It's time to move Onwenu back to RT.

Plain and simple:

> Big Mike is our *best* tackle (by far)!
> Signed him to a FA contract commensurate to play tackle.
> He was rated the third best *tackle* available during free agency - right behind Trent Brown (good grief)..
> We have a couple of “potential “ decent guards that should free him up to play tackle.
> Our other tackles (each and every one of them are “jags” who we don’t trust enough to even play our future #1 QB - and that sadly goes for the “first” unit tackles as well.
> Even “Wikipedia” states he is an “ American Football Offensive Tackle”!

So, play the guy at RT and take the biggest/baddest guard not named Onwenu and put him on the left side with the best “jag” tackle standing and start prayin….

Should we keep both Lowe and Anderson?

Lowe was terrible last year, with poor coaching on a terrible Offense.

Anderson should be an OK backup.

Wallace may or may not be ready.
===============
OPTION ONE
Make developing Wallace the #1 OL task this year. Start him at RT and coach him up through his rookie errors. Okorafor would be our starting LT. Given that all four OT are question marks, keeping 4 on the roser makes sense to me, if we can't acquire a veteran backup swign OT.

OPTION TWO
Start Lowe at LT with Okorafor/Wallace at RT and swing OT.

OPTION THREE
Go with the best that we have and recognize that Wallace isn't ready to start. In that case, Onwenu should switch to RT, Okorafor would start at RT and Wallace could be the swing OT. If Wallace is only backup RT at the moment, then we would need to keep a fourth OT.

I don't know why Lowe is getting reps. He can't play. He couldn't play at RT and he sure can't play at LT so start getting the new guys in there.

But he’s one of the quietest OL to play! Must be worthy of a spot then.

Reports are that the rookie Layden Robinson has been a standout during practice, and looked good at LG during Thursday night's game.

Last year, Sow/Onwenu stabilized the right side of the line.

The team doesn't have one NFL starting tackle beyond Onwenu. It's a few swing tackles, and practice squad players to be used only when everyone is hurt and the team is desperate.

I don't care if Onwenu is a better guard. He was serviceable/good last year at RT, and the best tackle we have.

The Patriots can't trust their rookie QB with the offensive line, but still they don't play their best five offensive linemen.

WTF???
It usually takes half a season to figure out this is what you must do because you invested very little in the tackle position

Actually I think there will be a T available for trade or released that is better than Lowe.

They have been playing Lowe at LT because they want to verify that he totally sucks before they release him…IMO.
There’s likely a T available that is currently working the Quickie Mart produce stand that is more capable than Lowe

I understand the opinion that we should start Robinson at RG and move Onwenu to RT. However, I don't think Onwenu is a mobile enough run-blocking tackle in an AVP offense. I would love to see Sow spend some time with the new coaching staff at RT. Sow had some ability last year, but his footwork was just god-awful then. I know the pass protection would be even more spotty, but they could really run the ball down most teams' throats.

Sow had no ability for RT beyond he was a good guard trying to learn the position.

That awful footwork is a coordination issue, not something he would ever learn to be a serviceable tackle.

Considering the jags the team is trying out at tackle, the current coaches agree.

Sow won the right tackle job exiting camp last year but they had to shuffle the lineup and move him inside because Onwenu and Strange missed game one with injury. He doesn't have awful coordination or footwork, if he did he wouldn't be able to play guard either... I don't know where you got that from.

The coaching staff this season put Sow and Onwenu at guard because at least they'd have 3/5's of a competent line, and more importantly they could protect from inside pressure. With their big tall QB's at least the short game and inside run game would be effective. Inside pressure is arguably more dangerous than outside pressure, at least according to Tom Brady. Layden Robinson is probably a year in the strength and conditioning program away from being starter material, they can't count on him yet.

The team is trying out jags at tackle because that's who Wolf and the collaboration saddled the coaches with this offseason. They did a poor job at fixing the tackle position. This could change if Wallace, Zuri Henry or Diesch can elevate up to the starting five, or Calvin Anderson can ever fully recover from malaria... but we shouldn't slam our only good lineman due to incompetence by the front office. Onwenu and Sow can only play one position at a time.

Agree with this completely. Tackles are the issue, moving Onwenu out resolves one of the issues, then they need to find an answer for this season at LT.

You seem to think if you repeat this false statement enough times, it will be true. They tried Sow with the ones during preseason, and mixed and matched opening day when Calvin Anderson dragged his body out to start on the right side And when it was obvious Anderson was a wreck, Vederian Lowe was the choice at tackle game 2. What about Sow? They sat him, zero snaps games 2/3. Sow wasn't even a backup tackle when he wasn't playing at all, even if the likes of Lowe was the other option.

The fact is Sow was the player who was shuffled out when Onwenu came back and Anderson was benched. It wasn't until later he took over at guard.

Zuri Henry didn’t even get into Thursday’s game on offense, so it’s probably about time to give that one up.

Sow was running with the ones at RT by the end of preseason. He started every game he was healthy. That's not false, it's what happened. Sow played the third most snaps on the entire offense last year. When Onwenu came back Sow was out with a concussion... he didn't get "shuffled out."

He got moved from right tackle to guard because Strange and Onwenu missed game one. Mafi was the other guard in that game. They had an injury nightmare in week one. Trent Brown and Anderson played tackle because it was the best option available to them at that time. Sow came back from injury and they needed a guard at that time so he played guard.

We'll see... in the old days when there was 5 preseason games, the last game was usually the one that secured the back end of the roster guys a spot or got them cut.

The coaches need to start moving the younger, better guys up and cut the trash. Enough with Lowe, he is clearly not the answer. Okorafor isn't much better but might be serviceable. Cut the trash and bring in some camp casualties who got let go by other teams for salary cap reasons.

I would like to see a lineup of Wallace-Sow/Robinson-Andrews-Robinson/Sow-Owenu and lets see what happens.
Wallace—Sow—Andrews—Robinson—Onwenu

At this point what choice do we have? Okorafor with a better attitude would crack the starting five at one of the tackles, probably RT.

LT: Chuks
LG: Sow
C: Andrews
RG: Onwenu
RT: Wallace

I suspect that the team would prefer to play Lowe and not move Onwenu. The question is whether Chucks is even an OK swing OT.
