No way Ju Ju makes the 53.
We have no room to trade for a WR now.

Bourne Pup Reagor, Thornton, Pop, Baker, Polk, Osborne, Boutte.

Would love to see 7 WRs and 2 tight ends.
With our rook as a FB/ TE.
I think where this could be possible is having some OL on the PS who is active on game day. OL is by far our weakest position.

I'm not saying he's going to make it or that he now gets it. What I will say is born out of hundreds of examples - draft picks mature at different speeds. Some are instant right from the first practice on, others take two and even three seasons to "get it". Continue to watch him throughout camp...especially in the preseason games...then make the call.

Aug 8th, live fire and observations we can discuss. Until then....

I’m not sure there will be 7 WR’s with questions about the OL. I think they will go with 3 TE’s…2 for inline blocking on the line to help out. WR’s 5-7 would rarely see the field anyway. IMO it will be 5-6 WR’s with Bourne on PUP.

I think Polk is a Meyers clone…Lazar said the same yesterday. Very good possession receiver, high catch %, not a lot YAC’s.
Wrong Polk is a heck of a lot Faster.

Too many WRs I wanna keep man. I guess we will see how they look in the preseason games and if anyone gets hurt first (Thornton lol). But it is encouraging! The only “roster bubble” level guy who isn’t doing anything interesting or impressive is Juju, who also costs the most. Go figure. Maybe they can trade him plus a 2025 6th in exchange for a 2026 5th - so essentially negative value - just to get out of the guaranteed money.

I do feel tentatively hopeful that the offense will be like, top-20 caliber this year. And Ryland is hitting 92% so far? Definitely some good news on those fronts, even if the loss of Barmore puts an overall damper on the defensive side.

Preseason game 1 can’t come soon enough!

You’re completely right. In Thornton’s case I think he had to physically mature and get stronger. He’s only 23. I think he’s gonna be a great WR. He can fly and has good separation moves.
This offense with these receivers and a good running game is gonna be good assuming the line can be half decent.

Ok. Even if he isn’t….850 yds per season I can live with.
I think Polk is faster than Jakobi, closer to Bourne, Rashee Rice or young Juju.

Hovering there at 850-1000 I could see... depending on the number of targets.

Baker might be more physical and vertical than Polk. But it's too early to tell on both of them...

The thing on Tyquan Thornton is we can legitimately say he had an excuse up to now 2022 Rookie year 2023 Mac Jones and Zappe. In reality He had no QB who could get him the ball consistently and we ran a conservative Offense. BOB's Offense last year was the worse! AVP's Offense is pretty vertical so I can see a guy like Thornton thriving in that. What I have also notice Thornton has improved his release he looks dangerous in short areas Thornton might not be a one trick pony.

Wozzy I don't think Jalen Reagor and KJ Osborn are locks it also seems like Boutte is having a good camp love his upside. Seems like Bourne - Polk -Baker and Boutte are very similar WR's I'm talking physical make-up guys with good size.

@Wozzy I wish we had hid Bourne behind the curtains he seems like he will be ready by week 1 no PUP.

I don't think they're necessarily locks either, but Raegor returns kicks and plays special teams.

Polk, Baker, Osborn, Boutte and Juju are all similar WR's... Juju is the first person to get traded due to his contract. I don't think they can keep all four of the other guys without shoving one on the practice squad. Osborn is the next most expensive guy and has a solid reputation around the league so he could be moved as well. Boutte they could probably sneak on the practice squad.

Bourne hasn't practice once yet, we'll see if he's ready. Even if he might be, they could still keep him hidden. The PUP only lasts 4 games now, they could keep him stashed.

Because his injury and surgery was at the halfway point last season Bourne seems way ahead of schedule. Saw some pics of him in practice he looks really good with no limp and buff too. May be his work ethic was the reason why they resigned him so early in FA. Bourne had a career year in 2021 we can scratch the last two years for obvious reasons. His situation is worth watching.

Add in that WRs and other quick twitch players tend to take additional time even when "back" to even approach former production. There's this fallacy that once a player is back it's the same as when they were hurt. That's almost never the case.

They not only have to get back into just basic foundational shape, but also learn what the newly healed body part can and can't do. Add that to the mental aspect in doing so and the assumption of Bourne is likely well above the actuality of what he'll be for at least a few weeks if not longer this season.

A lot of guys break out in Y3. But if Thornton does not break out this year, he is toast. I am rooting for the guy.

Juju doesn’t really cost anything. The cash is already spent and we are in a phase where the cash spending limit prevents us from using all of the cap so the dead money hit is essentially free.
