I'm also not worried about Gonzo. He's probably still going 75% as he gets his twitch back in NFL shape.
I don't want guys cutting on dimes the first 2 weeks of camp. That's when you get ligament injuries.
This ^

Also they are running a ton of one on ones this camp... the offense has a clear advantage in ones. No pass rush, usually in the middle of the field with no sideline to use as leverage. I'm not worried once our pass rush starts applying pressure.

Javon Baker continues to impress at camp. He's getting looks with both the 1's and 2's now.

I'm looking forward to seeing Baker show off his goods in preseason.

Joe Milton ain’t clearing waivers. This could be the season four QBs are on the 53 like in 2000.

I don’t think so, I think Zappe will be cut. And I like Zappe but it just doesn’t make sense to hang onto him. Brissett will start but Maye looks pretty solid so it is unlikely they’d somehow end up on their 3rd guy, and even then, heck the season is toast anyway so just play Milton. He has looked better than expected too. Brissett himself got thrown into the fire as the third guy who was forced into action as a rookie here so he would be able to make sure Milton had what he needed if that situation arose.

Nah ….they will either PS Zappe or cut him! Milton is too damn good and could either be a starter here or trade bait down the road. Kid has freakish talent and physique…..could fetch a high pick next year or two!

How did Gonzalez go from locking down AJ Brown and Tyreek Hill to struggling against every WR on our roster.

Could it be the extra weight?
Believed what he was reading in the media about being CB1, forgot he still has to back it up on the field

Is it just me or do the Pats have an abundance of "could be pretty good" CBs? Alex Austin, Marco Wilson, Isaiah Bolden, Marcellas Dial, even Azizi Hearn has been making a lot of noise. And Marcus Jones has not yet really hit his potential yet either. Shaun Wade is also there who's not bad. Seems like Gonzo and JJones are good starters but then they have a big bench of guys who might also be starter level.

It'd be nice if Austin or one of these other guys could step up into a more permanent CB2 level and allow Jones to flex in/out of CB or FS as the matchups dictate.

It’s just you.

Zappe will go to PS, less likely to get claimed than Milton.
You are overvaluing Milton and undervaluing Zappe.

It doesn’t matter how big M’s arm is if he can’t throw it where it needs to go, and those pockets are much tighter in the NFL. It also doesn’t matter if he can’t run an NFL offense. Word on the street is that he doesn’t like to run.

Zappe, despite his shortcomings, has demonstrated that he can win NFL games as a starter. He has shown that he can play behind a garbage line and hang in. He’s tough. That’s more demonstrated ability than a lot of NFL backups.

Zappe will be signed off the PS or choose to play in the CFL or whatever. He wants to start, so don’t count on him staying on that PS.
