If line is iffy Maye is used to that in college, he can scramble, make throws while getting hit and keeps head up and makes play while being dragged down. Brissett, not so much and I like Jacoby as a solid backup, just not a guy that can lift a team that lacks some talent.

Many say you must get line right to play Maye, I say you must play Maye if line isn't right. You need a playmaker in that situation.

Pop Douglas being missing makes the line worse as well, you need a guy that gets quick separation to beat the rush. Douglas is that guy for the Pats, and probably the only guy with that proven ability.

Bad day for the OL…

Yup, OL is the weak link - no surprise.
But, they are playing mix & match as usual early in camp. (at least, as usual for the last 5+ years on the Pats)
I really hope they pick a best-5 in the next week or 2, and stick with it for preseason.
The problem with BB's philosophy is he kept juggling OL combos into October.
These guys need to start feeling confident enough in a position to then build chemistry.
I'm fine with Okra at LT, if they lock into him there and give it 6 weeks to build.
Everyone else will work themselves into shape.

Ian,

You need to send some boys round to Bedard and tell him he is being a touch on the negative side.....
I feel like Greg would destroy the spirit of a 3 year old who just fingerprinted for the first time.

JuJu being given the "vet" treatment by getting first reps with starters.
But even the internet-eyeball test can see that he's not quick enough. He may have his mobility and overall health back, but he's certainly the slowest WR out there. He might be the "surprise cut" everyone's talking about.
I'm scared to even say it again - but TT getting a lot of play early. And Reagor too.

Is it a bad thing if our 2nd round, highly touted, WR draft pick finally figures it out? Wouldn't we want that over an aged, injured, slowed JuJu? I would. Because I wouldn't expect to get anything more out of JuJu than TT this year.

Pop, Polk, Osborn, Baker, TT, Reagor - Then drop whoever sucks most when Bourne is ready.
TT could revert to PS - and join Boutte & Wallis.

Long term the plan would be to just have Maye as QB1 and Milton as QB2. When they get there is anyone's guess. Milton passing Zappe is a good sign for his development. Perhaps they can just carry Maye/Milton in 2025 and avoid needing to overpay a veteran - a cheap journeyman QB3 on the PS is probably sufficient at that point. Hell, that guy might just be Zappe.
