MY EXREME HOMER POSITION
1) I expect us to win about 6 games.
2) The coaches are inexperienced but will be given lots of slack and will learn as they go. They are a huge improvement.
3) I believe that we could use upgrades in almost every unit. However, IMO the primary backups are all NFL quality players. The major exception is of course at LT.
4) I didn't expect the Offense to gel for at least half of the year. I expect the Offense to be about 20-25th in the NFL this year, a major improvement.
5) I'm OK with Okorafor and Wallace as starter and backup at RT, in whichever order. This will still probably be our 2nd worst position, after LT.
6) Perhaps, Okorafor will be the swing OT or not. It is more likely that we will need to have a backup LT active in every game.

THE ABSOLUTE DISASTER AT LT
Yes, we will need a TE or 6th OL helping out on almost every play. Lowe and Anderson as our LT's. Is Anderson even a better LT than Okorafor?

Please, please, please, let us not repeat the 2023 disaster at LT. If we can't get better than Lowe, then so be it. Game plan knowing that. However, we do need at least one new signee as a backup. It seems that we have a couple of youngsters for the Practice Squad. BTW, I think that this means more running, so we should sign another RB. As of now, we just can't handle an injury to one to the top two RB's.

BOTTOM LINE
The team will be better when we cut down to 50 players. We won't be having our QB playing with Mafi at center. There will be a game plan that utilizes whichever WR's are playing best, plus using Henry, Gibson and Stevenson as receivers.

This is new. Thanks for finally offering your takes on the roster.

Is it now considered to be an extreme homer position to expect for them to be slightly better than last year? I guess I'm an extreme homer too then.
This was my thought as well. Not very extreme when he starts with just 6 wins. That's very reasonable not extreme.

I think Lowe will make incremental progress and potentially become a serviceable LT. I like Anderson as the swing.

Wallace will have growing pains. Jury is still out on him. He went through the motions for much of his Penn State career. Only his last year did he show urgency.

I hope this continues. His physical tools and quick feet are impressive.

I’m beginning to think Chuks Okorafor is not going to work. Pittsburgh let him walk. When they were in desperate shape at OT. That tells you something.

The Pats are in year 1 of a 3 year rebuild.

Maye will be the starting QB next season for sure.

The Vikings traded Lowe for a 6th rounder. He sucks. If you have some confidence in Lowe your expectations have hit rock bottom. We should expect excellence.

Like Bedard said, we ass.

Suddenly Bedard is the Truth.

2024 is going to be rough. Tough to see much success with this OL and possibly no barmore. I do have an optimistic outlook for 2025, though it is dependent on a few hopeful and possible developments.

- maye being ready and becoming a solid starter

- barmore recovering fully from his clots like andrews did and able to come back at full strength a year later.

- One of 2 would need to happen on the OL. Strange comes back to solidify LG kicking sow back to rg and onwenu to rt, or ideally one of wallace / okorafor improve enough over the year to be competent at rt. Andrews doesn’t decline too much. This would have us just needing to fill LT. Edit: there is actually a 3rd option here if Layden Robinson steps up at RG as hes been impressing lately per reports.

- polk and baker are as advertised thus far in camp and pop/bourne stay healthy. That is a nice set of wr’s , our best in several years.

- mayo and his staff are competent

If you get these we can prioritize LT , edge if judon leaves as expected, cb most likely as jones contract is up and hes getting up there in age. Definitely doable in an offseason where youre picking near the top of each rd and there is FA if we decide to start throwing some cash around. Stay positive!

I don't think this is fair to Lowe. Players develop at all sorts of speed and sometimes on their second or third teams.

The real issue here is that he seems to have won his role by default. That said they gave Chucks the first try and quickly moved onto Wallace and then they quickly switched to Lowe who has been there ever since so he's obviously doing some things right or they would have tried someone else.

I still don't have high expectations for Lowe but based on camp so far I'm willing to ignore last years performance and see what he does this year.

I'm in the 4 - 8 camp.

Not showing off and not doom and gloom.

Fair. I'm in the 2-8 camp.

I'd like to think we are improved but that's no guarantee especially if the OL is actually worse than last year so saying 2-8 takes that into account.

I think we should be a game or 2 better just based on Gonzo and Judon playing so I've been going with 6 wins. The WR room and QB play has me hopeful we can do better than 6 but the OL is making me poop my pants out of fear.

I agree. I'm of the mind of watching each game and seeing how it plays out. I can't even muster up a win/loss record. Because I truly don't know. I just have to use the eye test.

Players improve through there third or fourth year, and after that they are who they are. That is not being mean, it is the human condition. Lowe is in his third year and 25 years old, so there is room for improvement. I would not be too helpful, but maybe.

No way that this offense looks worse now than preseason in 2022. That Raiders game was a debacle. That was a systemic problem from top to bottom. This time it's the OL specifically LT. Hopefully we can get some reinforcements on the waiver wire in a couple weeks.
