Mac Joes and the Offense sucked last Preseason but you would say it's just preseason funny how his sucking carried over in the regular season.

Yes- I prefer to wait until a few games into the regular season to make an assessment of the team.

If you want to do it on August 15th go for it.

Why does it matter? They weren't going to magically get more in February for him and they didn't know where they would be at after the free agency and draft. There was every possibility that a bunch of studs we could snag up would hit free agency, we'd have a dynamite draft, Maye would look like a mega star in training camp, and then you start thinking "hmmm maybe we do want to have Judon around just in case we turned this around faster than we thought". That didn't happen, they saw what his negotiating stance was and weighed it in relation to the team and decided a 3rd was better than paying for a guy who wasn't going to be relevant when they had any shot at winning.

They weren't getting a 2nd or more for a 32 year old who needed a contract.

I would think the reason it matters would be obvious it would be nice to have already used the draft pick so we could be developing a player now rather than waiting until next April.

My main worry is that he is Pete Carroll following Bill Parcells. The "fun" guy after the disciplinarian. I remember that article that came out about 10 years ago where McGinest talked about how some of the more immature players knew they could get away with more under Carroll and didn't fear him the way they feared Parcells.

That is my main concern as well.

With that said, BB being "BB" the NEP were an undisciplined bunch last year (and the year before) but I think that had more to do with talent and lack of quality coaches than BB being tuned out.

With this being a young team and very devoid of any real player leadership outside of maybe David Andrews I just hope Mayo's message lands. Judon wasn't a cancer like Jack Jones or Trent Brown but when the best player on your team is engaged in a very public contract dispute it doesn't make things any easier on a first year head coach.

I think the team has actually been doing a good job keeping the "good guys" and sending the players who were/can be disruptions packing. That sends a message to the locker room - and a good one.

Judon was a solid teammate and a good guy but once he started making his contract issue public with no resolution he became a distraction and a potential issue going into the season.

4 of 5 were toast and the other (Randy) regretted it. Judon, we'll see. Given how engaged he was with the team and fans, he certainly got a kick in the ass on the way out.

Just pointing out those instances with players who refuted and ended up gone soon after. What's getting lost in the shuffle is a great a man as judon was.. possibly his attitude soured when he couldn't come to terms on An agreement.

I gotta say the Dolphins ownership was rated highest in the NFL by players, we were ranked I believe last or close to.
That and income taxes and a rebuild, are the results of players turning their nose up at us and choosing Pitt, Ten over us.
As Jerod said once they start winning and the culture and lockerroom change takes full effect. Players will line up to play here regardless if it’s Maye or Milton behind center.
The players that are part of the rebuild see the vision Mayo has and believes in it.
I’m sure since Kraft let all football operations to Bill he didn’t know how unhappy the players were with the facilities and amenities.
I’m sure Bill saw these as things that don’t matter but the players spoke up and said otherwise.
Also we are one of the only fanbases that boos are own players more than the other team.
That doesn’t help.
Yes I was one of the ones who bood Mac on Sundays.

The fact our fans are brutal also plays into things I’m sure. As weak and thin skinned people are today…just sayin…

Without further injuries, I suspect that the Defense will be about the same as last year, perhaps a bit better.

Last year we lost Judon, Gonzo and M Jones. This year we have lost Judon and Barmore.

That being said, we will still scour the waiver list for upgrades, and perhaps explore trades for a LB.

This regime has retained a lot of the homegrown guys which sometimes was something I faulted Bill for not doing. I like that it sends a message that if you get drafted here, play well, and are a good locker room fit then there is a good chance you get paid. Obviously the flip side of that the guys who don't get a new deal can get bent out of shape but those homegrown second contract guys are the ones you want to emerge as leaders ideally.

I am sure the players don't love trading away the best player on the team but I give them enough credit to know where this team stands in the grand scheme of things and why Judon isn't here anymore.

Unless you're one of the players that got paid I think they'll remember trading away Judon more than giving some money to Godchaux or Dugger or anything else.

His trade re-inforced the messaging.

Complain and become a distraction and you are gone.

Basides, Judon was taken care of last year and got big money from the team as FA.
