As I said elsewhere, I think that the rest of the most likely extensions are on the Defense. Hopefully,
JUDON is next, and then
PEPPERS
GODCHAUX
WISE
JON JONES
TAVAI
This is a relatively short list.
That is good list for consideration. Ultimately the team needs to balance bringing in new talent with creating available spots on the roster and motivating players to earn their positions. Wolf needs to be able to identify the players that should not be kept, even if they are popular with the fanbase. This quiet time is OK. We've had one competitive signing, of a guard. Give him a multi year contract structured so the out years can be easily voided.Agree with most of those except j jones. He’ll turn 32 the first month of the 2025 season so not sure i want to give him anymore multi year deals, especially for a speed guy at that age.
Id try to sign the others and prioritize OT and CB in next years draft/FA.
I like Tavai, in particular. He seems happy to play in NE and isn’t old. Peppers & Jones, I’d love to keep. But both are over 30 and they might not be around when things truly turn around.
IMO, it isn't a matter of priority. We can afford all six of the extensions on Defense. But yes, if there is a choice, Peppers comes before almost anyone else. But it won't happen that way. We extend the players who we want and who are interested in negotiating an acceptable contract. Also, some players would be fine with waiting until the next off-season. Judon and Godchaux seem willing to negotiate now. I suspect tavai would be in the same boat.Peppers is 28, Jones is 30. I would like to see both get done, but I would prioritize Peppers, who is coming off of his best season, and Safeties are more dependent on reading the play than pure speed. The good ones can play well past 30. I think Jones has already seen his best payday, and they would be able to keep him on a lesser deal than it took the last time around. Both are really smart experienced players who can contribute a lot to their team.

We need to keep money aside (this year and those to come) for any of our young players that prove to be "Keepers", in addition to any YOUNG FA's who we might be able to obtain in the 2025 FA Period (and any trades for young players who will require an extension to keep after the trade).Agree with most of those except j jones. The Pats still have over 45M in cap space. They need about 15M for the season. The other 30M would just get carried over.We need to keep money aside (this year and those to come) for any of our young players that prove to be "Keepers", in addition to any YOUNG FA's who we might be able to obtain in the 2025 FA Period (and any trades for young players who will require an extension to keep after the trade).
Correct, and the cap will likely be increased when the new league year starts as well. Most fans understand that for a number of reasons we needed to utilize the cap room. The Pats still have over 45M in cap space. They need about 15M for the season. The other 30M would just get carried over.
You also don't seem to understand that the Patriots have a projected 91M in cap space for next year. That doesn't include the 30M potential ROLLOVER.
WHO is it that you think they will need to money for next season?
I'd also add that despite their record, last year's team was largely a talented one undone by bad QB play, injuries and coaching disharmony. There's a big difference between a team with no talent, and one that simply doesn't execute.Correct, and the cap will likely be increased when the new league year starts as well. 1. We didn't really have a desirebale FA period
2. We were what 32nd or 29th in cash spent?
3. Guys on defense deserve to be extended as they have been the best unit on the team.
We are fortunate guys still want to be here. I want peppers extended like yesterday.
Yes! This team has talent, all the factors you mentioned were the perfect storm for 4-13.. I just really don't see them worse this season no matter what the sced says.. seems like each year the "schedule is tough ".. going back to the championship era I've heard that talk.I'd also add that despite their record, last year's team was largely a talented one undone by bad QB play, injuries and coaching disharmony. Any semblance of a healthy offense, mistake free QB play and a healthy defense there’s no way they’re not better.Yes! At least on paper the team has mid pack NFL talent. If the players play to their potential more than four wins should be expected. The naysayers predicting a season that will net the Pats the number one pick seem to be focused on the inexperience of the coaching staff. Just like the talent on the field Mayo and company will make mistakes and develop along the way. As long as the coach has the team playing hard and does not lose too many games himself, the record will be better this year.Yes! I’d rate the defensive talent as top tier, offensively mid pack is reasonable. At least on paper the team has mid pack NFL talent. I still see an offense that talent wise, will struggle to score 20+ points week in and week out. I also see questionable FG kicking. in the NFL, regardless how good your defense may be, that equates to mostly losing. At least on paper the team has mid pack NFL talent. Run the ball… the Texans, Chiefs, Steelers and Bucs were all middling offenses last year in terms of scoring.I still see an offense that talent wise, will struggle to score 20+ points week in and week out. the season rests, imo, with how quickly Maye is ready. Brissett is not a good QB.
