24 and 8??
he threw 23 PASSES last year
you think he is throwing 24 td's this year?
Not what I think... did u think Russell Wilson as bad as he was in Denver throw the same? Did u think gino Smith would in Seattle.? Baker? Have a little faith.. unless you want to run it back with Bailey Zappe.

Idk…it looks like you typed 24-8. It’s pretty optimistic for the team with JB.

Brissett is not half the QB that any of those 3 are imo
plus, unless the rookies step up big time, all 3 of those QB's had better weapons. Baker had much, much better.

what's the over/under on rcpts by Baker/Polk combined this season?

I asked the same question on another forum for the plus/minus for Asiasi/Keene the year they were drafted. I put it at 20 rcpts. they did not even get half that

plus/minus of 40 rcpts for Polk/Baker combined??

This should be a interesting discussion. Few rookies do well, even future all-pros. Our Offense will likely take half a year to get right.
==========
I'm fine with our receiving leaders being Osborn, Douglas, Henry and Bourne.

Yes I did. I was just trying to use a comparison that Wilson had 24- 8 and I think gino Smith had similar numbers.. it isn't that fat fetched that he could have similar production.. first of I don't think he will have the opportunity becuase I believe Drake will be starting just my opinion...

So in your opinion you believe gino Smith is better than Brissett? You couple be right. Your correct on your assessment i was just basically putting up a what if scenario that's all.

I do think it’s fetched actually. I see a massive difference in ability between Russell Wilson (26-8) and Jacoby Brissett.

That presumes that we don't have talent accross the board. Many agree with that assessment and wanted to dump everyone.

That simply isn't the case.

DEFENSE
The Defense is top 5 when healthy, certainly top 10. The issue here is to have a continuing top Defense.

Step One is to extend what we have and prepare to replace those who retire, and yeah the few who leave each year. IMO, I would give the team an A+ so far.

Sure, we could have added a top corner or free safety, but we are focusing on 2025-2027. Let's see what we can add in the draft before signing top free agents. It isn't clear that we ever need to sign top defensive players as long as we continue to add through the draft and acquisitions from other teams. In any case, I'm fine with waiting until 2025 to see what we have in the secondary.

Make no mistake, I'm fine with adding a HEALTHY young player at any point if value can be found. However, I think that ALL the top free agent money should go to the Offense, other than signing replacements for players lost. Of course, we continue to sign guys like Peppers, vets looking for a new start.

The bottom line is that the players in their current roles give us a top Defense. We always need to improve, but MUCH MROE important is to keep what we have going. I would not be surprised to see us draft two defensive players in our top three picks next year.
I agree with all of your basic points. On defense, we need to get younger (especially on the DL), although we could use an infusion of young talent there as well. But, Offense should get priority (as you alluded to). Unfortunately, FA comes before the Draft. If a young and established player on offense or defense is there to be had that can be around for at least 6 years (we should avoid FA's that are 28 or older), we may have to snag them before the Draft, then use the Draft to hopefully nail a few players who can prove to be studs.

It's hard for me to say that. When I watched Gino Smith basically come back into the NFL from basically being out the league and do it... anything is possible. I'm in no way proclaiming Jacoby is Wilson, just simply saying what if, it's just a what if scenario that's all.

I think the new regime has created problems for themselves by handing out large contracts. Now everyone wants re-vamped contract, it will be interesting to see how they handle it. Mayo, Wolf and Kraft are going to find out how good it was to have BB as the fall guy.

I believe during the dynasty, Bill did not have to "recruit" much. Players wanted to play for Bill and with Tom.
post Tom, as losing set in, coming to NE was not something players wanted to do. the reasons why are numerous.
the org today is smart to tie players up early, understand the rising cap/future devalued dollars scenario, and yes, sometimes over pay a little.
I believe the org is managing their money smartly as a losing team trying to get back to winning/relevancy. they have an engaged owner, who wants to win badly, and is willing to be patiently aggressive. I will be very interested watching how this new mentality plays out

Well... they are in a situation where they had to utilize the available cap space. The players on defense should have been rewarded. So a few guys are already on extensions with Jones, Tavai for example. Judon and peppers are priorities to re up.. it's all on perception of how you view it I guess. But Lower level players don't have any leverage. The guys that got extensions were deserving.

His best year is 18/6. In 79 games played, he was sacked 130 times. The good new he hasn't been sacked since November of '22.

Oh I'm 100% agree with you my man. As I always do. I was just making the " what if" factor for him as far as with the QB contracts he could see a big pay day if he plays well. So I was mentioning he probably won't have that opportunity because I just have a gut feeling Drake is starting.

Regarding Biscuit anybody who thinks we can be remotely competitive with him dream on. He's a mediocre QB: Play the Drake from Day 1.

Maye has to perform better and beat out Brissett.

Nobody is just handed a job in the NFL, you have to earn it.

Russell Wilson is a shadow of his former self, so let's keep him out of this discussion for now.

Brissett as a starter:
926-1511 attempts, 61% completions, 9994 Yards or 208 per game, 48 TD's, 22 INT's, 85.2 QB Rating, 6.61 YPA, 190 rushes, 853 YDs, 4.5 YPA, 12 rush TDs

Mayfield as a starter:
1050-2747 attempts, 62% completions, 19746 Yards or 229 per game, 127 TD's, 74 INT's, 87.7 QB Rating, 7.19 YPA, 245 rushes, 815 YDs, 3.3 YPA, 7 rush TDs

Geno Smith as a starter:
1258-1989 attempts, 63% completions, 14266 Yards or 216 per game, 81 TD's, 54 INT's, 86.9 QB Rating, 7.17 YPA, 244 rushes, 1160 YDs, 4.7 YPA, 10 rush TDs

Not half as good as these guys? Probably as good, or pretty close to it.

OK

So far, everyone who they wanted or who wanted to extended was re-signed or extended. That is truly remarkable with a completely changed coaching staff and a 4-10 record.

Yup really huge problems.

In free agency the paid Henry, Onwenu, Bourne, Dugger and Jennings. Since we were a 4-10 team, with no QB, and a new coaching staff, we had to overpay. But, then we had over $200M available in cpa space over 2024 and 2025.

And the effect was truly awful, For you this meant that we wouldn't be able to re-sign others, Then came Barmore, Andrews and Stevenson.
patriots wins = 8, patriot loses = 0

And we are worrying that we can't extend NEXT YEAR'S last five a year early.

OK, we won't re-sign them all, and you all will blame the current strategy as if somehow we should be re-signing everyone.

Logically what you say makes perfect sense. That doesn't mean that signing the deserving players is well accepted by players who feel that they deserve more. Managing through the hard feelings while retaining credibility will determine if Wolf is up for the GM job long term.

still waiting to see the official numbers on Stevenson. would not surprise me to see a lot of back end non guaranteed money.
