Some juicy QB controversy or ….???

You’re missing the part where he is just 21 years old. Daniels is 26! Oh course he is going to be more prepared right out of the gate and counted on as a starter day 1. This was a long term investment, Maye could sit for 2 years and still likely have a much longer career. I fully expect this to look like the Tatum trade, panned as stupid at the time but looks freakin genius now. He went #3 overall not because he was the 3rd best prospect this year but because 3 years down the line with some TLC and a chance to sit, learn, and grow he can be the best QB in the NFL. Patience, it’s a long process and I for one hope the patriots do it right despite the gnashing of teeth from fans and media.
We don't have a Rodgers holding down the fort this is far from the Green Bay situation. Stop confusing the two Franchises Favre - Rodgers and Love to the GOAT QB - Cam Newton - Mac/Zappe and Biscuit. Our QB situating have not been pretty after the GOAT.

Why do I think that's really how you look at your computer?

Hugh Millenated? LMAO
Gotta give credit where it's due
@captainstone would be proud of that
one

I'd like to take credit for it, but one of the Boston sports writers coined that back in the day. I just keep it rolling.

I’m confusing nothing, I didn’t bring up Green Bay, and if this is a holding down the fort year The Brisket is a perfect QB for it. Yes he’s boring, yes he is not going to win you any games, but you know what he is? Consistent and does the right thing. That’s HUGE for this year where a new coach, new OC, and lots of ??? about the rest of the team from the oline to young WRs means there are so many things to iron out. Give the entire team a chance to be evaluated and figure out who to keep and who to chuck as part of the long term plans for the franchise. It’s not going to be pretty, but with some patience and done right I think they could be back to a perennial playoff team for the next decade + as soon as next year. Just have to not rush Maye out there and ruin him.

With all due respect I disagree with the sit him for a year crowd if he's competent. IF he looks like he belongs in the Preseason games would you still sit him?? We gain nothing by playing Biscuit if Maye is competent.

And it’s fine to disagree. Yes I sit him at a MINIMUM for 4 games until I see in live action the Oline is opening holes in the run game and not allowing 5 free rushers a kill shot per game and that’s only if Maye kills it in preseason and leaves no doubt he is ready, which based on camp reports so far is not the case. If the line is the dumpster fire most are expecting then I want Brissett taking those shots. I do want Maye to get some live action experience this year so I wouldn’t sit him the entire year but until the bye? Sounds perfect.

From what I've read, Milton has been playing against the 3's, no?

If so, then... hard to really make comparisons.
Not only that, he's running a completely different and drastically simplified offense. Basically he's running a simple RPO offense.

Nobody with any brains paned the Tatum trade.

That’s great. Can he manage the offense yet? Pretty sure Brissett can. Doubtful Maye can…yet. Next year.
No doubt he'll be there by season opener if they give him the work, Already checked off 2 plays yesterday, it's not rocket science, of course he can.
He'll struggle with what defense throw at him at times like all rookies, but he'll pick it up quicker by playing.
I'm 100% in the camp Maye just needs to play to learn the things he really needs to learn, not the mechanics and learn the offense stuff as that will be no issue by season opener. The issues will be learning what defenses do to test his weaknesses, what he does to adjust, these are the things he needs to learn, impossible if not playing.
Stroud, Love both last season had to play up to 8 games to finally feel comfortable, Love sat for years and still needed half a season to figure out how to play against NFL defenses.

If Jacoby plays more than 4 game this season as starter then Mayo is tanking the season.

The better Milton plays the more depth they will have, as well as better trade bait some day.
Why?

Don't we need a #2 QB for as long as we have Maye, starting in 2025?

But Volin says Milton is going to be QB1! He wouldn’t lie to us would he?

Don't be shocked if he wins the job without taking hardly any 11v11 snaps in camp.

I said he can be depth or trade bait. They could always see another late round project in the next draft or two and trade Milton. Either way his positive development is always a good thing.

Volin is just .....not very bright.

Zappe-mania has died down, so let's resurrect the corpse of Michael Bishop.
Yep. Zappe never had the physical attributes or unusual throwing skills Milton has. The point most people were making about Zappe was that in fairness, given Mac's very uneven performance and Zappe's at least adequate performances in practice and in a couple of games, it might be justifiable, in keeping with the alleged policy that the best player plays, to start him to see what he could do. It was felt that he had earned that opportunity. I felt that he had, but I suspected and said at the time that it was unlikely would be able to show, even given that opportunity, that he could ever be an NFL starter, notwithstanding that I thought he had earned the opportunity to try. Such subtleties were of course lost in the general shouting match, the Great Zappe-Lover vs. Zappe-Hater wars of 2023. I don't think anybody believes that Milton is at all ready as matters stand to start on any basis as a way showing what he can do - he has not earned that - but I would certainly hold onto him for his intriguing upside. Zappe does not have and never did have anything like the same upside.

I hope they keep Milton around as a way of exploring just how his overall game might develop. Zappe was pretty much maxed out at mediocre. Zappe had earned a shot at showing what he could do starting a game. There is no evidence at all that Milton is (yet) in the same position.
