He's not the player he once was but he would've helped.

we heard the Pats were in on Diggs to the very end when he went to Buffalo
 
So instead of Thielen we get Sanu. What's not to like!

From how the article puts it, it would've been for the 2023 season. It wouldn't have been a good fit with him as the #1 WR. He was at his best Diggs and Jefferson were giving him favorable matchups.

Surprised by this news given the animosity that appeared to exist. However, I think your assessment is probably spot on. Heat of the moment exchange, but mutual respect by both.
