Knicks going all in. I don’t see this team as much stronger with Bridges than with Anunoby.
To really compete in the ECF is a) they need to be healthy and b) should attempt to resign Anunoby (he opt'd out). They still have $45 million in first apron space and $56 million in second apron space.Knicks receive:
Mikal Bridges
2026 2nd-round pick
Nets receive:
Bojan Bogdanovic
unprotected 1st-round pick in 2025
unprotected 1st-round pick in 2027
unprotected 1st-round pick in 2029
unprotected 1st-round pick in 2031
unprotected pick swap in 2028
top-four protected 2025 1st-round pick via Bucks
2nd round pick in 2025
This doesn't look like a good trade. So many first round picks over a 7 year period for a guy who is only under contract for 2 more years. I guess the Knicks are going all in for next year.
Yes reports are they still think they will sign Anunoby. Of course, many teams will be interested as he’s a UFA.To really compete in the ECF is a) they need to be healthy and b) should attempt to resign Anunoby (he opt'd out). I'm a big fan of Thib. He'll continue to get them to play good D. Needs health and offense to compete.
The Yankees are like that, but with no salary cap in baseball they can get away with itDo the Lakers ever do anything smart or innovative? Their history is all about hero worship and finding obvious, big name superstars in free agency.
Lakers have little choice but to select Bronny in Round 2 which is hilarious. I guess the second round is a crap shoot anyhow so might as well do it to keep Lebron happy.Do the Lakers ever do anything smart or innovative? They need to jettison Randle. To really compete in the ECF is a) they need to be healthy and b) should attempt to resign Anunoby (he opt'd out). They still have $45 million in first apron space and $56 million in second apron space.

He always has been an enigma to me.They need to jettison Randle.
I like Bridges. That seems like way too many first round picks for a guy of his caliber. Seems almost like they were obsessed to complete their collection of Villanova players at all costs. Good move short term, no doubt, but the long term value here is head scratching. This is what you’d expect to see if a team traded for an MVP type player, not someone a tier below all star who will be a strong complementary piece.Knicks receive:

Doesn't play hard enough to endear himself with the fans. 80 game season not 45 games. He always has been an enigma to me.
Absolutely. I think it was clearly an overpay but the Knicks are making a push to win now. With relation to the Celtics I imagine they think that they'll resign Anunoby and have two elite wing defenders to counter Tatum and Brown. What's even funnier about that comparison is that all 3 of those Celtics are each better players than Bridges.
Celtics should draft him and bury him, to the point that LeBron gets so mad he forces the Lakers to hugely overpay in a tradeLakers have little choice but to select Bronny in Round 2 which is hilarious. I guess the second round is a crap shoot anyhow so might as well do it to keep Lebron happy.
In terms of us, we really need a big if the right prospect is there for us or if we need to find a way to trade up a few spots. With Porzingis’s health, Al’s age and the rest of our bigs being more of “spot minute” guys we need to start investing in that position moving forward.
Anunoby deal done.Absolutely. I think it was clearly an overpay but the Knicks are making a push to win now. With relation to the Celtics I imagine they think that they'll resign Anunoby and have two elite wing defenders to counter Tatum and Brown.
Good thought process. Is that enough to seriously threaten the Celtics? I doubt it but it makes them better for sure.
Anunoby signed for about $42.5M a year which leaves about $15M until the Knicks are up against the 2nd apron. Maybe they can trade Randell if they sweeten the pot by adding a few 1st round picks to convince someone to take him?To really compete in the ECF is a) they need to be healthy and b) should attempt to resign Anunoby (he opt'd out).
