It makes absolutely 0 sense continuing playing Maye with the 2s. It is only a disservice to Maye development.

The more and more I think about it is that Brissett is AVP’s guy and he is protecting him.
It just is what it is he's not better than Jacoby yet so he plays with the 2s.

This o line needs a compete tear down.
Especially at the tackle position.
Screw trading for a WR.
Get the kids some protection.
We know the issues at tackle but I'm starting to get way more concerned about our options at Center after David Andrews.

They should just play Maye with the 1's
Honestly, it’s not that hard. It’s like the coaching staff is afraid that Maye could look better than Brissett.

Reports are the offense got obliterated today with 14 sacks in 42 snaps! FOURTEEN!!! Unbelievable. Of course, I was in the minority re. trading down, grabbing a franchise tackle and getting a rookie QB later.

We have an aging pro-bowler in Andrews and a pro-bowl caliber Onwenu on OL. That's it...
And a dozen cast-offs and unproven newbies.
Not a good recipe for a rebuild with a rookie QB.

They better do something soon. You're saving tons of money on skill position right now, lots of youth and rookie contracts.
So, put it all on the OL.

Yeah... there are very little resources available out there to fix the offensive tackle position now. There are some very old guys, fossils.

The collaboration should have taken a tackle in the second round, should have signed better tackles in free agency. Do a little of both and this is a pretty well rounded team. Oh well...

Too late now, if they're going to improve it will have to come from within. The young guys have to improve mightily, not sure they can or will.
I think I'd be willing to give up Polk and next year's one for us to trade up and take one of the tackles taken in the first. This is looking bad.

He already does look better than him, he is way better than Jacoby today, to think otherwise is stupid at this point.
I think they want to tank the season, I really do. Or they are completely afraid of Maye getting killed by the line and being blamed for an injury or the offense not playing well, and everyone will blame them for playing Maye to soon and they are scared of that criticism in a year they know they have no chance of a Super Bowl..

Who does not give the #3 overall pick reps with the starters, EVER, when it's Jacoby Freaking Brissett?

The ship has sailed on any meaningful help at tackle. Not taking a look at a guy like Jonah Williams or even seeing what Tyron Smith has left in the tank is looking even more like a major blunder. Bill neglected the RT spot last year and this regime didn't seem to know what to do at tackle either. It is clear Lowe can't play so I don't know why we are giving him any meaningful reps. Kick Onwenu out to RT and see how Okorafor and Wallace look at LT and just hope for the best.
I don't agree about Lowe he's ascended to the starting unit and it's our second unit that's looked absolutely atrocious. I'm not Saying Lowe should be starting but he seems improved enough from last year to be a borderline starter and a decent backup. Unfortunately he's looking like our starter. If all 5 can stay healthy Lowe, Sow, Andrews, Onwenwu, and Chucks then I think we'll be OK not a great unit but better than last year. Other than RT I think our depth is absolutely brutal.

I've been saying this about Maye since last November.
One can still be a very successful QB with a longer release but it doesn't lend itself to being more accurate.

I don't know. I would love to believe he has improved but he had a brutal showing on Thursday. At this point I think someone else needs to be taking those reps.

Guys. There's no one coming to save the day. This is what and who they are. With that, this doesn't mean they are gonna get their ass kicked every game. Guys will improve, get coached up and others will decline. They are what we thought they were.

Time start looking at this stuff. *spoiler alert* not much out there for FA LTs in 2025.

2025 NFL Draft Prospects: Offensive Tackle – WalterFootball

I don't know if it is less hitting in practice or just that there are more elite athletes playing D-line than ever before but the tackle talent pool seems to have decreased drastically in the last 5-10 years. There really aren't even 64 "good" tackles walking the earth at this point.

gotta find some oversight out of the league nba player and coach them ton play LT.

You don't get ON THE PHONE and just 'find' a competent LT. I think that's been pretty conclusively demonstrated. Teams aren't just dealing away 'competent LTs' willy nilly.

Again, I keep hearing this, but give us some names that are available. This was the situation last year, and the two guys that were available via trade were Vedarian Lowe and Tyrone Wheatley. So yeah, go ahead and bring in more of those guys, but it's not going to matter. I think we need to accept that this is a 2025 offseason problem. Until then it's extra blockers, scheme shifts, or bumping Onwenu back to RT and hoping Peters can coach up one of the four other guys to a competent LT. There's no option out there to throw resources at.

And with a top 5 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft the New England Patriots select....

LT of your choice, and move Wallace over to RT...that goes a long way to fixing the line. Until then, what we have is what we got.

We could have signed Tyron Smith in FA. The Pats went cheap and signed Okorafor instead. Smith is a professional, on a 1 year contract, and even at 33 he is WAY better than Lowe. But we saved $4M we can roll over into 2025

I thought we should have signed Smith assuming he was going to command $10-12 million. When he signed for only $6.5 I can't believe we weren't in the mix.

It's the second most important position on offense IMO, behind QB. IF you can't block worth a ****, all the shiny toys at WR or TE won't get the ball because the QB is getting killed. I get why guys like @Tunescribe wanted to trade down and get the LT now. Build all the foundation and then bring the QB in isn't wrong. They just hedged their bet that Maye at #3 this year and a LT next year is better than Joe Alt and a QB at 10-12 next April. Who knows? Start watching Campbell, Banks and Jones and see what shakes out.

I would have been for that, but I don't think that's the slam dunk you think it is. This is a 33 year old guy who hasn't played more than 13 games in the last NINE years, and has played 4 or less in two of the last four season. There's no guarantee he's even available to be better than these other guys, and doesn't even account for the fact that he may have had no interest in coming here anyway at his age. Again, I wouldn't have said no, but you're oversimplifying the process of signing guys, IMO. LT's don't hit free agency unless they have warts. They're just too valuable.

I am glad we went QB and got Maye at 3 but I was really hoping we would have traded back into the end of round 1 for a guy like Tyler Guyton or took a tackle like Blake Fisher, Patrick Paul, or that giant Samoan kid that looks like he may start at LT for the Chiefs.
