rusher a lane to him.

Yep. He was turned around though. Too bad Mac didn't roll to his right, not sure if he had time.

What is he supposed to say?
We are going to Start the Rookie C Wallace @ LT we think he has all the tools to be decent there. We would like him to grow with Maye and our young WR's: there.

If our team was actually good and we had a lot of really good players under contract, I'd feel a little differently. That's when you can really start, to some degree, really targeting specific positions either for the immediate need or long-term succession planning. But our roster is such a blank slate that I don't think we should really be too worried about that. If Wallace and Robinson hit at RT then you free up money to spend elsewhere. We need an infusion of legit starting caliber players across the roster via the draft. Just trust the draft board and take advantage of the roster being an open canvas where you can move pieces around and re-allocate money as needed.
It sounds like you favor going with the Best Player Available, BPA. But that is not what the Pats did in 2024, they drafted almost 100% offensive players because they targeted certain positions, QB, WR, and OL, and drafted those positions, not BPA.

Certainly feels like that, and I've said before that I disagree with that approach. I think at #3 with QB, if there's a guy you think is the legit franchise guy you have to take him. So my hope is they actually have conviction with Maye specifically and didn't just want to come away with "a QB" no matter what.

I also think early in the draft you want some mix of BPA and team need/targeting positions. It's just a function of the draft board being deeper for early rounds. The closer you are to the top of the draft, the more players with high grades you're going to be picking between. If both players are graded similarly then yeah, position or team need can be a tiebreaker. The further down the board you get, the less highly rated players you're going to have so you're going to have less and less of that.

Maybe I'm being naive, but I'm guessing (or maybe just hoping) that the logic with Baker and Robinson in the 4th was different than with the first 3 picks. I'm hoping that once they got to day 3, they recognized that it's tough enough to get starter level players as-is without also trying to cater to certain positions and were just going by the draft board mostly. And it just so happens that another WR and OL were the guys they had highly rated.

I can't believe I am defending Lowe....but a player of Lowe's caliber should only be expected to hold a block for 3 seconds tops...and really have no chance one on one in an open field...and a QB needs to be cognizant of that....

Then again, things happen really really fast in a NFL snap....and I am just here sitting in front of my laptop typing away....

They had no choice it was mostly an Offensive Draft. I think this past Draft had the most Offensive Players taken ever 22 or 23 from 32 selections.

Caught this tidbit on Kraft Films... short clip... Wolf, talking to Lowe...

Your nose is growing Pinocchio.

This is beginning to feel like the Chaim Bloom Red Sox era where they blatantly tell you your eyes and common sense are wrong and the players are actually good, and they aren’t half-assing it.

Rebuild?

Fine.

But just say that and don’t try and sell me Vedarian Lowe as a viable starter at LT.

Stranger Says and you guys were complaining about me!!

We going to have to Max protect on the left side every snap.. cannon Drake is going to have to throw it 60 years instead of 55.
